Guitar Center is where you go if you're at your practice space and your last drumstick breaks. \nGuitar center is where you go to pick up a nice microphone, record with it, and then return it because you ""didn't like it."" \nGuitar Center is where you go to feel smarter than everyone else, but only because everyone else is stupid.\n\nWhen you walk in, you're greeted by some hot girl who checks in you and any gear you brought with you. At this point your ears will be assaulted with the noise of amateur guitarists, keyboardists, drummers, bassists, and the completely musically retarded who have taken up residence at the bongos. It has the feel of an air-conditioned flea market.\nAnd the people helping you give off the same vibe. I believe it's because they are paid on commission, but if you're not buying anything, don't expect them to be very open to having conversations about your favorite amps or cymbals. \nHowever, as soon as you show yourself to be interested in making a big purchase, they become very nice and quite knowledgeable about the instruments they're selling.\nStill, smaller shops like buffalo bros, music mart, and the rhythm house possess an endearing sort of quirkiness, and a feeling of genuine care for the customers, that Guitar center seems to lack.\n\nIn addition, most of the gear here is geared toward consumer-level musicians. They carry very few prescision-tuned studio monitors, or boutique guitar pedals, or festival-quality speaker arrays. In addition, their ""Vault"" of vintage instruments is the smallest room of the store. \n\nIn short, if you need something musical, they've probably got it at Guitar Center. But if you wanna find that 1971 Fender Music Man bass with a short-scale neck and a cracked, faded finish, you should look elsewhere.

Pros: Has at least some of everything, good return policy

Cons: Service, Metal Kids, Limited High-end and Vintage Gear

THis store offers a huge variety of musical instruments. YOu can find almost anthing you came looking for in this one store. The only problem is the service. The employies really dont care about everyone who walks in to the store so the tend to ignore you almost every second. They only take an interest in you if your are going to buy something. Plus they are always trying to trick you into buying the most expensive stuff when you dont even need it

Guitar Center has a ton of guitars at decent prices. You can hook them up to the amps and test them out, but you won't get a lot of help from the staff. I would recommend that you buy guitars used or online if you really want a good price. Also, the location for me is really far away so I'd rahter go to Guitar Trader where I got my guitar.

The best thing about guitar center is that they have almost every instrument you can want. However, if you are a kid the service is mediocre. The employees assume you are just one of the 100s of kids that come in everyday to play that special guitar you can't afford so they don't care about you. If it is guitars that you want, Guitar Trader in Clairmont was able to offer me a better deal on the guitar I wanted with more freebies as well. Guitar center has a good selection but at Guitar Trader, you can get it on special order so it's the same.

The customer service at Guitar Center is super. They have everything you need for a rock band. Everyone is very helpful and they have their instruments displayed for you to try out and you can play them all day if you want, so don't be shy to ask if you can play a thousand dollar guitar. They will be more than happy to assist you. The prices are very reasonalbe.
