Richard Glass is the best hair stylist I have ever been to and the only one I trust fixing my hair. He took my hair from unmanageable and frizzy to soft and shiny. If I were to recommend anyone it would definetly have to be him

The best thing about glass hair is Richard Glass. He is not only talented, stylish, friendly, and inteligent, he makes you feel like a million bucks. The entire staff is friendly and professional, the salon itself is ideally located very comfortable. Sometimes he offers us a capp or a glass of wine, or just chilled water. The music is perfect and there are always stylish people coming in and out who all seem to love the guy. I send all my friends, clients, and out of towners to glass hair. I even send my mom there when she comes into town. The experience is personalized and richard will not let you leave looking a fool. He knows proper hair care, make up, personal style techniques and his clients are diverse and from different backgrounds. This is a one stop shop and if you go there you will have a stylist and friend for live and you will never let anyone else take care of you. I have been going for 7 years. Even when I moved to Chicago in 07, I still come back to LA once a month to get my haircut and my girl gets her hair done.

I'm the type that needs a stylist who can tell ME what to do with my hair. I've been to at least six different salons since moving to LA more than 4 years ago and have not had a decent cut. FINALLY ... I have found a pro who knows what to do. Richard gave me the best cut I've had in many years. He's my guy now. No question.

Ruby is fantastic. He is a magician when it comes to hair. He has been coloring and cutting perfect hairstyles across the globe before most of these newbies had even picked up a pair of scissors. He can fix anything, including bad color jobs. He is a sweetheart on top of that! You will not be disappointed.

Friday afternoon I sat contemplating the idea of a haircut, but as always afraid to try someone new - I hesitated - I started researching on-line and found these fantastic reports on Richard. I called and found out that he was fully booked, but to my surprise the sweet girl that answered quickly found a solution. She set me up with Christiano. Christiano did the most amazing work and my hair looks fantastic. He has a finesse with the scissors and hairdryer that was an awesome surprise. He also did my color and it gave me years of youth. I have never received so many compliments on my hair. Richard has my hair shining and moving like nothing before. I look fabulous. I was very pleased with my experience...the salon is gorgeous and clean. The stylists are hip and friendly, and there's a lot of parking.

Just home from my first ever visit to Richard at Glass Hair Design. I made the appointment because of all the love here on the reviews and I have to say that NONE of what you read here is exaggerated! I left this salon absolutely loving what the amazingly talented Richard did to my hair. Not only did he totally rock it out with my cut, he's a darling person who's a pleasure to spend time! I recently had my hair cut & colored from Ruby at Glass Hair Design in Venice - it is a most relaxing and creative space. As part of the shampoo process Ruby gave me the best head massage I have ever had, it's a purely orgasmic feeling! His personality and professionalism is top notch, talented & creative and I would recommend this experience to anyone,,,my hair looks great too! Also the owner Richard Glass is a excellent host and really funny....love his product " Blow it" I can not live without it!!!!!!!!!!

Though there are some who would claim to be his equal, Richard is quite simply the best stylist in Los Angeles. In addition to his warm, witty, caring demeanor, Richard has an uncanny ability to interpret and manifest a client's vision. Try out Glass Hair, you won't leave disappointed.

That title just fits the multi-talented Richard Glass. I just had a trim, the results were exactly what I asked for, as always. I have been a faithful client of his for about 15 years. I happen to have hair that is very hard to manage, not only do I have tons of hair but it is extremely curly. I wish I could post a picture so you can see what I'm talking about, it is almost unbelievable but if you have curly hair you know that once you find somebody that knows what they're doing, you stick to them, hence the 15 years. I'm not a high maintenance kinda girl but will happily wait for an opening and pay his fees because it's worth every penny. I said multi-talented earlier and I meant it, I have gone from long to short, layers, flat irons, up do's(spe?), in the last 15 years or so Mr. Richard Glass has done it all, and done it extremely well.

That's just my comment about his work, his establishment speaks for itself, you are treated like an old friend by all, clients and staff.

First class all the way, I recommend him to all of the people who compliment my hair and I'm happy to recommend him to all who read this review.

I simply love him, his salon and his work!

I love it there. Richard is a miracle worker. After years of so called hair stylists damaging my hair, I finally found someone I can trust. Richard's collection of G-Spot products nourishes your hair. When you leave his salon (even if you are wearing Crocs, old jeans and a t-shirt) you feel glamorous.

hair is personal. it says something about you before you can say anything yourself. I wouldn't trust anyone else to cut, color or style my "statement" other than Richard.

He knows what he's doing and he does it in perhaps the trendiest setting in LA. Awesome shop, awesome work, and if you don't leave the place laughing from the onslought of jokes, you don't deserve to get your hair cut here.

If you want to look Beautiful then Richard Glass is the man for you. I have known Richard since we were kids and no one is prouder of him then me. Believe me when I tell you, you will be very satisfied when you have had the Glass experience. Whatever you are looking for, color, cut, extensions, make-up. Richard is the man to go to. His best kept secret is his hands. Once you had been shampooed by Richard, you will fall in love. But when you take that final look in the mirror your days of searching for that perfect stylist will be over. Richard not only will have your hair right, he will do your make up. You will feel and look like a celebrity. BEAUTIFUL!

Richard has taken the extra step in meeting his clients needs, whatever they might be. Kick back and be treated to an expresso, water, music, flatscreen tv, and if you are hungry there are many eating options around the salon. But nothing beats Richard's personality. You will feel like you are old friends the moment you meet.

Richard Glass is a special, special man. I've been a client for 2 or 3 years and love him more with each cut and style. He listens intently while I try to draw a verbal picture of what I want, nods his head, and voila! Everytime I'm left with precisely what I was envisioning, plus the bonus of his own added style and artistry. The fact that he's entertaining, hysterical, and a good conversationalist is merely icing on the cake.

There's no mistaking it, Richard rocks!!

Most of you women can agree with me, when you move to a new city one of the first thing on your mind is "Who is going to do my hair?The day I scheduled my first appointment with Glass Hair Design I knew I was in my a treat. Richard is a talented, professional designer who knows how to REALLY do hair. Most hair designers just wash, cut & style your hair without even asking your opinion, but Richard is different, he listens to your ideas and then leads you into the right "hair" direction. The environment is relaxing & comfortable to the point were you don't want to leave. I have sent all of girls to Richard and they are always happy with the outcome. I highly recommend you come down to 1501 Main Street Suite 103 and enjoy an amazing experience with Mr. Glass himself.

Glass hair is an amazing salon, with its relaxing atmosphere, and attention to detail, Richard is a magician, he turns frumpy into fabulous. Dated hairstyles are updated and at the end of your appointment you feel and look amazing, I always receive compliments when I leave his salon. I am so addicted to his expertise that I have weekly appointments and enjoy watching him make average people look spectacular, Ive also had makeup done by him for special occations resulting in makeup that rivals top artists, I highly recommend ehis salon , my mother, and several coworkers now go to him. Thank God for Glass hair!!! He also has his own product line , I can not live w/out his blow dry lotion Blow IT.

I was referred to Richard from a work colleague 1 1/2 years ago and haven't gone to any other stylist since. I'm very particular about who works on my hair and now Richard is the only person who is allowed to. His professionalism, artistic expertise, knowledge, honesty (whether or not something will look good on you and if not, he will suggest alternatives), attention to detail and good energy makes me feel beautiful on the inside and out. From cut, color, flat iron, perms, extensions, to funky styles, Richard can and will do it all for you (only if it will look good!). He also has his own product line which I started using last week. It's as if I have Richard with me at home!

PROS: Him, location, customer service, never have to wait when you have an appt.
CONS: 6 others from work who go to Richard that I have to compete w/4 an appt.

10 years ago I moved from Maui, and desperately needed to find a fabby male Hairstylist. I walked into this salon and saw the Glassman, who wouldn't do my hair because I didn't have an appt. Another person who knew nothing about how to do my hair ruined it. I got so mad, I came back for Glassman and he's been wonderful, I am extremely loyal to him, he makes me look like a million bucks every time I leave his salon. I have watched him build his own salon with massive success, I couldn't be happier for him. I am so impressed with the clientele he has generated, they're just as loyal to him as I. I'd die without my loving, talented, soulful, versatile, GLASSMAN. He can do all and any kind of hair brought his way, check him out, I promise you you won't regret it!!!!!!!

I wrote what was a fairly poor (3 star) review of the haircut I received just after the cut. The sideburns were a bit uneven, poorly shaved, and I was really not happy with the cut at the time. A good stylist can usually make a short haircut look good when it grows out. To be fair, after a few weeks of growing out, it looks considerably better. Probably not the best cut he's ever given but it looks pretty good, certainly worth four stars. I was honest at the time I wrote the initial evaluation and feel equally obligated to be honest now.

I haven't gone to the same stylist twice in years. I went to Richard because of the rave reviews on this site and hoped it wasn't a mistake. Well, IT WASN'T!
The shop is beautiful and Richard and his staff were amazing. Definiately not your run of the mill hair salon.
I've been a blonde all my life (and have needed help staying a blonde for the last 15 years).
I've been pretty happy with my color, but have been searching for a good colorist for a long time (not an easy find).
Richard colored my hair and WOW! It is now the most gorgeous blonde I have ever had. It's a shiny, carmely color with just enough highlights. I won't go to anyone else ever again...I'm officially hooked after one visit.
I haven't mentioned the cut yet! I went in with a blah bob type cut and wanted it cut short. Richard chopped away and by the time I was done I had the cutest haircut!
I just got it done yesterday and have done three different hairstyles with it and it's just perfect! Totally versitile.
Richard obviously has a gift and anyone that goes to him will know what I'm talking about.
I'm definately your newest loyal customer :o)

Working in "the industry" I have had my hair done by everyone from Jonathon Anton to the private stylists of Access Hollywood and I keep having to begg my way back into Glass Hair Design. Richard is beyond genius in his technique and personal consultations to maximize your personal look/style.

Every time I step onto the red carpet, Richard makes it possible for me to go toe-to-toe with international celebrities and not have to break a sweat! Because Richard specializes in everything I can go from long to short to long again without ever worring if my look will work.

I've been going to Richard for 12 years, have watched him grow and develop. I've been many different hair colors and styles, some fun, some conservative. I just left Glass Hair Design, and didn't want to forget to write this review.
I returned a week or two ago from Africa with ruined, ugly, YELLOW hair that hadn't been properly taken care of in months because where do you go when you're in Botswana?
Richard took my brassy-nasty hair and turned it into a lovely, attractive, AND, most importantly, natural blonde.
He's creative, witty, and completely funny. I couldn't be more thrilled with the results and with Richard. My goodness, there just aren't enough words. The atmosphere was great, he made me laugh so hard that my side hurt, and he made me feel incredibly comfortable. Anyone that thinks he did anything less than amazing is an imbecile.

Call him Neo because he IS the one. Unless you can do your own hair, please do yourself a favor and go see Mr. Glass.
You can be quiet and relax or you can get loud and act crazy, it's all up to you. One of the highlights besides the entertainment, wine and cappuccinos is not having someone waiting in line behind you to get their hair done, but you better be ready for some of the funniest characters on the West Side or probably West Coast to stop by and chop it up, not to mention the occasional celebrity. The prices are very reasonable for the service provided. I would recommend him to anybody.
If you want to do it right you have to hit the G-SPOT. Love u Rich!

Trying to get that perfect haircut and finding that talented person to do the job can be tiresome. But, about a year ago I was fortunate enough to come across one of the most talented professionals in the hair industry. THAT'S RICHARD GLASS!!! Never have I found a place where I've gotten a haircut that exceeds my expectations. And the added bonus to a great haircut is socializing and just having a great time. The minute you arrive you know you're in for the time of your life. I am a true and faithful patron. I drive an hour to get my haircut and IT'S WORTH EVERY MINUTE!!!

Richard Glass sets himself dramatically apart from other hairstylists in many ways, but two main reasons keep me loyal to him. First, you have his total attention. You are not handed off to an assistant during any part of your visit, and you know that you have his full attention from start to finish which enables you to feel confident that your hair will turn out phenomenal. Second, Richard has an amazing eye for detail and ability to craft a look that works well on you and looks natural. The proof is in the compliments I get from strangers... he changed my naturally blonde hair to red and new people I meet think red is my natural color. Anyone who knows hair knows that this is a very tricky color change and Richard made it beautiful. What's more amazing is that the haircuts are even better than the color. I have seen Richard create hairstyles on a variety of different types of hair and he always seems to know what works best for each individual.

I have had at least 20 stylists in my lifetime. Richard will be my last one. He is the finest color person I have ever met. He knows style and keeps up with trends. Every person I have ever sent to him looks and feels better about themselves. The cuts are cool and the blow drys are sexy. He is also a fabulous person - kind, funny, creative, caring, disciplined, fun, goal oriented.... You just feel good when you leave the place.

I have been a client of Glass Hair Designs for 15 years and can't tell you the number of times I have literally been stopped by people complimenting my hair (especially the color). Richard is an impeccible stylist and has managed to keep me looking fabulous with both super short and super long hair over the years. This is one aspect of my life I don't have to worry about because I know every time I go to see Richard, I'll come out perfect...well, at least my hair will.

I met Richard Glass over ten years ago by a co-worker and thank goodness I did. It is such a relief to know that I had finally found someone I could trust with my hair care. His cuts and color are the absolute best!

Glass Hair Salon has the feel of Beverly Hills in Venice, a World Class salon. I've been knowing Richard for a very long time, he feels like family. Very classy guy with a very professional and classy salon. He's a expert with color and cuts that are amazing. The prices are very affordable for the quaily and work that he does. Glass hair is the place for all of your styling needs. Richard knows so much about styling, maintaining, coloring, and cutting every type of persons hair.

I've seen every shade, style, and shape of person in there and not only do they look great when they leave, but they're smiling and feeling good about themselves.

I drive from the L.B.C. to get a trim because glass hair is an experience. It feels like home.

I always tell all my friends (men and woman) "You gotta go to my boy, he'll take care of you". I don't know if i can say that in confidence about anything or anyone else but glass hair most definately.

What can I say about GLass Hair Design... After being in California for a 3 years and trying different stylist, I have finally found the one. Richard Glass does an excellent job consulting me on hair care, maintenance and style. Richard help to create a style that was fit me. Other stylist want to give you something out of a book or the same style they have given 10 other customers. I also like the fact that I can relax when I am at Glass Hair Design, read a magazine, watch a movie or treat myself to a snack. Also, I don't have to worry about a salon full of people staring at me while I am being made faboulous. If you are looking for a stylist with a great sense of humor, business acumen and an eye for detail, stop by Glass Hair Design and experience Richard. You will bee hooked!!

A warm welcome, great conversation, a lot of laughs, and I left feeling more beautiful than ever. Sounds like a dream date...only it was a haircut.

Richard does it all: cut, color, hightlights, extentions, and more. He gives every one of his clients the most personalized attention. He is very accommodating to schedules, always willing to work with you. Plus he is always willing to help you try new looks, and if you don't like it he will work with you until you do. If it wasn't for Richard I would still be walking around with the "Rachel", how can I ever repay him?

The atmosphere at Glass Hair Design is chic yet relaxed. You can watch one of his many movies on the plasma screen, read magazines, or just listen to great music. He is a fantastic host, offering up great treats. And he is FUNNY...I mean really funny, he will have you in stiches the whole time. You never know who will drop in while you are there, everyone stops by to say hello when they are in the area. You may even find yourself doing the same...I did. Richard has always made me feel welcome, like family. That is something you can't find just anywhere. He has a client for life with me.

RIchard Glass of Glass Hair Design is wonderful! I'm someone who was scared to try a new style, but I was comfortable with Richard and trusted he would give me a great cut. I was right! The best cut ever and unless I move out of state, I will keep going back to him. The salon is really nice, he even offers bottled water and healthy snacks in the waiting area! I highly recommend him.

He's taken me through many hair transitions over the years....He has a very diverse clientele and unlike many stylists in L.A. can style black hair, and other hair textures. Dear Reader,

How do you feel when a person and a business that you have grown to love and appreciate is meliciously attacked? I don't know about you, but I feel protective and defensive. Molly B.'s review is the classic example of how we express our emotional anxiety through our hairstyles. Everything she wrote in her review is evidence that she should seek professional therapy for what is troubling her, and leave poor defensless hair stylists out of the turmoil and chaos that has obviously become her life. Let's begin with the address to the salon, it is WRONG! She didn't even get the city correct. For those in the know, Glass Hair Design is located in Venice. Richard insulted Molly B. by telling her that her hair looked bad, but she knew how bad it looked - that's why she came in for some help. Furthermore, I doubt that Richard cut off all her hair without her consent - and if he did she needs assertiveness training A.S.A.P. No man is coming at my head with a pair of scissors unless I consent for him to do so. Molly B. goes on to blame Richard because her hair hasn't grown in six months, maybe that's because of all the bad dye jobs that she had in the past?! Molly B. then goes on to blame Richard for having to re-vamp her image as an actress, and states that cost her hundreds of dollars. Are there any actresses out there reading this? Re-vamping one's image costs way more than hundreds of dollars. My aim here is to discredit Ms. B. and to insist that her review be removed from this site. She is clearly unstable and had an emotional meltdown, the remnants of which are unfortunately all over one of my favorite hair salons. Good news for Molly B., I am a professional therapist, and I can help.

I'm a guy. A simple guy. I don't like to pay $75 for a haircut, but I like to have a nice cut up there to impress the ladies, right?

Richard doesn't charge $75, he's got a plasma screen TV with 600 movies, there are DEFINITE BENEFITS to having a late afternoon appointment, and he's funny as hell.

If you want to go to an overstuffed trendy joint - Old Glory is down the street.

If you're looking for a kickass haircut, decent price, intelligent conversation - and BEAUTIFUL women - go here. Sometimes I just drop by to see who's in the chair, and when I'm lucky enough, it's the CoverGirl supermodel Alice.

I love the place. It's like cheers for hair.

After 24 years of searching for a stylist who can handle my hair, I was completely surprised and relieved to find Glass Hair Design. Being that my hair is very difficult to shape was no problem for Richard. I was looking for a look that made me feel great about myself and got reactions from others as well. The biggest problem I faced was finding someone who would allow me to shape my hair on my own, and still feel like I just left the studio... and I did!

Walk in to an amazing ambiance, drink fine wines, listen to great music and/or cinema, meet amazing people <a lot of whom were current celebrities!>, and walk out with an amazing look and feel.

I've been going to Glass Hair Design for a year and a half and will remain a loyal client. I prove this with my commute from Valley Village every time I want anything done. Last but not least, the prices are amazing, and this is coming from a full time college student.. Beat that.

PROS: Professional work and low cost, amazing ambiance, wonderful people.
CONS: Long commute if your coming from the Valley

I went to see Richard about image consulting as well as a style cut. We had an agreeable conversation and he made some very reasonable suggestions. When I left with my cut that he suggested, three things happened: 1. I felt better 2. Had an interesting cut that fit my style and my face 3. Women loved it.

That was almost 5 years ago and I have been a faithful client and friend since. I have to say that Richard is a rather unique individual who is also as real and reliable as it gets as far as Los Angeles.

Richard Glass serves up the best service, hair advice and chic shop surroundings that anyone could ask for. If you are looking for a new hair stylist, this is the place to visit - if you are tired of the Beverly Hills traffic, parking, prices and apppointment run-arounds, that I use to encounter, you will love and appreciate Richard's willingness to accommodate you. My appointments are usually in the evening or on Sunday (try booking a Sunday appointment in BH!) and I am pampered from the moment I step foot into Glass Hair. Fresh flowers arrangements, an array of music and an assortment of healthly eats and drinks awaits each customer along with Richard's ever present charm. Richard is a professional who stays abreast of the industry and coaches his clients on hair care 'do's' and 'don'ts'. As a long time client of Richard, he has groomed my hair into the best condition it has ever seen and manages my color and cut to perfection. Strangers ask me who 'does' my hair and I gladly share my source. This city could always use better do's!

PROS: Great cuts, color, service and fabulous shop enviornment.
CONS: None.

I went to Richard to get a bad dye-job fixed, and after insulting my hair (he said there is nothing uglier than dyed black hair--trouble was my hair is NATURALLY black, the bleached out roots were the problem!) he quickly said, "we're going to have to cut this short" and immediately cut off all of my NATURAL black hair, to the bleached out, brown roots. This was SIX months ago, and my hair is still only 4 inches long, at the longest point. As an actress, he set me back hundreds of dollars trying to re-vamp my image, and I will NEVER go back to him again. Think twice if you're looking for a stylist that will listen to what YOU want!

CONS: Insulting and overbearing stylist
