I love the Napa River Inn. It is in downtown Napa, and it an historic site, an old mill converted into an inn with a pastry shop, several restaurants, and so on. It is located right on the river, and I love everything about it. The rooms are all very clean, cozy and nicely decorated. Breakfast is delivered to your door each morning, and it is excellent, with fresh coffee, juice, fruit and pastries. The landscaping is really quaint and pretty, and the staff is exceedingly helpful. I would recommend this inn to anyone visiting the area.

My Bfriend and I stayed here fo rthe second time in 2 years. There was some construction going on with the river walk way. They were very upfront about it and sent us an email advise of the construction and offered us 20% off the room rate we had already agreed to pay. Upon checking in we got a beautiful room on the river, but decided to move over to the Embardcardo bacuse the rooms are SOOOO large it's like a condo. The service was great the bell man (Grorge) was apolite young man with excellent manners.

Melissa at the front desk was very professional, they even sent a bottle of win to our room to welcome us! The location is great near quite of few restaurants that we could walk to and we received coupons for several vinyards. The service is great from room service (free breakfast was first class, as was the turn down service at night.

As a business traveler I am use to Hiltons, Marriotts and the occasional Ritz Carlton, but this place is first class, the rate was only $160.00 per night a good value winthin it's self.

Pros: Location, room size, decor of the rooms, friendly staff, close restaurants

Cons: construction going on till Oct 2007.

I stayed here for two nights and it felt like being in prison....no privacy in the expensive rooms with people walking past my room windows that overlook the dingy river. There is no sense of this being a hotel, no charming grounds, but rather a college dorm feeling, with the buildings separated from each other....it is not the charm that one would expect, nor expect to pay so much for when visiting the wine country. Keep driving to St. Helena!!!
