Wow -- I had been to the Pear Street Bistro about ten years ago, when it first opened, and really liked the place. Unfortunately, I lived on the East Coast at the time so I didn't get a chance to try it again until moving back home.

Better than I had remembered! The service was nearly flawless, and the cocktails were phenomenal and [YAY! . . .] rather strong!

We ordered steak quesadillas and a pear/chopped walnut salad for starters, which were awesome and tangy, respectively. For entrees my date [hubba hubba] ordered the Southern fried chicken, which was better than my aunt Jane's and she's from Texas, even. . . I ordered some Peruvian dish I had never heard of before: Lomo Saltado. The menu describes it as "top sirloin strips stir-fried with onions and tomatoes in a special Peruvian sauce on top of steamed white rice or quinoa for a healthier option."

I don't care what quinoa is, since I got the dish with rice. I must say it was freakin' yummmmy. . .

So, I'll be back if I ever get another date. I'm glad I moved to this part of the East Bay, too. There's more out here than most people imagine. Pinole is such a short drive from Martinez -like 15 minutes, tops! So I'll be popping in on my way home from the BART station from time to time. . .

The bar is very cliquey, with insuders getting good service. The food is mediocre and overpriced. Altogether, this is a good place to watch the downfall of california cuisine.

This is a good restaurent its french / asian inspired cuisine. It can be noisy most of the time so it isnt really a good place to be able to sit and have a conversation but if you enjoy the energy of a bustling place this is for you.

Pear Street is bright, clean and modern. Patrons can see into the kitchen at what the chefs are doing.

The service is friendly and prompt, and the owner is usually around too. The hostesses are chic, stylish and thin, adding to the sophistication of the place.

Healthy options are on the menu, such as organic field greens. Not so healthy but great fun, is a giant metal cup full of hot french fries, served with mayonaise.

If wine is purchased next door at Swish wine room, there's no corkagefee at Pear Street. A sticker is placed on the bottle.

The food is nicely presented, varied and most palatable, but the desserts are nothing to jump up and down about. Small, bland and expensive.

It's a little pricey, but worth it. Nice for Sunday brunch with Mimosa.
