I used to order cakes monthly from Aux Delices for a club function. The cake is light and the frosting is too. Everyone loved all the flavors. The cakes aren't that cheap, but I also liked that they were open late so I didn't have to worry about refrigeration before the event.

When visiting Aux Delices, it's best to stick with the pastries and desserts because the lunch selections and soups are awful. They use very low-quality ingredients for the various sandwiches and salads - the soups are made from frozen concentrate and they don't bake their own loaves of bread! Breakfast is just ok as the crepes are oily and the eggs overcooked. If you just want a croissant and a cup of coffee it's the perfect place, but do not eat your meal there. Instead, head left on Colorado Blvd. to Le Pain Quotidien where you'll find much more sophisticated fare.

I was pleased to find out that they do serve breakfast all the time. The food there are good sized portions. I enjoyed the works breakfast sandwich with croissant. I had it with the fruit and hash brown. I wasn't too impressed with the hash brown but I had nothing to complain about the fruits. They were fresh, sweet, and nice and cold just like I like it! Breakfast was $27 but that included beverages plus cappucino and I left feeling good. The place is a bit hard to find, several stores West of Cheesecake Factory. The seating is limited, and it really does look like a French cafe.

Pros: Great Breakfast!!

I was drawn to this place right away by its cute french cafe inspired decor and fresh and delicate menu. My friend and I were greeted as soon as we walked and were immediately surprised by the inexpensive prices displayed on the over the counter chalk board menu. The menu isn't extensive but contains a small selection of omelettes, sandwiches, bagels, salads, soups and homemade pizzas. I was looking for something sweet and salty and order the apple cinnamon, walnut and cheese omlette which was surprisingly delicious and the perfect combination of ingredients! The croissant that came with my meal wasn't the best i have ever had, but the coffee I had was good and the display of desserts looked incredibly tempting. The service was quick and friendly and the cafe was a very nice hideout from the bustle of Colorado blvd in old town.

It's right in the middle of Old Town Pasadena which makes it very convenient especially if you are looking for something to grab for breakfast. There are only a hand full of places that you can buy a bagel or a croissant from and the price is reasonable. There is only a limited amount of seating but I've never had a problem sitting down. They give you a great selection of pastries and simple breakfasts.

Don't let the decor throw you -- it's a real French-style bakery in the middle of Old Town. Good pasteries and club sandwiches.

Serves up what is quite simply the best croissant I've ever had. The atmosphere in Old Town Pasadena is wonderful--sitting at Aux Delices Bakery and enjoying coffee and pastries is a heavenly way to spend a morning. Believe they have deli options in addition to the usual baked goods, and plenty of tables for relaxing at. A wonderful bakery.
