Maggiano's has become one of our favorites. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is always fresh and delicious. And the restaurant is charming and romantic.

What's not to like about that?

I love Maggiano's! Reading some of the comments that state "waitress bad-mouthed us to another couple" and how long others had to wait...why don't you complain to the manager and then leave? Instead, some of you choose to stay and be

My family and I go here pretty often, and it's consistently delicious. I especially love the beef medallions--some of the best steak you'll ever try! Spinach salad is also amazing, and the spinach and chicken manicotti is oh so good.

The only downside is that it can get kinda busy, so try to make reservations in advance. Otherwise, you're in for a wait.

Went to Maggiano's this last Friday night and it was terrible. Our reservation was at 6:30 and they just didn't honor it. We were on time, yet we had to stand in the front of the restaurant, being jostled around with dozens of other people who also had nowhere to stand since there IS NOWHERE to wait. We then watched as over a dozen parties of 3-4 who had come in after us were seated before us, and we kept being told we would "be seated shortly". So 45 minutes late, we finally got a table and then waited 10 minutes for a waitress, then 10 more minutes until she came back with drinks, then 25 minutes for appetizers, and 20 more for the entrees, and the food is mediocre at best. We won't be back; don??t waste your money or time.

Pros: None

Cons: No reservations, service terrible, food mediocre

The food was good but the service was terrible. After we complained to the manager that the busboy had cleaned our table (open seating, cocktail table) with the previous customer's dirty cloth napkin, she bad-mouthed us to the customers sitting next to us. It was a least 20 minutes before she took our drink order and then she was sickening sweet, obvious butt-kissing. She was quicker to take our food order and the food came in a timely manner. But she didn't offer drink refills until we were done with our meal. We are generally generous tippers (20% +) but seriously hate poor service. We tipped but she got what she deserved. The ladies sitting at the table before us had warned us of how slow and rude she was. We should have listened. Oh...and the table next to ours cleared while we were eating and again the busboy used a customer's dirty napkin to clean the table.

Cons: poor service; lack of appropriate cleaning; crowded

The food is horrible knockoffs from other americanized restaurants, not one orignal dish. Can I atleast get a canoli thats not bite sized. The restaurant layout is even worse, there's is no defined entrance and no flow. It's like building a restaurant inside a maze.

Maggiano's was a dissapointment. The atmosphere & locaton are nice. But...I ordered pinot grigio to start with, and was given a pinot nior. That's the server's bad, I suppose. Or the bar-back? I wanted the salad with prosciutto, and was given lettuce with bacon-bits. The pasta side-dish was forgettable, the filet mignon was okay. Okay? Filet mignon should always be outstanding. Maybe it was just the wine that set the tone for the evening, but Maggiano's is not a restaurant I would recommend. I was told by a friend to try Maggiano's: "It's AMAZING. You need to call me or text as soon as you're done." Coming from Erin, it had to be good. We're Taurus', we love food. Plus, it's in the same area as South Coast Plaza, so I figured Maggiano's food would be as good as South Coast Plaza's boutiques. Oh well.

After reading some of the reviews here I was a bit hesitant to try this restaurant but I am happy to say that the wait staff, service and food were more than I expected. Yes, the price is a little on the high side but for this location (South Coast Center and Orange County Performing Arts Center) this prices are not bad at all. There were 4 in our party and 2 people took for home for leftovers. We had reservations and had to wait less than 5 minutes for our table to be set up and for us to be seated. Highly Recommended.

My husband and I were visiting the area and had heard of how great this restaurant was supposed to be. We decided to give it a try and were extremely disappointed. Though the place was crowded, the food was the worst we have ever had. It was so bad we could not finish it-which is something we have never before done in our 40 years of dining out together. We were not expecting great Italian food, knowing this was a chain, but did expect it to be on the same level as perhaps an Olive Garden. The only good thing about it was the attentive busboy who said he was from Guatemala.

Hearty Italian dishes and great staffs. Love their fried calamari and baked ziti and sausage. Maggaino's in Costa Mesa is not as crowded as the one in The Grove which is nice. Seated on time w/ reservation on a busy weekend. Friendly staff except one of the hostess at front. No smiles from her but the smiles from the other hostess made up for that.

My husband and always get the same few things when we come to Maggiano's. Frankly, Maggiano's is a chain Italian restaurant, and its patrons should not be expecting the truly authentic Italian fare. For that, there is always Il Fornaio. But we still love the ambience, the maritnis, and the consistently great service for less fancy, but still hearty & comforting Italian fare. It is a family style restaurant, and it certainly makes us feel like we are a part of that family when we go with their large portions and good service. We always order the chicken rigatoni "D", the lasagna, or chicken parmigiana, with the occasional saltimbocca for my husband. For lunch, try their delicious, albeit a bit bland (ask for marinara sauce on the side) vegetable sandwich, to which you can also add chicken. The fried zuchini in this sandwich makes it light and crispy, and a side of minestrone soup makes this a fulfilling and energizing power lunch before heading back to the office. The salads are fresh and delicious, but sometimes the dressing can be a bit salty and overpowering, as I tend to steer clear of too much bleu cheese in my salads. But, my husband loves bleu cheese in his salads, so to each his own. All in all, a great restaurant for a consisently good meal of hearty Itlaian comfort food- although admittedly, our review of Maggiano's menu is quite limited to the few items listed above. All in all, my husband and I always have a special place in our hearts for a "Maggiano's night." We especially like the fact that they now accept reservations for small parties of two.

Not sure if anyone that has reviewed this as "great Italian food" as ever had truly good Italian food. I'd rather go to Olive Garden than step foot in this place again. We had Chicken Alfredo, which was severely lacking in ANYTHING that resembled alfredo sauce, some mushroom ravioli that tasted more like gravy than sauce. Thinking perhaps we caught them on an odd night, we tried them again with the same results. The gnocchi was do-able...the tiramisu doesn't have a darn bit of liquor in it and tastes like it had been sitting in a freezer all night...garlic bread was stale and tasteless. The take-out guy was obviously in a hurry to get home (we walked in just as the takeout kiosk was closing), was cussing and very short with us. He then told us to go to the bar to pick up our food...then acted very suprised when we were sitting at the bar waiting for it..."You know you're food is sitting over there, right?" Why, no...since you told us to go to the bar...NEVER returning. But be sure to make a stop in the Corner Bakery, that place is great!!

This restaurant is really popular but I think it's about average. I've gone there 3 time and I keep on having the same problem. It's too noisy. I can never hear my waiter/waitress or anyone at my table. I find myself yelling so they can hear me. The food is good but not spectacular and a little on the pricey side. Two people can eat there for around $40.

PROS: Decent Italian food
CONS: NOISY..........wait time........What if you don't want to eat family style?

I've been to many Italian restaurants and I have to admit this one is quite nice. I had the shell pasta with shrimps. I really couldn't finish it since it was such a nice portion but it was really amazing. I loved the flavor and i loved the atmosphere. Great place to eat! Highly recommended.

My boyfriend and I shared 2 entrees- Shells with Roasted Vegetables, which was terrible, and Spaghetti Marinara, which was ok, but not great. The service was bad. The waiter never refilled my soda and was hard to find. When he brought the bill, he had put the wrong wine on it. My boyfriend ordered house red wine, and the bill listed a more expensive white wine. When we questioned the bill, the server raised his voice saying, Its not my fault you ordered an expensive wine and now dont want to pay for it. Finally he agreed to change the bill after we showed him the little bit of red wine left in the bottom of the glass. When he came back with the revised bill, he just tossed it onto the table and said, "Why bother to be polite. Im sure youll leave a lousy tip anyway.

Based on my single experience at this restaurant, it is more like a yuppie-ized _caricature_ of a real italian eatery.

The best I can say for the food is that it is definitely a bit better than the average greasy spoon pizza kitchen. But most of what I ate seemed to carry the suspicious air of the sort of food you get in a chain-restaurant, as if it were pre-prepared, prepackaged, and assembled by people who aren't professional chefs.

Which would be fine, but the prices in this place belong to a restaurant where your food didn't come out of a box.

The night I ate there, with friends, was supposed to be a very special dinner. I was ordered to be on my best behavior and not pick at every little thing, and I was _very_ good, but it was hard.

Our appetizer took forever to arrive. When it came, it was missing part of it. Our waiter vanished and we ended up flagging down another one. In all, it was twenty minutes before we saw our waiter again, and then he was rude and inept.

I believe it took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did, two people's orders were completely wrong. At this point, we were starving, annoyed, and afraid that if we sent the food back that we'd get old and die before new food arrived. After a vote, we decided to eat rather than walk out on the spot. It was a close thing.

One person's meal was salted so heavily that it was inedible.

I ordered lasagna, which was, at best, mediocre. I've gotten as good out of a box. Portions were not exactly tiny, but were more like what I'd expect of a lunch than a dinner.

If this restaurant did not have such appalling service, and if our order was right, and if the food cost about half of what it costs, it might be worth a try.

But at those prices, for what is, essentially, mediocre italian food at best, combined with bad service and long waits - I can't recommend this - unless you have a family member or co-worker who you want to show a terrible evening.

PROS: Adequate martini
CONS: High prices, mediocre food, terrible service, wrong orders, long wait

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for our six month anniversary, and it was a perfect place to eat for lunch. We ordered one drink, appetizer, entree and dessert, and each item was HUGE. The food was extremely fresh and delicious, and the price wasn't too bad for the large amounts of food that we received. The service was excellent and really quick, maybe because we had a young waiter. Recommended to anyone looking for good quality Italian food at affordable prices.

Big portion...
I mean big portion!!!
Surprisely, the food is very good!!
Therefore, if you divide the amount by the number of people, it's quite cheap.
Well, it a good value Italian restaurant that doesn't feel like Hometown buffet.

my favorite restaurant! the portions are gigumbo so always order the large portion cause it's a better deal and you will definately love eating the leftovers at home. my fav dish is the rigtoni D chicken plate. sooooooooooo good. the free bread is really good too. only thing is if you go during dinnertime on the weekends it's really crowded and not even a reservation will get you seated quickly. be prepared to wait around a bit.

I love this restaurant because of the atmosphere, the location, and most importantly the food. You get your monies worth at this restaurant. You can choose to do either family style (if you have a larger party) or you can share a couple of things if you're on a date. Sometimes the wait can seem a bit long...but once you're inside - it will be worth the wait!

I love this restaurant. I know it's a chain and I usually prefer the mom and pop or unique places but the food is really tasty and the service is great. They have huge portions so that you can share with whoever you're dining with. Get a mix of poultry and pasta for the best experience and try and save some room for their desserts. You will leave with an enlarged belly but a smile on your face. I guarantee that you'll like the food. Great warm bread too and a huge wine list or order something from their full service bar.

You will leave with an enlarged belly but a smile on your face. I guarantee that you'll like the food. Great warm bread too and a huge wine list or order something from their full service bar.

I would definitely recommend this family style Italian restaurant. I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's day and we both really enjoyed it. The portions are large enough for two people, so everyone can share and take home doggies bags and they have great wine and dessert selections. I would recommend trying the Tira Misu, which was very good.

I love this elegant yet family style restaurant. They have a wonderful dining area with lots of seating and big cozy booths. They have a family style menu so everyone at your table can try a little bit of all the dishes served. They bring you warm fresh bread with olive oil and vinegar. They have a huge wine selection and equally tempting dessert menu. The best part is there is usually enough food left over to bring home. They also have a little deli in the front of the restaurant so you can pickit up to go. Great place. YUM YUM YUM

Maggiano's, situated in the parking lot of South Coast Plaza, is a great place to go with friends, family or a date. The food is pretty good and they serve enormous portions, so everyone can split entree's and it ends up being quite affordable, plus everyone can take home leftovers- it's set in a 1940's theme, and they play Frank Sinatra in the dining room and patio's, it's definitely worth checking out.

This is truley one of my favorite restaurants. It has a huge dining area so you can fit a large crowd at a table or enjoy an intimate meal. The menu selection is superb and the family style set up is great so you can try a little bit of everything. For dessert, the cheesecake and tiramisu are especially tasty and the slices are big enough for two people. I love this restaurant.

Pros: Call for Reservations, Attentive Service

After the shopping in South Coast Plaza, or watching a show at the Performing Arts Center, make sure you have reservations for dinner here. For the wait is long in the evening weekends, the food will have you longing for days to come.
