I love this restuarant. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. It is casual and so you can relax and not have to dress up. We have been to World Famous about 10 times. Depending on when you go it may be more loud for example on a day when they have the kids graduating. We always go on the weekend so I don't know what the other days are like. The wine selection is good, the view is excellent. The only problem is the seats are not comfortable outside. There is valet parking so if you can't find a spot just stop to the right near the door and they park your car for about $3.00. That is not bad for beach parking. I have been to Charthouse restuarant and yes it is more dressy and the seating is more comfortable but the food isn't really much better if you order one of the main fish dishes. We have also gone for sunday brunch which was good as well. Yes you will have trouble parking but if you don't mind walking across the street there is parking there. Again comparing to Charthouse, the food doesn't taste like a chain and I got raw fish (that wasn't supposed to be) at Charthouse and paid twice the price, also you can't park at all without valet. I think some of the reviewers here aren't used to the beach parking as yes there is limited room. You have to plan a little extra time for that. World famous has become my favorite restuarant. However, if you want to get dressed up for a special occasion go to another restuarant.

NOT GOOD! Our salads were warm, but the dinners were cold. When we sent them back the manager came back less than 5 minutes later with reheated food. It was terrible! Steak and fish were cold, shrimp was rubbery and rice was mushy. We had heard good things about this place and were extremely disappointed! I will note that the waitress was good and so was the view, but those were the only redeeming qualities about this place. Will NOT recommend or return, so disappointed!

This place is the pits. If I could give zero stars, I would. Although I really don't want to relive my evening at World Famous, I'll do it so you can be spared & informed.

Parking: Nightmare. Be prepared to drive round and round for a spot.

First Impression: We walked in and came face to face with two young hostesses who apparently should never ever have a job in customer service. They both kind of stared at us for a second, we said hello, they said nothing. Wow. Okay.

We got "in line" to wait for a table, which came about 25 minutes later because there was 8 of us in our party. The place was hoppin' for sure. Lot's of young college-age kids eating tacos and drinking, over-looking the ocean. So, the atmosphere had sort of a fun beachy vibe.

Service: Our waitress, who needed someone to give her back the rest of her skirt, was absolutely miserable. I've literally never seen the likes of it. No idea what her name was... She was blond, ponytail, looked like someone just killed her puppy... Oh wait, that was pretty much every waitress in there... Anyhow, no smiles, no greetings, NOTHING. Unbelievable.

Food: We placed our order. Our table ordered lot's of shrimp tacos, a couple drinks, etc... (They have $1.25 shrimp tacos on Tuesday nights, so that's why it's packed.) The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered the chicken tacos, which were gross. The tortillas tasted like thick raw dough and well, it just wasn't tasty at all. The general consensus on the shrimp tacos was that they were very tasty though.

When the food came out, I noticed that they gave my husband an extra shrimp taco, so, wanting to be honest, I told the waitress. She said, "Oh. Well I'll take it back." And then she walks off. Hmmmmmm.... You'll "take it back?" Okay, whatever. My husband goes for his first bite and before he makes contact with the taco, she immediately comes over and holds a small plate in front of him to put one of the shrimp tacos on her plate. (Are you serious??????) I go, "Ummm, can he just leave the one taco on the plate and give it to you after he's done? We promise, he won't eat it." (By the way, I was very nice to her this whole time, smiling and being very friendly...) She smirked and said with more attitude than ever, "Uh, no." Wow. Whatever happened to, "Oh, gosh, no problem, keep the extra taco on us. It was our fault anyways! Enjoy it!!" Yeah, not here.

Okay, we're getting ready to wrap it up, take our last bites, etc... One of our friends asks if he can order three shrimp tacos to bring home to his wife (she was sick and couldn't join us). The waitress said with a snarl, "No, they're for dine in only." She didn't apologize or budge. He asked if he could order them, then just get a 'to-go' box. Nope. No smiles, no apology, no "I'm sorry, I don't make the rules" with a little laugh... Nothing. Just a flat out 'no' in the most rude way I've even seen. We asked for the manager.

Manager: THIS IS THE ICING ON THE CAKE. IF YOU ONLY READ ONE PART OF THIS REVIEW READ THIS: So, the manager comes over and says, "Okay. A couple things..." (Really? That's how you address us? Okay, fine.)

She continues: "The shrimp taco special is for dine-in only, so you can't take any to go." Alright, fine... Rules are rules.

She continues: "And in order to get the $1.25 shrimp taco special, everyone needs to order, like, at least one drink."

(Okay, please note that our plates are GONE at this point. We are DONE eating. We're reaching for our wallets, it's very late and we're ready to GO HOME... And she tells us NOW that we all need to start drinking???? HUH????)

I spoke up and said, 'Wellllll, our waitress never told us that."

Manager: "I know, so maybe if just, like, a couple of you guys can order a drink..."

Me: "Um, we're DONE eating. We're getting ready to pay our bill. We're not gonna order drinks."

She fumbled a bit and I spoke up again and just said, 'Well, at least we know for next time." (Yeah right, like there will ever be a next time.)

I was done having a discussion with this girl. I knew it and she knew it. And I swear if anyone at my table gave in and ordered a drink, I woulda killed them on the spot.

Our bill was brought over and we promptly paid it.

As we walk out, the "manager" is partying at a table (eating and drinking) with her girlfriends. Really? Wow.

Are there any owners reading this right now? You need to do some SERIOUS FIRING and some SERIOUS HIRING. There are WAY too many other great little taco shops in San Diego/PB to choose from.

Anyhow, this place is an absolute joke. It's basically run by pre-schoolers, who hire their pre-school idiot friends to wait on tables. BOTTOM LINE: I will NEVER go back here, even if I'm starving and it's the last place on earth. They're 'world famous' all right. World Famous for their suckiness. They can take their shrimp tacos and stuff it.

I have only been here once, for breakfast. It was really good. It is right on the boardwalk, so the view is great, and the people watching is always fun.

This place is fantastic! I've been coming here for over 10 yrs. Monday nights half price appetizers are a great deal. Can't beat the location or the ambiance.

This place is great for a date, great views and a good menu not to mention the staff is really nice and attentive but not in an overbearing way. The problem with most date places however is that the prices are high, but that's to be expected. Parking can be an issue being so close to the beach but the proximity can be a real plus for after dinner walks.

They have great happy hour specials, but if you are in the mood to spend just a little more, I would try to get a seat by the patio area, overlooking the ocean. Get some of the appetizers, my favorites are the lobster bisque and the crusted brie. A couple of cocktails to relax by the beach front scenery. Sometimes the service is not the greatest, but I try not to let that bother me, after all I am having a drink by the beach. Kinda of thing that some of us are eager to! Then after the lovely sunset, you can enjoy a walk along the boardwalk all the way to the pier! We all need to enjoy life a little more...

This resturant has become such a disappointment. On our last and final visit to this resturant - on a very nonbusy afternoon - we were made to feel as though we were imposing. Both of the girls "hostessing" were rude and have no idea how to greet a customer properly. I was worried that one of them was going to loose her shirt and expose herself - it's ridiculous that her manager let her greet customers the way she looked. In fact, is anyone managing this place at all? When we finally got to a table at least 3 waitresses went by over 15 minutes and found a way to avoid eye contact with us. Finally, a waitress found a way to take our order after making sure we knew she wasn't "really" our waitress. The food was just okay. Thank goodness for the view because that is the only thing that saves this place. Why don't you people clean up this place? It's dirty, dingy and old. Sad.

I made reservations well in advance for the 4th of July when I arrived with my party there wasn't a reservation on file. Thankfully (I thought) we were able to be seated in the dining room rather than the patio as requested.

The wait staff was unprofessional, spending the majority of their time with their buddies at the bar. It took 1 1/2 hours just to get the entree(s), only to return half of it because it was either cold or wasn't prepared as directed. However I didn't see one glass go empty if the patron was around the age of 21 and half looped.

The food was ok when we finally did get it however it wasn't ok enough to spend so much time waiting for it.

The was entertainment though. Three of the waitresses had a loud verbal argument as to whose drinks were up next at the bar. Entertaining but digustingly innapropriate for a white linen restaurant.

I have been a patron of World Famous for over 15 years and previously would recommend it to my friends and family from out of town/state. I don't know what happened to the way this place is managed but this was horrible. The bar patrons spilled over into the dining area and were loud and obnoxious and the restaraunt staff was oblivious as to what was transpiring in their own workplace.

I will never recommend World Famous again as a place to go while in San Diego. It now ranks right up their with the other hole-in-the-wall beach bars along Pacific Beach. The white linen needs to be replaced with brown paper so that the drunks can scribble their names on it.

This place is great, a San Diego beachfront original with great food. I hadn't been here in years and was meeting a friend at the beach for breakfast so I suggested World Famous as it is easy for everyone to find and a fun spot. So we meet up and all had great meals, service was great and the view and ambience speaks for itself. I had the french toast which is arguably the best I have ever had, I also tried my friends eggs bennedict which was super good. Good to know that World Famous is still doing it right and will of course be back again soon.

I went to World Famous with my boyfriend one night and we both really enjoyed going there. We bot got the Burgers and fries and it was really good! The waitress we had was very friendly and was great about getting us refills on our drinks and asking if we needed anything. The burgers were a very reasonable price too. The view is gorgeous if you sit outside on the patio because it is right on the water and if you are there at the time where the sunsets its even prettier! Great place to eat with great food.

Happy hour M-F 4:30pm until closing is a seafood treat. Each evening different special ranging from any item on the bar menu for half price to lobster tacos for $1 each. Fabulous! Full bar and knowledgable wine list. Ocean front.

World Famous, right on the shore of Pacific Beach, never fails to have a long line of hungry folks waiting their turn to eat. Original benedicts, including the South Beach Benedict, which is my personal favorite, and the best red potatoes a breakfast plate could hope for. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Once you go 'Famous', you'll crave it forever.

PROS: beautiful ocean front views
CONS: so many people love it so much, you're sure to find a bit of a wait.
