There was this older lady who was very unprofessional, discriminative, and rude. I wanted to buy 4 wrapped buns/breads. When she told me the total amount, I kindly checked with her if there was buy-1-get-1 free deal, as I remembered there used to be but I didn??t see any sign outside this time. She turned to me and asked me in the very unhappy and rude manners if I had smaller change when I said no. Then she was upset and said the buy-1-get-1 free was 7 mins later. I asked her if it was ok she held them for me and I bought them 7 mins later with the deal. She was not happy, put the breads aside, and oked that. So I went all the way back to the end of the queue waiting for my turn. While waiting, some Asian came in and the older lady nicely told them about the buy-1-get-1 free deal. I turned around to my friend and looked at him. He saw what happened earlier and we both felt really lousy. Firstly, that lady didn??t acknowledge me about the deal. Secondly, she was even rude and unhappy when I asked her about that. Finally, when it was my turn and it was way after 7 mins, I particularly went back to the very same lady because I thought she kept the buns for me. But she told me with very rude manner again that she didn??t have my buns and already put them back on shelves. When I heard that, I was very disappointed; because they were gone when they went back to the shelves. How could she be so discriminative, unprofessional, and rude!!! By the way, I am a mix (Asian and European mix). I also saw other non-Asian commenting about the discriminative situation at this store. Discriminative act like this should be known and reported.

Sheng Kee have the best mocha or lemon roll cakes. The flavors are to die for. All you have to do is cut the roll in slices and drink with your jasmine tea.

This Asian bakery offers many quality treats. They sell both desserts and bread. I strongly recommend their pineapple buns. The only downside is that they're more expensive compared to other Chinese bakeries.

PROS: great food
CONS: pricy

I often stop by if I'm in the area. They offer deliciously rolls, baked fresh daily for a couple of bucks. If I'm in the mood for something sweet, I lean towards the pineapple or custard buns. Slathered with white sugar and custard, it's definitely not the best for my diet. But you have to treat yourself at times!

Sheng Kee is a really popular chinese bakery that is known for their fresh bread varieties and delicious cakes. I drop by from time to time to pick up breakfast or lunch on the go. For breakfast, I opt for the sweet pineapple red bean bun or custard bun. For lunch, a ham and cheese bun or hot dog bun is good. If you haven't tried baked chinese buns before, it is a little bit sweeter and flakier than american bread, probably due to higher levels of sugar and butter. They add a lot more eggs, too. The prices here are cheap, the buns are only $75 cents to $1.50.
