I have hired Planchon Roofing for three different jobs, and have had excellent experiences with them. They replaced my gutters and touched up the roof when we first bought the house in 2001. In January of 2009 they cleaned out the gutters, and they applied the charge for that service to the roof replacement we had done in July. Their bids have consistently been about 30% below the closest competitor, and they have done the job quickly. They even did the roof replacement the day after I gave them the job, because Planchon didn't want to have to lay anyone off, which brings up another point: Planchon is nice to his workers, unlike many contractors. The roof was done for $3,000 less than the closest bidder had offered, passed inspection (although it took a few appointments), and our attic is totally dry the day after the first torrential rain of the season. I will continue to call on Planchon for my roofing needs.

I strongly advise you not to use Planchon Roofing in the East Bay - a bunch of rude, sloppy thugs who are not to be trusted. Unbelievably rude and messy.

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR

I gave this company a call to come and check a leak that I had in my roof that they had installed. I had to make several phone calls to get someone to come. The woman that answered the phone was not knowledgable and kept saying she'd have someone to call me back. Finally I got one of the owners, I'm guessing he was one of the owners his last name was Planchon. He was nice and took all of the information and said he would come out himself. I was happy until the door bell rang and it was someone else that they sent which had "no" idea why he was there. None of the information had been relayed to him. After explaining the leak, the damage to my furniture etc. to him, he said...oh..I didn't bring the proper equiptment to check that and I can't go on top of the roof. Well..duh..why did he even come. So he made a phone call and then told me asked me if I would be home later that afternoon. I told him yes. He said someone else would be comming that could get the job done and patch the leak and cover with a tarp since it was supose to rain that night. Well no one showed up. So I called again and got the same un-knowledgeable woman on the phone which gave me the same run-around. I was very disgusted and getting a little angry at that point. So the next day, a man came to my home without an appointment and said he was there to do the work. I just couldn't believe this! However being desperite at this point I cancelled every thing else that day so that he could do the work. They were suppose to do a water test to see where the leak was comming from but didn't. When I asked the guy to do one he got mad at me. I asked for his bus. card he really got mad then. Needless to say this was all a very bad experience and I would never use them or recommend them again. Now are you ready..here's the last straw. My insurance company needed proof that someone came out to do the work and when I called them to get something in writing, they had no record of ever being there. Wow..how awful.
Pros: prices are ok, but you get what you pay for
