One of my favorite things about living in San Diego are the beautiful Resorts in the area available to the locals.
Estancia is one of my favorites. I have been here a couple of times and had a better experience when I came during a week night.
My Sat appointment-I came for a massage and a pedicure. The spa itself is beautiful-but small. There were alot of people there on Sat and I didn't really get that ahh in spa feeling that day. Understandably so, I suppose it's always busy on a weekend. The locker rooms were slightly a mess, and the relaxation lounge was crowded.

However, my Tues night appointment was amazing. I came here to celebrate a friends birthday. I guess because it was a week night, we basically had the entire spa to ourselves. We both had a massage in their garden area-which is such an amazing experience. We then sat around their outdoor relaxing lounge with a fireplace. We enjoyed their eucalyptus steam room. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.
My massage therapist-Erin, is the best! She was very intuitive, used just the right amount pressure. It was thoroughly relaxing yet therapeutic at the same time. Felt like a new woman after the massage. I highly recommend her. My friend had Ed, and she told me it was one of the best massages, she has ever had.
I really love this Spa. It's close to home, yet makes you feel like you are in another destination. It is a small, cozy spa and I highly recommend coming here on a weeknight rather than a weekend.

I got a terrifically discounted rate of $122/night. When I arrived, I couldn't help but think that the room and experience was only worth $122. The mandatory valet at $25/day was outrageous and very awkward. I had to allow extra time in the morning to leave, I had to plan out my evenings carefully so that I wouldn't have to leave again. Urgh. And the amount of taxes and valet fee made a 2 night stay add up to $400!! I travel to San Diego once a month and will NEVER deal with this again!

My BF surprised me with a little mini vacation and booked our stay here. The room was big and beautifully decorated. The gardens were beautiful and the pool area was nice and relaxing although crowded. Short walk behind the hotel puts you right on the beach (after descending a lot of stairs!) with great views of the sunset.

Even though the resort is elegantly appointed, it didn't make up for the spa service. Having been to several DH&R resorts, this one left me lacking - which it shouldn't have, considering the price and location. The spa locker room was a mess, slippers were mismatched with the incorrect size, two left shoes, etc. and even though my group of girls were to receive the same spa service, we all had completely different experiences. Maybe we were just there on one of their bad days . . .

Sorely dissapointed after being greeted by the construction mess and unfriendly service. Watch out for the hotel resort fee unmentioned on the web site or by the staff. Hopefully this place will be better after the construction is complete in May....

I recently went to a holiday party that was held in one of the ballrooms. The environment was great, as well as the service and food. We later relaxed in the bar, which had a very attentive waitress, as well as a relaxing fireplace. I have recently become engaged, and looking into booking this location not only for the reception, but the ceremony as well.
