8/20/10...Please do yourself a favor and fine someone (anyone!) else to do your camera/optics repair. I live less than 10 miles from these folks and will never take any of my equipment to them again. Their pricing policy is simply outrageous. I was leaving on a six week photo shoot in a couple days (this is why I did not send it off to someone else) and had a professional lens with a stuck shutter. I told them to go ahead and fix it. They said they would need to order parts and it would be 10 days. They called back 30 minutes later and said it was fixed with a repair cost of $250.00. Upon repeated questioning, I was told all they did was a simple shutter adjustment...$250.00!!! At the same time I took in a pair of professional binoculars that had a loose mechanism which keeps the binoculars open in a rigid stance. Repair would be $150.00. I declined the repair and took the binos to a jeweler friend. He popped a cap, tightened a screw, and the binos worker great. Time of repair....45 seconds. This place does not deserve your business. There are other choices where they charge a FAIR price for services rendered. I tried to support a local business and feel very cheated. Stay away!

I have used Pro Photo repair several times I am a Professonal Photographer in Dallas Tx. I have sent them five diffrent cameras and got nothing but wonderful service from them and fast. I could not ask for any better service. Thank you guys.

got a callback in 1 day over July 4th weekend 2009.
good feedback and support. professional service. free check-up. their estimate for fix was in line with what I saw on forums.

I dropped off my camera to this store on May 30th, 2008. Today is May 2nd, 2009 and still no camera. Like many of the other comments left here, I called repeatedly and was promised calls back which I never received. I finally got Kelly (the manager) on the phone two weeks ago and he said he would investigate and call back the next day.Of course...never got that call. Left one more message last week with no reply. I have called roughly 15 times in the last year.

Went into the shop today and spoke face to face with Kelly. With a smug look, Kelly told me that the company title /ownership has changed and they were not responsible for my camera. He told me my camera had been sold a long time ago (Ahhh, could have told me that a long time ago???)

He then asked me if I had an attorney. Luckily I do. I will pursue this just because I was treated so poorly.

I have been very calm and understanding every time I have called and I was today too. I told Kelly I was very upset about the service I have received and that it made me angry that he never apologized. He said he had nothing to apologize about. I pointed out that he said he would call me back and never did. He said that was not his responsibility. Wow, stellar customer service.

I will be calling BBB and working with my attorney. Hopefully, something will happen and Kelly will learn something about ethics and business.

I wish I could zero stars, b/c giving one star feels generous.

The new store name is Pro Photo Repair.

I took my camera in before leaving for Africa to have some minor repairs and cleaning done and they actually BROKE the shutter! I didn't find out of course until after I got back from Africa with 30 rolls of film ruined! I also had a lens there on consignment and they filed for bankruptcy, so my lens was taken by the bank! Not sure I would recommend this company to anyone.

I ordered a part off their website and it never arrived. After waiting for a month, I called and spoke with a guy who said he was part-time and didn't know how to look up orders on their computer. I called back later and was told that they no longer operate this website, and they aren't the ones who took my money. I checked the name on my paypal invoice, called again, and lo! it turns out that person actually DOES work there after all. When I got him on the phone, it was the "part-time" guy who supposedly had nothing to do with the ordering system - and yet their website orders go to his paypal account? In speaking to this guy, he tried to say he was unaware of this order and never received any money from me, but finally admitted that he had received my money and would send out a new part. Still haven't received either the part or my money.

In short, don't buy from them. They are fraudulent, low, lying thieves.

Do NOT take your camera here. It is the worse customer experience of my life. People are very rude and do not communicate well. I took my fuji camera in for repair in April 08. I called several times to check the status of my camera and each time I was told someone would call me back but they never did. I finally got a call in June that my camera was ready and I was charged $180. I was not able to check if camera worked until a day later and guess what? My camera still did not work. I took camera in next day. Finally in July I got sick of waiting and asked for my camera back and refund. I was told the manager would call me but he never did. I even went in person to get my camera back but was told my camera was in pieces and manager was not there, but as usual I was told the manager would call me. It is now a week later and still no word, no camera and no refund.

I have a Canon EOS 20D. Very expensive unit. My friend dropped the camera and broke the lens and the bayonet mount.
Most camera shops wanted to charge me about half of what the unit was worth. Pro Photo gave me a MUCH better price, aswell a warrenty of 3 months.

I am now a regular (I get my CCD Cleanings there) at very resonable prices and the option of same day cleanings or next day cleanings.

I have no Idea why the review bellow says "horrible". Maybe the reviews are a bit outdated because my last visit to this location was PERFECT.

PROS: great prices/good front desk associates
CONS: Location is a bit hard to find without directions

I dropped my Canon sd300 and cracked the screen on the back. They repaired it in 3 days for an extremely reasonable price. I highly recommend these guys. professional service and reasonable prices.

5 months and still no camera! I have returned the camera three times and now the third time they sent it back to Fuji, I have been with out my camera for 5 months. $125 later, I still dont have a camera, and I will only be receiving a refurbished one from Fuji. Partially due to the inefficency of Fuji, but very minimal. No professionalism, just young and arrogant "customer service" reps at Professional Photographic Repair. Find some place else, any place, have your child work on it, it might get done quicker.

CONS: Too many to list, read review.

The other camera shop was infinitely better. i hope that no one makes the mistake that i made by going here... Go to Kurts Camera Repair they know how to take care of thier customers, they did great work on my digital SLR

the service that i have gotten from this place are satisfactory. they can definitely improve. their staff seem like they dont know where to find all the supplies. they have good prices though and if you know what you are looking for this place can be quite a bargain.if you are a beginner go somewhere where they can help you. quality supplies.
