Message from Fu-Shing Chinese Restaurant

Passed on from three generations, and over seventy years of exquisite culinary experience, Chef Felix Chang and his father Chef Tso-Chun Chang opened up Fu Shing Restaurant in the year 1980. Fu Shing, otherwise known as "Fortunate Star" has not only served our guests for the mere purpose of high quality food, but also for the exceptional service and pleasurable atmosphere we work at to the best of our ability to provide each and every one of our customers. Szechwan dishes give off a stronger taste in spiciness and garlicky through a balance mixture of selected herbs and spices that create zesty flavorsome dishes. These authentic and rich cuisines not only emphasized deliciousness, but have been recreated to provide a lighter and healthier selections to meet the health requirement that our society has faced in recent health issues in the sense of low fat, low sodium and NO MSG.

The best Chinese restaurant in San Gabriel Valley

by Chris H.

Very good authentic Szechwan style food at reasonable prices. The people there are extremely helpful and always pleasant. The Fu shing chow mein is exemplary, we usually pair it with a shrimp dish, either the sweet and pungent shrimp, braised shrimp, or shrimp in hot garlic sauce. All are delicious, but with over 70 different main dishes, its hard to find something you don't like.

Fine Chinese Cuisine

by Sonia M. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,812

The food is very good. They have lunch specials, dinner, catering and take-out. Every waiter I have had has been excellent. They have a full bar. Parking is free and in walking distance of the restaurant.

Authentic, authentic, authentic

by CSMobileUser

I have been going to this place since high school in 1986 and it has never let me down. I appreciate asian food that sticks to it's roots - no Panda for me. This place certainly lives up to expectations. Try the cold sliced beef tendon as an appetizer, it melts in your mouth.

Loved the food, ignore 1 star review

by mummytoLuke

My husband and I just ordered take-out from Fu-shing's based on the reviews, and we were not let down. It was wonderful. We decided it wasn't particularly spicy, that's why we only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. However I would do a 41/2 star rating because they special made their fried egg rolls without the pork for us. They warned us it might be any extra 15 minutes, but considering it's Sunday night take-out time, they still arrived before the actual time they quoted us.
We also didn't get that kinda sick feeling you get from eating take-out Chinese (which usually comes from cooking with too much grease and MSG), I assume they don't cook with MSG and actually mean it.
We are definitely going to be ordering our Chinese take-out from there from now on.

Pros: Special made their egg rolls for us w/o the pork

Cons: Needed a bit more spice

I love Fu Shing's Food, Melting in my mouth.

by JudithS78

Fu-shing's "Empire honey ham" is PERFECT, never too saucy, and just right. The ham filling really does melt in your mouth and the subtle sweet sauce layered inside the warm bread goes exceptionally well with the texture of the ham. Everytime I crave for good Schezwan style chinese cuisine I think of Fu-Shing. The layers of ingredients are delicious and it's not chock full of MSG or salt. Delish!

Excellent Restaurant , The best!!!!!

by amywun

Your food is amazing! My favorite is the Kung Pao with steamed rice. If you like spicy food, this one?s for you. I normally like ordering spicy food, but sometimes the hotness overpowers the meal. However, your Kung Pao has a kick and is very flavorful. Though, my plan is was to eat a little, because I am watching my portions. Once I started I couldn?t stop. I can always count on your food always being fresh and tasty. I?m most definitely ordering again.

Best Ever

by changdt

I highly recommend this place both for single dining, dates, or even family parties. They provide service to the utmost perfection; they are so helpful and kind, and they make sure that my boyfriend and I had a good time. I have gone to this place many times before ever since I was young, so to make sure that I arranged a good date. The food was delicious, you won't get any of those bizarre americanized "chinese" foods here. It's totally authentic and delightful.

Pros: great food and great service

Cons: nothing at all.

BLEK!!! WORST FOOD EVER

by TinaRSnith

I went to this place based on all of the reviews and I swear I was double checking the name of the place as I couldn't believe the food came from the restaurant that has been rated with five stars. The food was, bar none, THE WORST CHINESE FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! I spent over $55 on take out and threw ALL of it down the disposal. My advice would be if you're going to try it, start with one dish only because in addition to being gross, it's also expensive.

Pros: NONE

Cons: WORST FOOD EVER; WAY OVERPRICED

best green tea ice cream I've ever had

by khatsmeow

I saw how highly rated this restaurant was on citysearch so my husband and I decided to give it a try since we haven't agreed on a chinese restaurant and are always looking for new places. We ordered kung pao chicken, hunan beef, vegetable chow mein and orange chicken. The hunan beef was not fatty. The kung pao chicken was perfectly seasoned and the orange chicken was actually crispy instead of soggy from being drenched in too much overly sweet sauce. The food wasn't just spicy (mildy spicy, not as spicy as I would like) but had flavor and was delicious. we enjoyed the food so much, we stopped eating to take the rest (which was alot) home to enjoy again and ordered mango and green tea ice cream. The ice cream didn't even taste artificially sweetened. The portions are big enough to share and even the free hot tea was really tasty. We finally found a chinese place!

Pros: easy parking, great tasting food, clean bathrooms

Cons: none

Best Szechuan Food in LA

by peter1767

it's hard to find quality szechuan food in LA but this place is great. granted, the food has become less spicy due to the increase of non-chinese clientele, but this place is still the best. i highly recommend the fried scallops w/ thin rice noodles and the spicy beef ("water cooked beef").

Pros: szechuan food!

Cons: none

My Favorite Chinese Place!

by foodie2183

If you are looking for great Chinese for a decent price, I suggest you try this place out! The food is always nice and hot, and always comes out quickly and on time. The service can be slow at times, but they are always very polite. The restaurant is HUGE and spacious and has lovely decor. The Mayo-Shrimp is my favorite dish, but I would recommend pretty much everything on the menu! Lots of parking!

Pros: Good Food, Clean, Great Atmosphere

Cons: Slow Service, Crowds

BEST CHINESE FOOD IN LOS ANGELES... HANDS DOWN!

by mrmachachi

Finding amazing Chinese food in Los Angeles is a tough prospect. Everything is fresh and delicious. Everything! Best Kung Pao I ever had. The string beans are fresh and amazing. The dumplings, wonton soup, honey glazed walnuts, mu shu, egg rolls... all amazing. Only weak spots so far have been the fried rice which was kind of wet and the bbq ribs which were fatty and had a gooey sauce. Otherwise, everything I've tried, and I've tried most of the menu, has been astounding.

Pros: Food, Friendly

Cons: food comes too fast
