I am currently a member at this branch and I have twice now been SEXUALLY harassed while working out here. I have had the same man twice now (while I was working out) approach me and make COMPLETELY inappropriate remarks to me. He even admitted to watching me during my entire work out. You are probably wondering if I reported both incidents- you are damn right I did and the WESTSIDE YMCA FAILED to do anything about either incident. They first told me that they would not allow this perpetrator back into the facility but last night, lo and behold I leaving the YMCA and the SAME disgusting pervert approached me and made disgusting remarks AGAIN. I am absolutely furious that the YMCA, which is supposed to be a family facility, not only lied to me about him not being able to return BUT I now submitted a second compliant and have (24 hours later) received no response from the staff. Parents and females alike should be extremely concerned that this branch allows predators on their grounds. I am not one to be overly emotional but these incidents have completely shaken me emotionally. I joined YELP only to report this incident to people who are members and are thinking of joining this horrible facility. Needless to say, I have terminated my membership and requested a FULL refund. Please consider NOT joining this YMCA. If I could give NO stars, I would.

This YMCA has all-new weight equipment that is quite comfortable and has been well-cared-for so far. They offer many, many classes, including belly dancing and kickboxing (my favorites). Kickboxing was challenging, but most of the other classes I tried were too easy for a young, fit person. You can get a 2 week or 10 visit (whichever comes first) guest pass to try their facilities, which I found quite generous.
You will definitely not feel too old, too young, or too casual here--the clientele and staff are very down-to-earth.
The pool is quite nice, though if you have ever been a competitive swimmer, you will be frustrated with the likely slowness of whomever you end up sharing your lane with.
I liked the place a lot overall. I did not join though, because of the prices. For an individual, there is a $150 initiation fee, and the monthly fee is $49, which is pretty expensive, in my opinion. If you make under $30,000 a year, they do have a sliding payment scale, but it still won't be cheap. The discounted family rates are a deal, though. Ask desk staff about discount coupons--you may be able to get one month free.

The Westside YMCA is a perfect place to workout, or to take your kids for sports activities and after school events. Great staff and great equipment make this place a regular in your daily schedule. The exercise facilities are second to none with their cross training room equipped with the newest nautilus machines and strength training equipment.
