Tokyo Fish Market in its new building offers more than the usual groceries of a Japanese grocery store. Its offering of fresh seafood, prepared Japanese dishes, bento, dried/canned/package goods, refrigerator/freezer items is extensive. The old building now carries a good selection of gift items, household goods, dishes, etc. There are more parking spaces than before, but it is tight maneuvering vehicles around the corners. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive.

Tokyo Fish has expanded into the section behind the original tiny shop. Incredibly fresh seafood (and fresh tofu, which is awesome!), great selection of Japanese delicacies and nice choices of bento (lunch box) meals and sushi for carry away treats. The staff are friendly and helpful! I especially like to look through the dishes and bowls for inexpensive serving pieces that are unusual but practical.

Tokyo Fish Market is a great place to go for fresh sushi grade fish. They usually have several different types available for sale, and all of the extras that you would need to make your own sushi (or entire Japanese meal, for that matter). The workers are really nice and helpful, and they have their own parking which makes it easy to get to.

His sushi, sashimi, etc. are wonderful. I bought some bluefin tuna the other day for sashimi and it melted like butter in our mouths. You can't beat the price. We paid less that $10 for restaurant quality sashimi. Can't find that in a restaurant. The owner is an extremely nice guy. He always find time to chat and help me load my groceries into my car. He told me that they are expanding into a new location behind their current store. It's three times the size and they will be preparing their own rolls. I can't wait.

PROS: Neighborhood feel and world class fish
CONS: crowded store

The Tokyo Fish Market on San Pablo Avenue has a lot of great seafood and sushi fixins. Its basically a Japanese food market that carries fresh produce, but they specialize in seafood, and it shows. The have a terrific selection of fresh and frozen fish. You can get whole fish and filets, and even unagi. They also carry a decent amount of other Asian products.
