I have taken my 2005 MINI Cooper S to all of the dealers in the Bay Area but couldn't find one I was completely happy with. The big advantages of an independent service shop over a dealer's service are:
1. You get to talk to Jacques Andres, the owner, who has been building race cars and engines for 18 years. His knowledge of the workings of BMW and MINI Cooper cars is very impressive. Way different from the dealer where you talk to a service writer and never to the guys who actually work on your car.
2. Bay Bridge Motors' labor rate is more than $50 per hour less than the dealer.
3. Intake and turn around time are much shorter.
