Reviews for Egyptian Museum

Ratings_icons Great Egyptian Experience

I can't afford a trip to egypt but the Rosicrucian museum...yes!!!! I'm thankful that they even have something like this here. The replica of the tomb was simply awesome. They even have a planetarium there that shows u egyptian mythology etc. The tomb though was most breath taking. U could spend atleast 2-3 hrs looking through all the exhibits. After which u can spend some time outside in the papyrus garden that they have. Very beautiful place.

Oddly located in a residential neighborhood near downtown San Jose, this Egyptian Museum is smallish but packed with real Egyptian artifacts. If you are into this sort of thing you will love it, if not avoid as the other people have said. There is a guided tour also you can go yourself. Great for all ages though, especially school age kids. There are often school kids here on fieldtrips. Even the exterior grounds and building is Egyptian style. Gift shop is actually reasonably priced too, some unique gifts. Like I said, in a neighborhood so hard to get parking spot, weekdays would be best.

PROS: unique
CONS: lack of parking

Ratings_icons Good for the kids, boring for the adults.

A good place to take young children to, but not a place for adults to learn. The museum is very very small, you could only spend an hr and half tops there. Also, if you go when there is a school field trip, there is no chance of you being able to enjoy yourself in a private party. They sell tickets to the planetarium thing, but unless you go early before the schools they will not have any tickets available. At least they do have a real mummy.

Fairly small museum but features many ancient artifacts of Egypt. Most well known feature at the museum is a real mummy. I've also heard from newspaper that a lot of research is done here so you might be able to get a closer look if lucky.

Because its fairly small, repeated trips may not be recommended. People here are VERY helpful and always willing to answer questions

Would recommend

My wife and I like Egypt very much. It is really amazing and attractive. The museum is not huge but has a good collection of egyptian things. You can actually see a real mummy here. That's pretty cool! You can take a tour and they will teach you many things about Egypt. It is definitely a place you must go.

Ratings_icons Egypt for you

This in my opinion is a really cool place. Do you get to see REAL mummies in any other places? I dont know about you, but I dont. This, for me, was the best part of the museum, seeing the really mummies really amazed me. There was tons of other stuff there too. Stuff that the people were buried with, and went with into the after life. You can take a small "tour" and they will tell you a lot about symbols and ways of the early Egyptians. Really cool place, you should go.

World class egyptian museum with stunning artifacts and exhibits. Explore a tomb replica and visit a genuine unwrapped mummy. This place seriously knows their ancient egypt facts.

You can also take a class that teaches you how to read & write hyroglyphics, as well as learn about the cultures, traditions, and ways of life of the ancient egyptians.

This is an OK museum. It's very small and takes no time to look around. Parking can be a bear, there's only street parking with meters close by. It's probably a good place to take kids 10-13 years, but they'll probably go with their school anyway. There is a park within walking distance that you can take a picnic to.

This is a popular place for a school trip. It's an OK place. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best place to visit. Kids probably get a kick out of it, but in the Bay Area, there are far better places to visit. If you have a choice visit the Tech Museum in San Jose instead of the Rosicrucian Eqyptian Museum (although, the building of the Rosicrucian Museum is beautiful - maybe stop and take a photo outside, then head off to the Tech Museum)

interesting place to encounter- very unexpected. not a very big museum, but decent for an hour or too. they also have some tours and a fake cave/pyramid. They have some interesting egyptian artifacts, including some animal mummies. This is not a place for very young children. At times it is hard to find parking.
