Animal Care Clinic

I have taken MANY animals to this clinic and will continue to do so. They are thorough, professional, compassionate animal lovers. They have never hesitated to discuss any aspect of my animal's care with me, including cost, etc. They have been some of the most compassionate people ever when I have had to put a beloved pet to sleep, and have helped me nurse several animals back to health, as well as standard care.

I can't recommend them highly enough!

PS My favorite doctor is Patrice Wehren, but they're all great.

Please, if you love your pets don't take them here. They killed my dog! I took my dog to another vet for second opinion and the Vets were in shock for the treatment my dog received at this clinic. Unfortunately, it was to late for my dog and she died! I recommend you take your pets to Pinole Pet Hospital. Their staff is very professional, the facility is VERY clean and BEST of all the doctors are wonderful and know what they are doing. I am not the only person that has had a bad experience with Animal Care Clinic. Please, I strongly URGE others to write their horror stories.

I'v been here sooo many times and have always left satisfied with the service I recieved.. They're prices are a little high , but you can't put a price on the health of your pets. So far they've been super helpful and I have never been in any altercations with any of their staff or doctors. It's unfortunate that people have commented bad on this great clinic!! GOOD JOB... I've been meaning to write in and finally just had to do it. We took our dogs to this place to save money but I found in the long run, it ends up costing the same as they add on charges. One day I was in the waiting room and couldn't believe it when I watched them charge a couple $85 just to tell them that they needed to take their dog to another vet because they couldn't help their dog since it needed minor surgery.

I had an incident with them last fall when I brought our dog in who was gravely ill. Many tests were taken and I was sent home because they couldn't diagnose the problem. My dog got worse after a few days so I brought her back in and they took xrays and found that she had a tumor and her spine was in bad shape. I was so disappointed that the first vet missed all of this which ended up making my dog suffer needlessly since we had to put her down because she was suffering terribly. After my husband and I brought her in to have her put down we ordered a nice cedar box with an engraved metal tag on it to have her ashes put in it. After a couple of weeks I called and it was still not available. A month went by and I called again and finally they told me her ashes were there to be picked up. I came in and two front desk help went to find her box. It was on a higher shelf but as one of them reached up to get it, she dropped the box on the floor which made a loud thud. Both girls started giggling which upset me terribly. Our dog was 14 years old and a huge part of our family and we loved her so much and for her to have been treated disrespectfully like that was intolerable. They brought the box over and I then realized that it was not what I had ordered. It was in a junky box with a name sticker on it! I was disgusted by that time and demanded to speak to the manager. The manager argued with me about the box and I told her that I was not paying for a box I did not order. I asked her to speak to me in another room privately and she rolled her eyes at me. When I got into the other room, I explained to her why I was more than upset (told her about her employees laughing) and that she was responsible for their behavior. She apologized but not sincerely and just acted like she couldn't wait for me to leave. I demanded that she contact the cremation company and It turned out that the company who cremates the animals had made an error and the owner personally delivered the new box with my beloved dog's ashes in it because he felt badly. The Animal Care Clinic's manager and her employees' behavior was inexcusable and I don't recommend anyone going to this organization.

I had taken several of my pets to this place over a couple of years. I felt as if I were putting up with absolutely the worst front office experiences because I thought that the vets were really good vets. For example, I couldn't get out of there in less than 2 hours - that's with an appointment! God forbid I should have to go there without one - that would take 3-4 hours of time, on average.

The front office staff are surly and disorganized. They are extremely inefficient. There is an apparent lack of good communication. I have experienced their surliness first hand and have observed countless unpleasant communications during my long waiting times there with other customers.

On one such occasion, I couldn't take the abuse that was being levied upon a customer and I actually in all good conscience had to intervene. I mean this was an elderly woman who was shattered about a diagnosis that was just given to her about her elderly dog. She was being treated so badly by the front office staff - I just couldn't take it.

When I finally went in to see the vet - She actually chastised me for interfering with her front office staff doing their job.

I think the vets are clueless and uncaring.

I have since transferred to the Pinole Pet Hospital - and have found a complete caring and compassionate staff and front office staff that are personable and efficient.

I would highly recommend that you avoid this clinic! For your sake as well as your pets'.

I live in Walnut Creek and never think twice about driving all the way to El Sobrante to take my dog to the vet. The admin. staff is young and upbeat, you can tell that they all genuinley love working with animals AND people. I have always seen Dr. OConnel who I love. She is gentle and always takes her time answering our questions and giving us the attention we need. This clinic knows that finances can be tight for everyone so they do their best to be VERY transparent with their fees and are always reasonably priced. All you have to do is visit the facility and look at their patient wall where they hang countless letters and cards from families who's pets have been well cared for by the team at the El Sobrante Animal Care Clinic.

Be careful with weekend apointments, especially Sundays. Because they are one of few clinics open then there are often walk in emergencies which can cause delays to your apointment.

After going from one impersonal and expensive vet to another trying to figure out why my puppy was having diarrhea, I finally found the ACC. Everyone from the front desk staff to the technicians to the actual vet were fantastic. Knowledgeable, didn't hurry me or puppy, let me know of all my options and answered every question. For the first time I spent more time getting information from the vet than sitting in a waiting room! Inexpensive for the quality of care.

My dog had been hit by a car. And when I took my dog to Animal Care Clinic and told what had happen. The doctor had adviced me that he will take care of my dog. Before any major operation they will do, he will call me first to let them know what they will need to do. I've recieve a phone call from him at about 10 p.m. He said that the surgery was successful and she is doing well. He mentioned to me that he had cut her tube to be able to make babies. I was shocked! I wanted to breed my dog with another person's dog. I asked him was it nessiary? He said no that the tube was just in his way so he had cut it. Then he was quite for a second. And asked me if I was planning for her to have puppies.. I said yes. And he just realized that he should of called me first before doing so. I WAS SOO MAD! You (doctor) is one lucky man to still have your job.. and for the clinic to still stand there or else I would of sued big time.

I love the Animal Care Clinic. They made me an appointment an hour after I called about my puppy being sick. She tested parvo positive and they gave me a lot of options based on my financial capabilities. I did the outpatient care and had to bring her back everyday for treatment. They always had her file pulled out and were ready to get her started right away. She made a quick (3 day) recovery! They have a large staff and all are very kind and affectionate with Malli. However, it was a different veterinarian seeing her everyday. Otherwise, it is by far the most affordable place around and I definitely recommend them!!

I agree that the doctors at this clinic are terrific. They really do care about the animals and provide excellent treatment, and have taken great care of my 4 cats--one of which has kidney failure. :-(

However, a word of advice: Buy your pet medications elsewhere when possible, especially if you have a cat or dog with long-term medical needs. ACC's prices are 3x higher than what you'll pay online at sites like Medi-Vet. For instance, the IV bags I need for my cat are $4.89 online, while ACC charges $18.50! The flea control products like Revolution are also $15 more expensive at ACC.

I wish I'd known sooner considering the thousands of dollars I've spent at ACC.

The vet staff is awsome! The prices are resonable. Carrie, the office manager, is the rudest person in the place. I've never felt the vet was recommending something unnecessary. The front desk staff leave a lot to be desired. They gossip, they aren't out front, they ignore people, and they are slow. The staff up front are welcoming as well as professional. Their treatment fees are significantly lower than other vets. The general staff members are very knowledgable and helpful.
The veterinarians are incredible. They are genuinely compassionate towards your pets. They have a calm demeanor toward your pets that will reassure you. Oh yes, and these dr's can do ANYTHING! They are very skilled as far as treatments and surgeries go. I can't think of anything else to say except that this is the ideal vet for your pet.

PROS: Great hours, great staff, and great fees.
CONS: I wish they were open 24 hours a day!!!!!

I believe the person writing the story about their dog being spayed without their knowledge of it, is completely mistaken. Either it happened at another clinic or did not happen at all. Animal Care Clinic has forty thousand clients for a reason. ACC is truly the best, I absolutely love it! The doctors, staff and prices are excellent. They are very low cost compared to many others I have priced. There truly isn't a better team of Doctors out there. They have so much experience and knowledge and at the same time treat my pets as if they were their own. They are also open 7 days a week and have great hours. I also know that the largest animal rescue organizations all choose ACC as their hospital, that alone says a lot. They establish great friendships with their clients and keep them coming back for years. Last but not least, ACC is very cleanly and has a wonderful boarding facility. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a wonderful place to take their beloved pets. I know how important it is to find a place that is low in price but genuinely cares.

CONS: There are truly none I can think of.

While the doctors are fantastic, the staff is very young and appears to be in high school. They do appear to like animals, but the paper work, assistance, and phone help can be a bit sloppy.

PROS: Cheap, walk-in appts, boarding, and grooming
CONS: Sloppy service

I've been visiting the Animal Care Clinic for the last five years to have my dog's teeth cleaned. They do have reasonable rates for teeth cleaning except after your dog reaches the age of 7 where it can become considerably more expensive.

In person I find the customer service of the folks at the reception desk to be okay, but definitely not wonderful or outstanding. They don't update their records to reflect changes and they don't appear to enter the information correctly either. I find this frustrating because each time I call for an appointment my information never comes up because it wasn't entered correctly so I have to remember their mistakes in order to help them locate mine and my dog's information. Very annoying and frankly unprofessional. While the doctors are great at what they do, their staff is just okay. Nothing remarkable.

PROS: Less expensive than some places;
CONS: Poor attention to detail; not good phone skills

I love this clinic because they have the cheapest shots out of any clinic in the bay area they except walk-in's
they treat your animal as if it was there own. animal care clinic is the best.

I have taken my animals here for years and to be honest with you. They are a little on the expensive side. Although this is true I must say that they do have the animal's intension at heart. I personally do not get along with one of the owners, but she is really good with the pets. I don't mind her being rude to me as much as I mind how she treats my pets. I would recommend this clinic if anything for the care they give the animals.
