Sounds crazy, but it is delicious. Doesn't taste weird at all. And it healthier than a turkey burger.

I hate the wait in this place, and it always seems dirty - maybe that's part of the charm? One way or another, I love the food!

When I lived in Davis as a student, and then just a civvie...this joint was a staple...especially when I worked for riki fashion at their wholesale shop just behind the place. It is where I fell in love with the chicken fried steak...and of course...the ZOOM. Who can resist deep-fried veggies? Of course, if you order the ZOOM be prepared to share. It's pretty big. Even though I don't live in Davis anymore...when I'm in the area...I make my husband get off the freeway (and since Murder Burger is conveniently located on Olive Drive this is no hardship). It's a novelty to him...as he is truly a SoCal boy...and he always wants to go to In-n-Out across the street. (I love In-n-Out...but they're just interlopers in the Davis burgerworld as far as I'm concerned.)

Pros: FOOD!

Cons: no parking on a busy night

I recommend coming here at least an hour in anticipation of any hungry feeling. The quickest wait I've had for food was 30 minutes on a slow day(yes, I timed), and the slowest was nearly an hour and a half on a busy day. I know that good burgers can never be rushed, but no hamburger should ever take 30 minutes to cook. I've also noted that most of the time, the food comes out somewhat cold, indicating that the order does spend quite a bit of time sitting around.

Honestly, I haven't tried any of their exotic burgers to date, just the 1/3 lb redrum burger(which IS pretty good), so I can't judge on their whole menu. In conclusion:

C-
Would've been B+ if service was quicker than 25 minutes.

I love Redrum Burger. I used to stop at this stand on my way home from classes at UC Davis. The name used to be Murder Burger, which I like better. Anyway, the taste is good, the prices are affordable, and how can you beat a name like Redrum Burger?

They have good burgers as well as many selections of burgers. The problem is the price, it's pretty expensive even for their burgers. However, they are known for their big juicy burgers so you have to really see which is more valuable, your wallet or stomach.

I would go if my friends went, if not I'd gladly go to a burger chain. (ie: In-N-Out)

PROS: Great selection of burgers, optimistic workers.
CONS: Small place, pricey food, and workers may be a tad bit too optimistic.

This place is fantastic. It's a small little place with only a few tables to sit at and a wooden porch around the back. It stands alone in the middle of a parking lot and never seems quite busy... untill you step inside.

This place has become a Davis staple, offering big portions of good, fresh food for years. With the "organic alternative" cutomers can order an Ostrich burger, which has a flavor, color and texture similar to red meat, but much less fat and horomones.

This place can be a bit pricey for a burger joint, dinner for 2 cost me 18 bucks last time.... but the food is worth the price. They accept cash, credit, and atm here which makes life really easy, and you really do get what you pay for here, which is darned good food.

This is a favorite hang-out at night for the town's college students. The fried zucchini is delicious, and the chili fries are overwhelming and best split between two or three people. Shakes are good, and there's good variety to choose from. The cleanliness of the joint is somewhat uncertain, since they try to cultivate a grimey, hole-in-the-wall appearance. The fried squid is a bit too salty for my tastes. A fun place to hang out and people watch. The hamburgers are common-place, unless you order the specialities, like the ostrich burger. Then, it's just so you can say ate ostrich.

Okay dont listen to the others. This place has the best fricken sandwiches, burgers, and fried zuchini. Really good not too much $ for how much you get and how good it is. BUTT.....it has really slow service even if not crowded. So dont go if in a major rush and bring a book or something.

I am a recent graduate from UC Davis (GO AGS!) and I went to Redrum/Murder Burger only twice during my college career because it is expensive. I'll admit that the food is pretty good and they offer lots of tasty treats in a great atmosphere. However, my main gripe is the price of the food. It is way too expensive for most college students (the majority of Davis residents). If they lowered their prices, I would give them a much better recommendation. The service is friendly but pretty slow even when no one is there.
