I visited Dr. Boyanowski because I was being advised to have my cocker's ears ablated, and I didn't want this done unless it was necessary. The doctor was completely professional and advised me of alternatives to ablation, which included some new medications not previously tried. She was so experienced, and I felt like she was like a super-competent human specialist with many available remedies for his poor, infected, swollen ears. I followed her course of action, and he is now in really good shape. Thank God there is someone to help us cure our animals! My second cocker has also started to see her with great results.

I had heard nothing but praise for this particular clinic and it's doctors, so made an appointment for my four year old blue Doberman. For the past couple of years she had been plagued with bumps, or pimples along her back and neck, as well as losing most of her coat. I met with Dr. Boyanowski and initially thought there might be some help she could offer. She prescribed shampoo as well as a spray for her dry skin, which I have been using once a week as recommended. She also asked me to have her tested to find out her vwd score, which I did at a cost of $150.00. She also gave me a prescription for an antibiotic to be purchased at my pharmacy. This was for a two week supply, given once a day, fourteen pills. When I went to the pharmacy, I was told the cost would be just over $230.00 for the fourteen pills. I called Dr. Boyanowski to see if there was a more affordable medication we could use, and was told no, this was a special antibiotic, to stick with it, so I shopped around and was able to find it at another pharmacy for $120.00. I followed the directions, and finished up the pills. I was surprised to learn there was to be no follow up exam to see if the pills actually accomplished anything, so what was the point of the expense and time giving the medication? Also, my Dobe was recently diagnosed as being hypothyroid, so decided to order her pills from a mail order pet pharmacy, for 014 cents per pill, a considerable savings from most sources. I called her office and asked for them to call in her prescription on a Tuesday. They were well aware she had enough of her initial prescription for three more days. It took them until Friday morning to call in the prescription , three days later, and she also had the nerve to draw a line through the generic drug we had been using for the first month and tell the pharmacy to switch to another brand, without discussing it with me first. Was she upset with me for not obtaining my thyroid med from her instead of purchasing them much cheaper elsewhere? I left a message to have a call back, and haven't heard anything since then. What a waste of money, for the vwd test, and the antibiotics, what was the point? I still have a dog with bumps and pimples. I don't know if it's just a one time bad experience for me, or what, but I can't honestly say that I would recommend this clinic to anyone in the future. If you do decide to use them I wish you better luck than I had.

My little shih tzu, Bud, had severe skin, ear and environmental allergies when we inherited him. Sadly, they were never tended to by his previous owner. After a couple of visits and some easy testing, Dr Boyanowski diagnosed his allergies, yeast infection and bacterial skin infections. He has been through a few rounds of meds and daily Atopica, but he is happy, healthy and no more bald spots from constant scratching. She's the best!

We have been bringing our Maltese (Kobe) to see Dr. Boyanowski since 2005. Before we met Dr. Boyanowski we almost had to put our little one to sleep. We saw 3 vets prior to Dr. Boyanowski and noone could conclude what was wrong with our dog. Prior to Dr. Boyanowski our dog lived in a cone because we has itching his face so bad he would tear all of the fur off and bleed. He would also bite his paws raw. Previous vets failed and we were distraught at seeing our little one so uncomfortable. Then one day someone recommended we see an allergy doctor for him. Alas, we found Peninsula Animal Dermatology. Our little Maltese (Kobe) has now gained 2 lbs and has never scratched his face raw again. He is a brand new dog and we are so happy to see him enjoy life. He takes a daily medicine and gets a shot weekly, but if we hadn't found Peninsula Animal Dermatology we would have never known our little one was allergic to weeds and grass. The staff here are amazing and so friendly! I highly recommend Peninsula Animal Dermatology.

I have a Collie that has the inherited disease Dermatomyocitis (DM). Dr. Kim Boyanowski and her great, caring staff have been an invaluable help in dealing with this bummer of a disease. They are experienced, very knowledgeable, patient and leave me with the feeling that my beloved dog's health is in the best hands possible.

I never thought I'd take a dog to see a dermatologist, but when our pooch started losing patches of fur and our regular vet was unable to figure out why, we took him to see Dr Kim Boyanowski at Peninsula Animal Dermatology. She immediately knew what the problem was and was able to prescribe treatments to eliminate it. It can take weeks to get an initial appointment, but it is well worth it if your pet is having skin issues.

PROS: Expert in the field
CONS: Can be difficult to get an appointment
