Gesinee's Bridal

I must admit, there were a few sales people who weren't as friendly & I felt rushed. But I have to give credit to the ones who were patient... Also, I think that the sales department [WHOM I SPOKE W/ OVER THE PHONE] we're way more friendly than the ones in person. I live in Sacramento, so a majority of our communication was via phone. They were all great... [I.e. Monique, Alicia, Crystal..the manager] That's probably why my reviews were more decent than others.

I went in to buy a Bridal Gown. I found one I liked. I had them measure me to make sure the dress would fit correctly. They told me all the dresses fit differently. So I got my measurement and ordered the dress. I waited for the dress to come and it was way to big. Now I had not lost weigh, there was no need for me too, since I am thin. I was called by them to come in. Now, they told me that I was stuck with what ever size I ordered, so I doubled measured myself. The dress was not a size 2 it was more like a size 6.I was upset. The owner came and told me it was my problem because I had order that size.I told her your sale-person measured me and told me this is the size 2 I needed.This dress was mot a size 2 but a size 6.They tell me it is the store policy that the dress is mine and it is my problem! Now the game starts! First ,I paid for the dress already and could not get my money back! Then they sent me across the street to the alterations department. Which the Gesinees Bridal lady owns! Now the price gets higher for the alterations, because the size 2 dress has gone to size 6! I am treated as if I am crazy,by the owner.l The alteration Ladies look like the owner relatives. They look afraid of her to say anything to us. The dress was expensive in the first place, but now it was almost doubled. I could not do anything because my wedding was only a few weeks away. I had 3 fittings before it started to look like what I bought. I was so upset during this time because I did not know how it would look. The Ladies charged me alot to fix it. I will never tell anyone to go there. Yes , she has polices but I know that they told me the size from there book.They measured me. Why in the world would a person know they wear a size 2 order 6. And when the problem comes she loves to send you across the street to make more money. She knows your time is limited! Never get anything here! She has made her money off being dishonest and rude,mean,no customer service here. RUDE!

We went in to buy a prom dress for my daughter. She found a dress she wanted which cost $499.00 They told us they had to order it. It would take 4-6 weeks. They measured her for her size. We order the size they told us! When the dress came is it was 2 sizes to big. The owner of the store told us it fit! No way it fit it looked like a blanket. Then the owner treated us like we where crazy and that what was the problem. She sent us across the street to her alterations people, they said they could fix it. Well the dress Cost us $812.00. not the $499.00 that we started with. She set us up to make money off of us. It was to late to go any place else! Don't go here. the owner is very nasty she told my 16 year old daughter to shut up that the other customers would here her crying!

I called this bridal salon after I saw a dress on line that I wanted to purchase. I asked the person on the phone if they carried this particular designer. She said they did. I asked her if they could order this specific dress on line and I would pay for alterations. She said no, and that no reputable designer would ever sell their dresses on line and that the place selling them on line was frauduent or the dresses were fakes. I told her about the name of the site and all of the other on line places to buy dresses and she told me I wouldn't be very smart to buy at any of them as it would be against the law for these places to sell them to the public! She then got off the phone because she said she had "customers" waiting for her to help them with real purchases! I felt I was a potential customer myself. So then, I got an idea to call back several days later and get a price quote on the dress. The lady who answered told me to make an appt if I wanted to get quotes! I had a friend call there too, and some one else did quote a price on the dress at almost twice what it is priced on the on line site!! I understand they are out to make a profit, but they are going about it in the worst way when they are so arrogant and rude. It is not against the law for on line outlets to sell wedding dresses, so the lady lied to me. Some one else needs to open a bridal salon in the area and give future brides what they are looking for, caring and great customer service!

I had heard horror stories and was a little worried about coming to Gesinee's Bridal - but I am glad I went anyway. I was not charged for anything frivolous or over the top charges: I did not pay to try on dresses, i did not pay to have my dress pressed and ready for pick up and I did not pay to store the dress there. I visited the store twice and tried on a lot of dresses and my salesperson was wonderfully patient carrying dresses back and forth and giving suggestion and doing whatever I asked. The second time I went back, I had a much better idea of what I wanted and they helped me find the dress. As a matter of fact, they didn't have the exact dress, they had a *slightly* different version that was $400 cheaper - totally worth it!!!

When it came time to decide the size of my dress... first I got lucky because I tried on my size (in regular clothes I am anywhere from an 8 to 12, but with the gown I was a size 14 - a perfect fit. I don't understand how the numbers work, but I know they are different than regular clothing). Second, they showed me a size of recommended sizes per body shape/weight/height and ultimately it was my decision (they did not force *anything*).

When I went for my fitting, I was worried that the seamstresses would try to tell me what to do: not in the least. I insisted that all I wanted was to add a "bustle" - i did not want to hem the dress (I wanted to wear heels that were high enough - big mistake on my part). The point is, everyone at Gesinee's was very professional and they listened to what I wanted and did not force anything down my throat. I *highly* recommend this Bridal shop. In addition, if you don't want overly expensive gowns, SAY SO when you walk in and they will take you straight to the second floor. Lots of dresses around $1000. THANK YOU GESINEE's (by the way, I got married Dec 30, 07 - so I am writing as a 100% satisfied costumer, a month after the wedding)

I had a totally different experience at Gessinee's from some of these posts. I had gone online and read a few reviews so I was pretty hesitant to go in but i decided I'd better make my own decision. And i was impressed! Not EVERY face was just beaming all the time but I sure a not smiling all day at my job. most of the people i worked with were pretty nice. I actually had alot of help from my consultant (cause there's so many dresses to choose from!) and the lady was super friendly. I had been in a year ago for another wedding and i hardly saw anyone that was there last year so i think they must have gotten a bunch of new people recently. I went over my paperwork and everything with the lady and my dress came in just fine. I was kinda intimidated at first too because there are SO MANY DRESSES but once you have a consultant it helps cause she just found the things i wanted without having to look through each dress. Overall, id recommend it to a friend, at least so they can go in make their own call.

My experience was Gesinee's Bridal went like this... The first time I went in there to try on dresses I had a really nice lady assisting me. She was helpful and listened to me about what kind of dress I wanted. She didnt push over priced, ugly dresses on me. Turns out she picked out the most perfect dress for me. I couldnt wait to get laced up and show my mom. I knew it was the perfect dress for me. I didnt buy it at the time as my mom wanted me to look around some more. But no other dress compared to the one I found at Gesinees.

So a month later I went back in to try it on again to make sure I still loved it. The only problem was that the nice woman who helped me before was on a leave of absence. So they handed me off to this loud, rude, obnoxious woman with big hair and red lips. She was pushy and impatient. She forced me to try on other dresses that were not at all the style I was looking for. After trying on 2 tacky dresses, I asked if I could just try on the one I liked so much. I tried it on and I was still so in love with the dress.

We bought the dress and the woman who was least helpful. She probably got the commission on the dress too. She took my measurements and insisted that I order a size 20. I am size 14. I was very hesitant about ordering it so big. She reassured us over and over again that because of my bust size I should get a size 20. She is the expert right? So we ordered a size 20. When the dress arrived and I tried it on, I almost died. It was strapless and when I tried it on and stood up straight the whole thing fell to my ankles on the floor. It was so big and that my mom and the girl assisting had to hold it up for me to look at. I was so upset that the woman would suggest I order something that would have fit 2 of me.

We let Gesinee's take care of the alterations. They had to completely re construct my dress. They had to cut a huge section down the back and removed it. Then sew the dress back together. There was so much unnecessary, left over material that I could have had another dress made. Then the best part was I that I was charged $500 for the alterations. I was completely offended and upset that there expert would suggest we order a dress 6 times larger then I actually was. Then they charged us $500 to fix it. So my $1,250 dress just turned into a $1,750 dress. But what I was going to do?? My wedding was in a couple months. So we paid it. My mom even talked to Gesinee herself about us being charged so much for something her employee talked us into. It didnt matter. She didnt give us any kind of a break. Instead she showered me with fake compliments on how much weight I must have loss. I was never a size 20 to begin with! Then a week before my wedding I went in for my final fitting. I will give the girls who did the alterations kudos for doing a great job. It was a big job and they completed it in a timely manner. Also I hadnt decided if I was wearing a veil or not. The girls there convinced me that a bride isnt a bride without a veil. I picked a nice shoulder length veil that could arrive in the shop in a matter of days. I picked up my veil 2 days before my wedding and went home to try it on. IT WAS THE WRONG VEIL!!! They ordered me the wrong veil. This one was waste long and had three tiers with white ribbon. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? It was too late to get another one! So I used it. Luckily it looked beautiful with my dress.

I personally did not have a good experience with Gesinee's Bridal. I still tell my friends to check it out for themselves. But I tell them my story and warn them before they commit to buying anything from there. I hope my story helps future brides!! Good luck Ladies!!!

First, they are VERY expensive. Second, they kept screwing up our alterations. My partner's dress came back from the tailor torn, and the bustle was way off from where it was supposed to be. My dress came back too short in the front, and unevenly hemmed. After two tries they still couldn't dye my veil the right color to match my dress, so we said 'forget it'. One of the ladies working there can't pin a dress, or even tie a bow.
It is less than two weeks to the wedding, and we will have to go in for the 4th time, and hopefully they will have it right.

So much so that even though they got my dress wrong - I ended up doing my own alterations, just so that I would not have to deal with them again. I was utterly unimpressed and have to admit that we were warned about this store, but chose in all fairness to give them the benefit of the doubt. They have a fair selection of dresses (but there are other stores with similar or better for less hassle ) For one the staff need an attitude adjustment .After enquiring if my dress had arrived (around the last week of May) I was told that it was confirmed to ship out on June 1st and would take 7-10 days, on the 14 June when I had heard nothing yet, called to enquire only to have some snooty woman tell me that they had called on the 24 may (someone needs a math lesson here) . I am not sure what number they called, but there were no messages on any of my phones I also confirmed the numbers on the receipt the ph numbers I had supplied were correct. I then asked when I could collect my dress, and was told its here, anytime you want to pick it up its here. Then in the same breath was told that they need 24 hrs notice because they need to get it from the other building!!???
So I proceeded to give them 48hrs notice - and went by to collect it after work - which happened to be 25 mins before their closing time only to be asked condescendingly once more if I had called first (my response ' 2 days ago!!') at this point along with the shoddy service from before I was really ready to ask for my money back and buy my dress elsewhere - the salesperson then went to fetch it from the rack and hung it against the wall, and very unprofessionally asked me to 'just check the zippers' - I noticed a note marked on the dressed called 24/5 not sure who they called but it wasnt me. I asked could I try it on (a dress that I had paid for) to check if it was in order - she looked at the clock with a sigh and said, "I guess" . Friggin 25 mins before closing?? and they're sighing ??? I was not asking her to make a dress !
I tried the thing on, to find out that although I asked for one size up from the sample I had tried on originally, they had ordered the same size as the sample which was tight (which is why I requested the size up to begin with) .
Let me tell y'all besides the unprofessionalism - with regard to the snootiness and condescending attitudes - y'all have NOTHING to be snooty about, believe me.
Read the reviews below, this wasnt just a once off bad day etc - there are other readers who experienced the same thing. I doubt that we all could be wrong.

i was really shocked to hear all of these reviews from gesinees bridal ! i had a great experience ; yes i did pay a fee to see the gowns after a first time but they took that payment off of the total purchase price of my gown ! I also got all of my bridesmaids dresses there and those came in 4 weeks before expected! Also i do admit they are extremeley busy the phone seemed to ring non stop there; i guerss its all of us frantic brides.. but i have to say overall i would go there again and id defenitley would recommend them to all my friends who need anything and everything having to do with bridal.

I tried to make an appointment three times and was put on hold each time for 10 minutes. I decided to cross this place off my list--if their customer service is already this poor just trying to book an appt, it is concerning to think what the rest of the experience would be like with this place.

Owners: you need to be checking in with how your staff are treating people; there are other reviews who say the same thing

It has been my experience, and that of several friends, that Gesinees looks great at that initial visit but, in the long run they don't lilve up to the promises they make about: when your dress will be ready; exactly what alterations will be done and for what price (there always seemed to be some "extra work" that they needed to charge extra for but neglected to tell us about up front); WHICH dress they're ordering for you; what the final cost will be. When I went to pick up my dress, they were STILL working on it (the day before my wedding) and they asked if I could pick it up the next morning. Of course I couldn't, so I had to wait for an hour while they finished it. In addition, they wanted a "rush fee" for having to finish it that day for me, when I was supposed to pick it up two days before that in the first place! If you decide to buy there, get EVERYTHING in writing up front. Best of all, though, AVOID THEM.

I accompanied the bride to shop for her wedding dress. They set up appointments, but the lady was not much of help at all; she was really into talking to her fellow coworker about her personal issues. She had LONG LONG nails which poked my friend quite a few times. She gave my friend a lot of pressure to buy when she didn't even suggest the right style of dresses even though we told her the criteria; we had to look for the dresses ourselves. Perhaps the owner should really look into hiring the right people. Other than that, they do have good selections.

My wife and her bridesmaid went here to look at dresses. The sales lady didn't really help them. They went and picked out dresses on their own and had to hunt someone down to find something in a catalog. The staff they did interact with were abrupt, unfriendly, and that's not what you want when you are stressed out looking for dresses all day. They didn't make it a pleasant experience.

Gesinees has a good selection of dresses to look through, but they have some weird practices that made me not want to buy from there. The most annoying one was that you could only go there to try on dresses once for free. If you came back, you had to pay a fee to try on the dress again! Very strange practice when you are going to purchase a bridal gown, something I would think you would want to try on a couple of times to make sure it's what you really want.

I bought my wedding dress here and also bought a bridemaid dress here for anothes wedding i was in. my dress was great a resonible price, but what killed me was the price of alteration. they are very expensive for their alterantions. i was very happy when a did not need to do any alterations to the bridemaid dress. They have a wide selection of dresses and shoes at their store.

Apparently they charge you if you come back to look at wedding dresses a second time. They did not tell me this the first time I went in. I went by myself and the second time I brought a friend to see the selections I narrowed down the previous time.

They are very high pressure and the dresses are in bad shape and they are definitely telling you what you want to hear. I would not go back ever!

It was FREEZING cold, on a January morning and I was told to wait outside until my appointment! I was dress shopping for the first time, expected lots of Oooing and Ahhing...

Instead, they made me feel like my budget of $1000 was insufficient for me to have a beautiful gown a shuffled me upstairs to the "bargain racks" with 20 other women!

I left having tried on only 5 dresses (they limit you), none of which I was allowed to pick.

I ended up paying less than a third of my budget on a beautiful dress elsewhere.

It has been a few years now since I went to Genisee's Bridal to shop for a wedding gown but from what I can remember, the salesladies were very nice. They had a nice selection of wedding gowns as well. I had to look through racks of wedding dresses and pull out the ones i wanted to try on.

The salespeople at Gesinees are extrememely friendly and nice. I tried on about ten dresses there and the two women who were helping me never flagged in their energy and enthusiasm. They were helpful in finding what I was looking for and honest in telling me how much it would cost to alter dresses to fit perfectly. The store itself has a nice layout and a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Most of the dresses are up in the front and the changing areas are large and in the back. Even though I didn't end up buying a dress here, I would highly recommend it.

PROS: nice selection, great staff
CONS: a little pricey

This is a great all arond place to go. The selection is big as along as you are not lookng for something really duffernt. The price is fair and you can always rely on them. They will make sure that you get what you need as promised. Special orders are available as well. I am not fond of the staff "favorites" but if you know what you want this place is for you.
