Mitsuru cafe has been around for years. Imagawayaki (red bean cake) and mitarashi-dango they offer are freshly made and very tasty. Fish cakes, takoyaki and fried shumai on stick are good as well. I have never tried their food served inside the restaurant.

There is no better place to get a quick bite on the run then this quaint place. To harried to sit and eat, try the front counter where a couple of friendly ladies fry up different appetizer and desert tidbits that are both hot and delicious. I like the squid on a skewer, and the fish cakes, as well as the gyoza, little pork dumplings. There are also fish and shrimp snacks on a skewer. My companion likes the sweet red beans in a doughy bun. You can also order this food from the front and eat it at your table. I do this when the service is spotty.

The restaurant is a traditional place that has been here for a long time. I?ve been eating here since 1980. Service is always pleasant, if not swift, but then why hurry if you?re going to enjoy a good meal. I personally like beef teriyaki, but there are better places to get it. However, it is not bad. The beef is tender, fresh and of good quality. The Shrimp Tempura is outstanding? crisp, hot and succulent. Perfect actually! The assorted Ramens are standard fare, inexpensive and adequate, with a rich, tasty broth The grilled mackerel is excellent? rich, oily and perfectly prepared. The Tonkotsu, a deep fried, breaded, pork tenderloin cutlet, is also very good? cooked perfectly and served with a nice dipping sauce. Dinners come with rice, a nice seaweed-laced, miso soup, a small pickled vegetable salad, and sometimes Japanese potato salad. My only regret is when they are out of the potato salad. I have never had a bad meal here.

Pros: When every one of the "popular/expensive" spots is jammed-- this place will feed you at good value

Cons: Limited seating.
