Alta-View Animal Hospital

I had a 3pm appointment for my 6 week old puppy. I stood at the front counter for a good 8-9 minutes waiting for someone to come up to the front counter to assist me. 4 different employees walked by me and made eye contact with me so I know for a fact that they saw me standing there and not a single one even acknowledged my presence! It would have been nice to have had someone say something like "someone will be right with you" or "I will be with you in just a moment". But no, they just looked at me and then looked away and kept walking. It was me that had to say loudly "Excuse me, I have a 3 O'clock appointment, could you please come give me the paperwork that I need to get started on"

Once i was finally given the paperwork to fill out, I had to wait another 45 minutes before I was taken into a room. 25 minutes into me waiting for the room, I asked the girl at the front counter how much longer it might be. She is horribly vague and refuses to give any form of a definitive answer. She leaves you feeling like you are not important enough and that you can just wait.

Once I was called into the room, the DMB came in within 5 minutes which was nice, but when he went to get my puppy her first shot, it took him 20 minutes to return! I used to work at a vets office...IT DOESNT TAKE THAT LONG TO GET AN INJECTION TOGETHER FOR A 1.25 lb. DOG!!!

Since this is my first puppy, I had some very basic questions which the DMV was not interested in answering any of! My fianc and I were left with the feeling that our puppy was not important nor were our questions.

Sadly, the room that I was put in with my puppy was filthy! How was I supposed to want to put my puppy that has not had any shots yet on a filthy table?! And to make matters worse, ever since she left Alta View, within 12 hours, she has developed some sort of sneeze that is progressively gotten works. I know she did not get it room my home because she is kept indoors away from ALL other animals!

The prices are good in terms of injections, but the front office and veterinary staff lacks severely in the customer service department and leaves much to be desired.

This place is horrible!

Dr. Paul and all of his staff are wonderful. We've taken all our pets there for over 8yrs. He has cared for our 3 cats and 1 dog. Our dog is quite particular (being that he's a poodle) but he absolutely loves Dr. Paul and his staff. Dr. Paul's voice is calming and he delivers optimal care to his furry patients. He's prices are reasonable. He does not believe in over-medicating, or ordering needless tests. He truly goes out of the way to provide great care and customer service. I have never found a DMV as kind and caring. I wholeheartedly and without reservations recommend Dr. Paul and Alta Vista Amimal Clinic.

This is the BEST vet I've ever been to! Dr. Paul was great, actually the entire staff was fantastic! I called and was able to make an appointment for my puppy to get his shots the very next week. We went and the front desk assistant was really nice and didn't look at me weird when I couldn't remember the flea and tick meds he was on... (yeah I know bad momma). The check in was really fast and to get to a room took no time at all... for all you pet parents with overly active pets you know why this is important. My puppy must have loved the place from the start because he wasn't barking and jumping and going wild like he normally does in a vet's office. (Sometimes it's so bad I stand outside until a room is ready.) We went to the room and the vet tech asked me some questions and held an actual conversation with me. She was friendly and gave me some tips that are working for her and her new puppy... Anyhoo I spent about 5 minutes with her and then less than 3 minutes later the vet came in. Can you imagine going to the vet's office and seeing the doc before reading through the table of contents of a magazine??? I know it's unheard of!! Then Dr. Paul and I had the best most thoughtful conversation regarding my puppy baby. He asked great questions, gave me somethings to think about and in an extremely nice why let me know my puppy was a little bit overweight. Even when Max jumped, he was never rude about his behavior and gave me some options on obedience classes. He never pushed any unnecessary treatments on me and their prices where better than any vet prices I've ever paid! For the exam, and 2 shots it was less than $80. If you live near here, heck even if you don't; bring your dog or cat to see Dr. Paul... just don't take up all of the appointments

We took our pet dog Maya in for limping to Alta View Animal Hospital. The vet diagnosed the problem as a torn ligament in the knee. The sugery was performed by the surgeon at the hospital. The knee healed perfect. The follow up care was superb. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who wants great patient care and personal attention. They also have reasonable prices.

Our family has been taking our pets to Alta View Animal Hospital for over 9 years. We have had a good experience. The service is fast and the prices are reasonable. They take emergency appointments also. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I left Adobe Animal Hospital due to their excessive charges, but little did I know that I was going from the frying pan into the fire. My cat needed a tooth extracted, and both the vet and the techs tried to sell me all kinds of extra lab work and x-rays which I refused. When I went to pick up my cat the next day, the bill had jumped by $71. Their explanation was that they had made a mistake in the addition and that it was their "bad" and they refused to release my cat until I paid the extra $71. They also refused to let me talk to the vet. I have no idea if the vet is involved in these shady dealings, but I strongly suggest that you take your business elsewhere. I will never return to this clinic.

It has cost me over $1000 in vet bills from Adobe to try and get rid of the virous my cat picked up there when he went in for neutering. Not only did the vet deny that he caught the virus there, but refused to even give me antiboitics to try and deal with it without a charge. I landed up at Adobe where my cat almost died and was hospitalized for two days. HE DOES NOT KEEP A CLEAN HOSPITAL. HE PUTS SURGICAL ANIMALS IN WITH SICK ANIMALS AND DOES NOT CLEAN CAGES WHERE HE HAS HOUSED SICK ANIMALS. The ONLY way he got this virus was from his hospital, confirmed by other vets.

We've been taking our dogs to Paul Ghumman for the last 8 years. His diagnosis are spot on--even when the disease is rare. This was the case for one of our dogs.
He genuinely cares about his furry patients. The prices are reasonable and he never tries to push unnecessary treatments. If the treatment is outside of the scope of his expertise, he quickly recommends specialists. The staff are friendly and the service prompt.

We have taken our many pets to Alta View Animal Hospital for 4 years. Dr. Paul Ghumman and staff have always provided great care for our pets. When our dog Sasha had a serious kidney ailment, the doctor explained all the details and options for treatment available.Thanks to their care Sasha is healthy again. I would recommend the hospital to anyone who seeks compassionate, personal care for their pet.

I have tremendous admiration for how this vet can run this busy practice single handed. I have been going to him for 15 years, and believe I have received a lot of good advice. He has always been willing to see my pets even on a Sunday which required a special trip. He is also always willing to discuss a pet's condition over the phone. Yes, you may have to wait beyond the appointment time, and yes, you may only get to see the vet for five minutes, but you will not find someone of his ability and compassionate easily elsewhere.

I have taken my cat to the vet here several times, and have always thought the service was fine/normal and rates were normal. I recently adopted a ferrel cat, however. I wanted an idea of how much I was going to have to pay, so I called to describe the cat and his problems and actually got to talk to the vet. The price i was quoted was reasonable...I actually shopped around even though I had been here before. When I brought my ferrel kitty in, he needed a lot more work than expected. I could tell, however that all the work was needed. Nothing unnecessary was done. The vet was VERY caring, taking extra steps to make sure my cat was WELL taken care of. I've been to vets all my life, so I could tell he was going out of his way. I really appreciated his EXCELLENT service.

It has always been easy to set up appointments or walk in. We have taken our pets here for the past 10 years and have always trusted the recommendations of the main vet. They have helped us in putting down our old dogs with grace and dignity.

I rather not be specific on the details. Just know this. They did not take good care of my Dog, and they ended up giving him some sort of virus. I ended up taking him to Adobe. They are 100% better in taking care of my dog. I don't know how alta view is still in business. The staff was also not vey friendly.

A week ago we sent our housekeeper to this hospital with two cats for a $100-200 exam. They talked her into services totalling $500 without our permission. The cats are healthy! They even called home and talked my father-in-law into providing his debit card number. Avoid this place, you might end up with a huge bill for stuff you never wanted.

CONS: not only expensive, but unethical

I brought my dog a couple times to Alta View for a check up, an X-ray, a pet bath and some shots. While the service is prompt and the wait is never long, and the vet and vet techicians are very friendly and helpful, I must say that prices are above average. They don't have a low cost shot clinic that some other veterinary hospitals have on Saturdays.
