this place has great prices on a lot of produce (limes, onions, peppers). who would have known that red and yellow peppers dont need to cost more than green ones? (hello, safeway??) and a whole tub of peeled garlic cloves for a buck? (hello, whole foods!!)
its not the cleanest place, and some of the produce isnt top quality. I've grabbed a few moldy limes in the past.
but it has a great selection of hard to find Asian ingredients... Thai basil/spicy basil (they dont actually call it that...its just their regular basil), coconut cream, fish sauce...
a great one stop shop for anyone doing Thai or other asian cooking.
from spices to live food, new may wah supermarket carries it all. the produce and fresh food taste great and never rotten. fresh prawns and clams are the best. on the other side of the store, they carry every sauce and spice an asian kitchen needs. best of all, the prices are cheap. you can not find a better bargain anywhere else in the richmond district. in addition to groceries, they offer a wide selection of cookies and candies from china and japan.
One of the larger seller of Asian related goods in the Richmond district. They offer a wide range of veggies, canned goods, meats, that are quite fresh and offer competitive prices. They are often pretty busy, but are often timely in there service. It's very difficult to find parking in that area during the weekends, however public transportation is widely available throughout the area. If your in the area stop by, and you won't be disappointed.
This place is my favorite. Here you can pick up any type of asian produce or grocery. The prices are way cheaper than any big corp supermarket. The vegetables are fresh and cheap. The prices dont really go on sale, but they really have everyday low prices. Dont worry the people dont just speak chinese, but english also. They have everything you need
For those who are not able to come into San Francisco's Chinatown to shop for their Asian grocery, Richmond New May Wah Supermarket will more than do. Really good prices compared to most other Chinese supermarkets (unless you compare it with Chinatown supermarkets), wide selection, and fresh vegetables and fruits make this supermarket a good choice. And it has a good edge over most other Chinese supermarkets, including the ones in Chinatown; Richmond New May Wah Supermarket has superior service that parallels that of Safeway, unlike most Chinese supermarkets in San Francisco.
This is a big grocery store on Clement. They sell fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, snacks, drinks, and much more. The stuff they have are pretty fresh and new. The place is sometimes a bit dirty with spillings on the floor. They have lots of nice items and a good selection to choose from. Parking may be hard to find in this area.
