Since 1992 we have been creating the tastiest North Indian Dishes with the best value for our loyal customers in San Francisco and now in Walnut Creek in a clean, comfortable, intimate, family-oriented atmosphere. We have plenty of spacious booths and tables to accommodate your group (up to 30) 7 days a week. If you would like to make arrangements for a Private Party or catering for your event, just give us a call and we'll work with you to help make your event a success.
An Indian place that delivers??? Yes!! I was thrilled. The food is sometimes too hot, but they usually get it right. I've probably had their food at least 100 times. The only thing I've had issues with other than too much spice sometimes is that sometimes their chicken is a little dry. Otherwise, it's fresh and good. The wait and phone staff are really nice, too.

The Okra was sooo good! The sauce was delicious with a perfect spicy bite. Also had the samosas , lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. All were very delicious. I had it as take out, but I will definitely try dine-in.

A friend and I went to this restaurant for dinner. I remember not thinking the food was very good lasttime I went but I thought I would give it another chance. Well, we were served spinach during the E.coli scare. My date politley told the waiter that spinach has been pulled by the shelves because of the E.coli scare and that almost 100 people have died. The waiter LITERALLY told us that there is NO E.coli scare and if there was, the spinach is fresh(fresh spinach is the worst for transmitting E.coli! - you can't wash it off!). My date proceeded to tell him that spinach has been pulled from the shelves and that he should tell the cooks. He disrespectfully laughed at my date like he was an idiot and LITERALLY said "ya ya ya" and walked away!! It is a real lack of respect to the customer to serve spinach during a national E.coli scare because you are too worried about how much $$ you would lose throwing it out and also ignorant(it is on tv and in the newspapers) to put people in the SF community in possible harms way. Think of what else they might do in the kichen to save $ that might be harmful to the customer? At the end, the waiter charged us and made us pay for the spinach dish whether we wanted to eat it or not due to fears of E.Coli! I told the waiter that I am never coming back to this restaurant because I told him that I don't think we have been treated right. The waiter sent the water person to wait on us the rest of the time we were there in response to this.
On a side note, when we first ordered our food before the above happened, I asked for garlic naan as opposed to plain naan that came with my particular dish, the waiter told me "no, I can not do this" even though I was willing to pay more. I ended up ordering vegetable yellow curry and it literally tasted like it came from a can (and then I remembered why I stopped coming to this place-there are so many great Indian restaurants in SF that serve great food, why go here?)
Cons: Food, Service, Uses Fresh Spinach during E.Coli Scare

I love Indian food and this is the third time I have been to Bombay hoping it will get better as its close to my home. We tried to get takeaway on this attempt. They were rude, understaffed and not really interested in working. We had a voucher to get discount on takeaway and they said it was not valid. Despite it stating valid anytime to Dec. I asked to speak to the manager and they said he was away and Kietak said he didn't give a damn about take aways as they were so busy. If you want cold, #slop# thinly dressed up as Indian food, with poor service and poor hygience this is the place for you. Very dissapointing.
Pros: Location
Cons: Poor service, lack of attention to detail, terrible staff that don't care

We have ordered online from Bombay Indian once to twice a month for the past two years, at least. This place is great! We used to order our standard: Pakora Palak, Alu Pratha (naan), Saag Paneer, Chicken Masala, and some sort of Tandoori. However, over the past 6-8 months, we've ventured from our "norm". So far, everything we've tried has been delicious! it's safe to say we've made it through at least 3/4 of the menu. Delivery is reliable, the food is always consistent & delicious, and without fail arrives piping hot. Specifications on the spiciness level is always right on. We love this place, and will continue to order from there and explore their menu often.
Pros: Delivery, delicious food
Cons: Cons?

I am delighted to have found this place! The food is exquisite, the staff is very affable, and the ambience is perfect for romance. It's not over crowded and there is a comfortable amount of lighting. I was very pleased with this restaurant. I would recommend it to anybody who appreciates good food and great service.

No jokes! this restaurant is the best around here when it comes to indian cuisine. If you talk only about food, gosh it taste really good. but too bad this isn't only about food the atmosphere is great, it is small so you don't find yourself in the middle of the noise. the decoration are just gorgeous, the price is good also, and most of all the service is really great. the waiter will be always nice, at your service and ready to give you some advice. To make it short a good place to go with your friends, or girlfriend if you want to enjoy the taste of THE INDIAN FOOD!

It is riddiculosly hard to write about this resataurant in 150 words or less, i have been around to loads of indian resataurants but the food and service i here was absolutely class. And not just the food, the ambience deserves appreciation as well. I will no doubt recomend this restaurant to anybody who savies delicious food and friendly servers. Two big thumbs up.

OK, i read some of the reviews & was quite taken back by some of the comments. I have been here once & let me tell y'all that i m only going 2 go here for Indian food! Damn, this place rocks. Not very crowded, fun atmosphere & very artisitic paintings! The staff is amazing. They will get u wat you want & without rippin you off. I was there with my fiancee and the waiter told us not to order too much, wait and see what we have first and then order later! Where do you get waiters like this? The food was amazing. not too creamy & perfect blend of spices. this food was hella good, unlike Indian oven or Naan Curry where its all creamy. Nice energetic music too, dont know why other restaurants dont play the same kind. Highly recommended place
Pros: Cool Staff!, Reasonable, Great food

We usually order online and it has been great- love these dishes: Lamb Boti Masala, Chicken Makhanwala curry and the Krahi stirfry with prawns. Good people!
Pros: Chicken Makhanwala, Krahi stirfry, Fast Delivery

I will keep it simple unlike most of the reviews.
Food- Excellent. It was perfect. I asked for Hot & not too hot or medium, they made it exactly how i wanted. Try the Saag Panner with Garlic Naan.
Service- Its all guys! But they are hella cool and will listen to you! They wont try to take more money out of your wallet, instead will advise you honestly on how much and what to order. And trust me, the choices were just amazing!
Prices- Its ok. I wouldnt say its too expensive, but its not cheap either. It is moderate. But what the heck! We are living in SF people!! So according to that, its pretty good.
Overall: I love this restaurant & so do all my friends. It is the best restaurant in Castro!
PS: Try the booths in the very back. They can BE very ROMANTIC!!

I've been here twice and both times the naan was dry, the chicken tikka masala was BLAND, the waiters were rude and the bill was 3 times more expensive than much better places like Naan and Chutney (lower haight) and Pakwan (mission).
Don't go here because it's close. Walk or drive the extra few minutes and have a much better meal at 1/3 the price.

It sounded like a good deal, and there were several choices, including bread, entrees, and desert. But the food was not worth the price. The chicken tikka was bland and full of bones: who wants boney chicken? The sauces are heavy. Desert was poor as well: Gulab Jamun was oily and syrupy. Yuck! I go to some cheap place next time: I'd rather get good food and less of it than unlimited less-than-satisfactory food.
Pros: Cheap lunch
Cons: Food

It's not bad. But not that great. I've ordered it for delivery on numerous occasions because it is better than a lot of other delivery options. In a moment of desperation, I will probably order it again. But it is considerably overpriced for the portions and the quality is inconsistent. Some nights it will be pretty good, other nights are disappointing.
The Kashmari naan is delicious. The Bhindi masala was the most disgusting thing to grace my lips for a very long time. The Tikka Masala is pretty decent.
Don't bring friends/ dates to Bombay as a represenation of Indian food. Save it for those nights when you want to veg out with comfort food and a DVD by yourself... after payday...
Pros: delivers, decent veggie options, delivers
Cons: overpriced, small portions, inconsistent

This restaurant is the place to be at for a simple, North Indian food. Its not only about the Indian spices but also the flavor that comes with the right mix of the Indian spices. The consistency (other entrees as well) of Sag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala and Baigan Bharta dipped with Garlic Bread is the best one can go for. In addition, their wait staff, management and kitchen staff are quiet friendly. I give an A+ to this restaurant in the Castro.
Pros: Customer Service, Rich Ambience, Selection of Wine
Cons: Wish for outdoor seat

It is hard to miss this restaurant if you really want the taste of traditional north Indian cuisine. The serivice is exceptional and the ambience is so soothing. I have tasted quiet a few entrees on the menu and must say, they prepare it just the right way. The food has a good balance of Indian spices and not creamy as well. I was there last weekend and learnt they had Vegetarian specials in the evening. You order one Veg. entree and get an other FREE. This is such a good deal. I just freaked out on Sag Paneer, Baigan Bharta and their Chicken T. Masala's and was charged for two entrees. A must go for all you Indain food lovers.
Pros: Music, Ambience, Service
Cons: Is there one?

Bombay is one of the best indian restaurant i have ever seen in san francisco. The food is of GREAT Quality.
Pros: Excellent Staff, Great Food

This is infact the only restaurant I would pick anyday to go to when I need to chill out. The Food is excellent, the service great and the management most cordial.I cant imagine why anyone wouldnot like Bombay India. We went over almost after they almost closed once and the management opened the doors for us even though it was quite late.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good food at reasonable prices. All my friends too prefer this place.

We've only eaten in here once, but we've ordered take-away tens of time. The food is average, although over-priced. Why do we keep ordering? Well, it 'only' takes 45 mins to an hour to arrive (compared to many more Indian delivery services that take up to 1.5 hours). When asking for a meal to be prepared 'hot' and trying to specify, yes 'hot, please, but not ridiculously hot', curries have been anywhere from tasteless to inedibly hot. If I could have been bothered, I would love to have taken it back and dared anybody in the kitchen to even taste it. They were obviously taking the piss. I'm a Brit, so Indian food is the take-out of choice. However, the delivery men have recently become so rude, that I've vowed to take my chances finding a new restaurant. Any suggestions for Mission/Soma/Potrero based delivery?
Pros: delivers at all
Cons: expensive, uninspired, food is often wrong

I have been to this restaurant and the best thing about this palce is their food being so consistent. The staff is great out there and the service is quiet good. The new ambience is looks very rich with excellent art work on their walls. I'd highly recommend this place.....worth checking it out!

We've had delivery from here many times over the past 2 1/2 years and the food is consistently great. Our first time dining at the restaurant was a wonderful experience. Great food, great wait staff. Cannot wait to go again.
Pros: great food, great value

I can't believe that people didn't enjoy Bombay. We love it and everyone that I know when they come to visit, if a reasonably priced, local India meal is what is in store, we are there!! They opened their doors to us one holiday weekend and gave us awesome service even though they had closed. They are great!!
Pros: Inexpensive, Service

The editorial was pretty accurate actually, I just went there tonight and I had the food was very typical, not too good not too bad, and I have definitely had better indian food somewhere else.
