The Elat Market is a grocery store located on Pico between Robertson and La Ci on the South side of the street. They have fresh produce and kosher foods as well as fish, fresh meat and lots of speciality products.

Elat Market has probably the best fresh meat in this area.
It's clean and should it be important to you: it's kosher.
Other than there there is a huge variety of Middle Eastern groceries, fresh (pita) bread, bagels, fish, pastry.
Shopping at this place is an experience.. one needs to be brave to be confonted with the rudeness here.. the shoppers are here on a mission: I want my stuff and I do not care whether I hit you with my shopping cart.
After I went to Israel and visited the markets there I understood: it's the way it's done in the Middle East.

For excellent produce and good prices it might be worth to check this out.

The Elat Market is a grocery store located on Pico between Robertson and La Ci on the South side of the street. They have fresh produce and kosher foods as well as fish, fresh meat and lots of speciality products, catering to the Jewish community.

This is a great market because the produce is cheap, cheap cheap! This is NOT Ralphs, the produce is extremely inexpensive and very fresh, you can find great yogurts and nut selection. However, very little selection in anything else.

It should be noted that other shoppers here are EXTREMELY rude. They push you around, step on your feet, generally act like you are not there. It's kind of a terrible experience. You really have to want to stick to that old budget to get your cheap eats here ... but go once, if it is worth the struggle, do it! There are somedays I can't face it and I pay more at Trader Joes...

PROS: Cheap
CONS: Rude shoppers
