Sheng-Kee Bakery

I don't like a lot of bakeries since I don't like too many sweets, however this place is great. I am going to get my wedding cake here. They have really great mousse cakes and their wedding cakes are pretty inexpensive

CONS: can't always tell if you're going to like something

Everytime I'm shopping at 99 ranch market I can't help but reward myself with one or two buns for all my efforts going grocery shopping! They aren't usually too sugary and they have quite a selection of a lot of different pastries. Its a good deal too for pastries, its a much as you would expect from a decent chinese pastry store.

This is my favorite place in the city to buy birthday cakes. They have beautifully decorated and great tasting asian style cakes (less sugary frosting!) and never disappoint. My favorite is the red bean/grean tea combo, but any of their chocolate flavors are great too. They also have great cakes and tarts with fresh fruits, as well as the usual bakery items and fresh breads. A bit more expensive than your standard chinese bakery, but well worth it.
