All my pets get very excited when I pull into the parking lot because they love Dr. Jordan. He is kind and explains everything thoroughly. Pricing is reasonable for the amount of attention and time he spends.
I'm surprised by the negative reviews. Maybe they mistakenly went to Cahuenga Pet Hospital instead? My dog almost bit me trying to get out of there, dragging me back to the car.
I have been taking my animals to Dr.Jordan for twenty years. His staff is very friendly and he spends as much time as needed with me and my pets. He is always just coming back from continuing education classes and knows all the new techniques and products. I highly recommend Dr. Jordan to you and your pets.

Dr. Jordan has incredible insight and wisdom that comes from his 30+ years as a Veterinarian. I have been a taking my dog to him for 5 years and my cat for 12 years. He has been great for all the care that my pets have needed. Last May I took my dog to see Dr. Jordan for routine check up and I mentioned how destructive my dog can be when I leave the house. Dr. Jordan asked me some specific questions about the behavior of my dog and then talked to be about a new product on the market that can help dogs that have this problem. I tried it and it worked. I no longer worry about leaving my dog alone. Dr. Jordan is not only wise but he also on top of new and innovative products involved in practing animal medicine.

I have known Dr. Jordan since I was a child. He Treated all of our family cats and dogs over the years. My parents still take there Cattle Dog Honey to Melrose La Brea even though they have since moved to Woodland Hills. I am shocked that the previous posters could write such despicable things. Dr Jordan has shown nothing but kindness and compassion to my family and pets. If he was such a horrible DVM, how could he have lasted 30 years?

Apparently people are writing good reviews for this place because they don't realize that there are much cheaper and better places out there.
Just went in and was quoted $800 worth of unnecessary work/tests. Went to another vet after with the same animal and paid $225. That is almost $600 difference. Who has $600 to throw away on nothing. I certainly don't. And the things that were suggested were completely contradicted by the other vet. Unbelievable. Be careful. Apparently vets are like mechanics if you don't know what they are talking about. Make sure the person is trustworthy.
I worked an animal hospital that got his patients after seeing him just once. I was in the courtroom when his license was under investigation, which eventually was revoked and, unfortunately, was stayed. Check out the Better Business Bureau for his history. I would never bring an animal to his practice.
Although it has been a few years since I made the mistake of bringing my puppy to Melrose La Brea Animal Hospital for emergency care, my experience was so terrible that my family and I still regularly discuss it to this day, so I felt I should report it. From the looks of it, I was not alone in my negative experience.
I have never, I repeat, NEVER, had a worse experience in my life. I was helping my daughter move into her new apartment in Laurel Canyon. We had a 3-month old Australian Shepherd puppy at the time, so we took him with us rather than leave him alone all day.
Unfortunately, construction on the apartment had only been completed a few days prior, and we didn't notice all the leftover nails lying around the area. Our puppy stepped on one and sliced his paw. He didn't even yelp, but we saw huge drops of blood covering the floor, so we thought we should be safe and take him in to a vet.
Being new to the area, we looked up the closest vet using the yellow pages. I wish we'd had internet access! Dr. Jordan was the most incompetent man I have ever encountered. He put a MUZZLE on a 3-month old puppy because ""you never know what they'll do when they're in pain."" I had been poking, prodding and examining the bloody area for at least 20 minutes and our puppy didn't even notice.
He noticed the muzzle though. He went from calm and sweet to absolutely terrified. Just a quick side-note- I have had several dogs, and none of them, including this one (who is now 3 years old) have EVER needed a muzzle, and I've been to at least 10 other vets. At legitimate veterinary establishments, muzzles are reserved for truly aggressive dogs.
His assistants (he need TWO to hold down a 3-month old, 15 pound puppy) clearly had NO training at all... I'm not exaggerating when I say I think he picks them up at day-labor sites. The entire episode was turning into a circus act, so I stepped in an calmed our puppy down. It was unbelievable (my daughter later said it felt like a prank, or some reality show called ""Punked."") A total joke.
When inspecting the wound, Dr. Jordan couldn't even figure out what was going on. His eyes are so bad he couldn't even see where the blood was coming from, or that there was a HUGE flap of skin that clearly needed to be trimmed off of the paw pad. When he began bandaging the paw, I interjected and suggested we cut off the flap and put some antiseptic ointment on the area first. With a surprised look, he exclaimed, ""Oh, yeah! That would be a good idea.""
Even though I did most of the work and the bill was far too high, we just paid and got out of there as fast as possible.
There was one upside to the whole experience- I learned that if I don't feel comfortable in a doctor's office (pet or human), I have the right to leave at any time. I should have left this place right away. Going here was surreal, to say the least.
DO NOT COME HERE.
Dr. Jordan took care of my kitty so many times & with so much love & compassion, I am forever grateful.
His staff is sweet, professional, loving & caring.
After years of crappy, high priced, fancy Vets., Dr. Jordan is a down to earth relief!
Pros: Most Compassionate Vet Ever!
This man is evil! Do not take your pet here! My poor puppy cried and wimpered as he shoved an instrument down his throat for a regular checkup. He yelled at me for not holding my dog tightly by the throat as he was analy taking his temperature and checking his heartbeat at the same time. My poor puppy was shaking and he's been fine at 3 other vet visit at another vet, reason why I went here was that I got an appt right away and now I see why. This place is awful and he's a weirdo. And my previous negative review was erased! Any positive review must be rigged. Oh and he was ridiculously over priced.
Pros: feel sorry for the girl that works there
Cons: everything else
I took my cat here after receiving horrible treatment at ADVANCED CRITICAL CARE in Culver City and the Dr Jordan took great care of my cat. He even let it stay an extra day free of charge because he was concerned about my kitty and knew that I had already spent a fortune at ACC. I will always take my pets here for the lovely people that work here...the nurse was so sweet as well, looks like she really adores animals. What a find!
Pros: Exceptional loving service
Cons: Place look old
My dogs have been to 2 other vets in LA, and dragged me to the car whimpering. Dr Jordan is firm-handed but does not make them nervous. They always leave wagging, even after shots and (rear-end) temperatures. \r
\r
My rabbit lived to a ripe old age of 10 with all his teeth, and actually sat still for him too. \r
\r
Procedures are explained thoroughly with options, and I'm given all the prices up-front. He's a good resource for any questions, and never rushes me. He schedules ""patients"" so there isn't a backlog, and spends as much time as you need. They also do pet boarding on the weekend, which is nice when you animals already know the place -- my rescue dogs don't feel abandoned, they get several walks, and they come home happy. \r
\r
All positive! The difference between a great general practitioner and ""managed care"" at other places is a no brainer for me.
Pros: 2 generations of pets love Dr. Jordan!
Just got back from a terrible visit to this office. I feel like a horrible parent for bringing my kitties to a place that would traumatize them! Our cats have been to 2 other vets since we've had them and never have they gotten so scared and upset as they do with Dr. Jordan. He immediately puts a leash around their neck, which if you know anything about cats, they hate. So right off the bat, they were scared and fighting him off. Our older one got so upset he was hissing and growling and jumped off the table. Dr. Jordan had his nurse put a 2nd leash around his neck to restrain him which further upset him so he started flailing. It go so bad his claw got stuck on the leash and he was choking himself. I'm not exaggerating, he tongue was sticking out of his mouth and he was gagging! Dr. Jordan was out of the room answering a phone (isn't that his receptionists job) and the nurse did nothing until we demanded she release the leash and my husband got his claw out and freed him. I feel so aweful for subjecting them to this. Will never return. Then to have to pay $122/cat for such horrible treatment doesn't sit well with me. $122 for basic vaccines and a checkup!\r

When you arrive to an office and are the only people there for an hour and a half, that's a dead giveaway that there's a reason no one else is there.
Pros: close to home. and that is the only Pro.
Cons: Everything
I brought my cat here when she was sick. All the vet wanted to do was clean her teeth, and wanted to put her under anesthesia to do it. He was obsessed with it. He wouldn't even give her a shot without putting her under anesthesia because she was hissing. This cat didn't even have claws! Also there were at least four vet assistants standing around in the room watching the entire thing. It was actually creepy and all I wanted to do was leave. Before I left, I got an estimate for what he wanted to do which was several hundred dollars. I immediately went to another vet where they had no problem giving her a shot and didn't try to force extra expenses on me. I would never trust this vet or his staff.
I have tried 4 vets since I got my little dog in February, and each one has had something wrong with it. Mostly have found uncaring, cold vets... until Dr. Jordan. Simply, the best vet in L.A.! His whole staff was so nice, and compassionate, towards my little dog and I. Being a new dog owner; I have a lot of concerns for my dogs wellbeing, and when he got a little cold rencently; I took him to see Dr. Jordan, and was so thrilled with the results. He was VERY informative on each step he was doing, and took the time to SHOW me how to properly give a dog (liquid medication). I took him in yesterday for an ear infection, and today he is already feeling better. I feel better knowing I found a vet that I trust, and treats us with the compassion my dog and I deserve. THANKS TO THE WONDERFUL, CARING STAFF, AND TO DR. JORDAN!! We will be loyal cumstomers.
Pros: Very caring, professional and close to my house
Cons: nothing
In PA my cat went through all the tests and in the end was diagnosed with cancer. I was told what signs to look for to know when it got to bad. Once these signs showed up I took my cat in here in CA. They were very accepting of taking on this new patient and allowing me to send the paperwork from one vet to another so the cat and I wouldn't have to go through more testing. I was a mess from the moment I brought her in the door, knowing what had to be done after 11 years together. I've had cold vets over the years and I was so impressed by the compassion and heart the entire staff showed me. He explained her diagnoses to me in a way I understood. After confirming what I expected to happen, I wasn't rushed when I took a few moments for the news to set in. I've seen a lot of vets man handle animals. They even allowed me to come in on a Saturday so I wouldn't have to do it on a work day. Everyone handled her as I would have. It was extremely comforting. I would recommend this entire staff. I was so impressed. Some wrote they were expensive and I did not feel that way at all.
Pros: compastionate and caring.
Dr Edd Jordann and his staff are knowledgable and caring. I have been a client of his since 1972 and have found that they go the extra mile to take care of our beloved animals. I recently had the sad occasion to have my dog euthanized and Dr. Jordann and his Saturday staff extra spent time with me and my aging and ailing pug. It was a really sad visit but it was handled with the usual caring and attention I have come to expect from Dr. Jordann.
I'm really shocked at the negative reviews I see here. My experience with Dr. Jordan is just the opposite. I had taken my cat to another vet last Spring, and paid a lot of money to be told everything was fine. It wasn't. My cat had developed diabetes and then diabetic neuropathy. He was one sick cat when I brought him to Dr. Jordan. He was so thorough and compassionate, and really took care of my cat in such a loving way. I'd recommend him to anyone. And, by the way, I know his care doesn't come cheap, but he really was half as expensive as the vet I took my cat to before.
Pros: Really loves animals
Cons: Somewhat expensive
i don't know why the person below gave this place a bad review. that's bunk. they are very clean and VERY helpful and sweet. dr. jordan is a smart vet who gives you personal attention, which is a lot more than i can say for any other vet i've been to. and my bill wasn't outrageous for shots and deworming - you should expect to pay a lot for a sick pet. come on! this place is awesome, i'll never take my molly anywhere else.\r
\r
love you dr. jordan!
Pros: parking in back
Cons: nothing
This was a terrible experience for us and for our puppy.\r
\r
Our puppy was sedated without our being asked. Since they did not ask , they also did not know if the puppy had allergies, or how recently he had eaten - both very important things to know before sedating an animal! And the only reason he was sedated was so he'd be easier to bathe, according to the receptionist, who admitted that she forgot to ask us because she was ""new"". This was a totally unnecessary risk we never would have agreed to. She then tried to keep the dog overnight (incurring hospitalization fees) for ""observation"", even though she was the only one on the premises, and ""not a doctor"". I would strongly suggest you go elsewhere!
Cons: Doctor not always on premises, untrained staff forgets to ask important questions or get permissions
I have taken both of my cats to Dr. Jordan, and I've been very pleased with the care that he has given them. He is more thorough than other vets I've worked with. For example, he checked for corneal abrasions in my cat, Millie (she has chronic conjunctivitis due to a herpes virus that she contracted while she was a stray) and sent us home with an antibiotic (she did, indeed, have abrasions, which he showed me), a dietary supplement to slow the reproduction of the virus, and two eye ointments. He also wanted to see her back in 2 weeks to see how she was responding to the treatment. I took her in with the same problem to a different vet a year ago, and she only gave me an ointment and the supplement and did not schedule a follow up. The problem returned a few weeks later. I believe that Dr. Jordan really knows his stuff, and he's been practicing for nearly forty years. As my story demonstrates, he's very thorough. I also found him to be readily accessible (I called at 7 p.m. and he answered the phone himself and scheduled an appointment for my cat the next morning at 8 a.m.). Most importantly, Dr. Jordan and his assistants were gentle and kind to my cats, even though Millie can be quite grouchy when she goes to the vet. I've noticed that others say he might be more expensive, and I would attribute this to the fact that he is thorough. I did spend more on my cat's eye treatment this time around, but as I indicated, he gave her better care than the other vet, and her eyes are looking much better. I would highly recommend Dr. Jordan!
Pros: Knowledgeable, kind vet, very accessible
Cons: Might be more expensive, but the care is better
I am so pleased with the care my cat, Boodles received from Dr. Edd Jordan. Being new to the area, finding a vet that I could trust was important. I was sent to Dr. Jordan by a referral and was so impressed with the care he delivered to my dear Boodles and his explanations to me that I am recommending him to all of my friends. Dr. Jordan is committed to his profession and has a compassionate caring manner. Boodles is fine and I have Dr. Jordan to thank.
Pros: Service and Attitude
Cons: Parking may be limited, but isn't it everywhere in LA?
Knowledgeable old school doc is thorough and kind, he offers complete detailed explanations and is patient and responsive with questions. In business at this location for many, many years. The office is dated but the service can't be beat. You really get the feeling that they really care about the animals they treat and that you are not just another number moving by on the conveyor belt. All 3 of my animals have been treated by Dr. Jordan, though most often it's Penny, the Dalmatian garbage disposal, who has eaten tin cans and Christmas trees. I too have had sticker shock on some visits but you have to remember, you get what you pay for and cheaper/shinier is not the same as better.
Pros: Thorough care, ease of communication with the doc, house calls
Cons: Older office but who cares
I'M SHOCKED TO SEE ALL THESE POSITIVE REVIEWS. I MUST ASSUME THESE PEOPLE ARE SOMEHOW RELATED TO THIS FACILITY. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE. THIS GUY WAS INCREDIBLY ROUGH TO MY PET AND UNJUSTIFIABLY EXPENSIVE. HE ALSO WAS TRYING TO PULL AN ADDITIONAL $500 OUT OF ME! UNLESS YOU'D LIKE TO PUT YOU PET DOWN, I CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS VET!
Pros: housecalls
Cons: rough, expensive
This vet was outrageously expensive, and put our cat under anesthesia without our consent. He charged us almost $500 for tests and medicine for a upper respitory infection that cost us only $150 (for two cats!) when we went to the V.C.A. The office is old and unorganized, and my phone calls were unreturned when I called for the very expensive (and unnecessary) test results.
Cons: too expensive, too many tests, the vet acted like a used car salesman
Although it can be a bit pricey- I'm getting the best care... And, for my puppy- i wouldn't settle for anything less.\r
You can tell, even meeting him for the first time, that he loves animals... And will take great care of your pet... As he does mine.
I wanted a second opinion on my puppy and went b/c of the great reviews. However, nobody seemed to mention how expensive it was! The doctor is great and gave me a lot of helpful tips so the consultation fee of $55 was not bad. However, he wanted us to hospitalize our dog and quoted us MINIMUM $900 for 2 days. We paid alot for our little puppy but paying $900 minimum with the possibility that costs could be more was just unimaginable.
Pros: Great Doctor, Nice Nurse, Knowledgeble Doctor
Cons: Old Building, Unorganized
What I like about Dr. Jordan is his old school approach to veterinary care. Recently, my puppy had some spots on his skin. Another vet initially checked him out, did a skin scrape but found nothing. Sent us home...well, we wanted a second opinion. Dr. Jordan's knowledge was phenomenal. He immediately suggested what needs to be done. We took him up on his recommendations and we saw the results within a short time. And he's absolutely wonderful with us and our dog.
Pros: reasonably priced, very friendly
Dr. Jordan really took the time to listen to all the symptoms and changes my sick cat was going through, not like some vets who seem to think they know your pet's problem before you can tell them anything. He was very nice, and really kept me informed about how my cat was doing throughout his hospitalization, and was easily accessible and helpful when I had questions.
Pros: easy parking, accessible vet, friendly staff
Excellent doctor who is certified in many states. He is a fountain of information and extremley helpful! Definately recommended.
Pros: family doctor feel, takes his time, helpful staff
