I was referred to Manis by the Little Sisters of the Poor, ironically, as he does pro bono appraisals on the jewelry donated for their yearly charity sales. I had used a few jewelers in the area before, but had not been satisfied.

Since then Manis has been the man I go to for all repairs and cleanings. I rarely buy, but am tempted by a small assortment of vintage items he keeps.

This is a family business, probably second generation with the third generation working in the shop. They are all knowledgeable. He's an insider tip in West Portal, where he knows all of his customers. In short this is the kind of business for which people get nostalgic for a reason. Product and service are top cabin. Information is straight forward.

I imagine the prices are comparable. The selection is attractive, mostly classic. He knows where to get things if he can't find them. I am currently having an old railroad watch repaired - quartz and pieces that had to be ordered. It will be in excellent condition when finished.
