every book imaginable

by K. w. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,134

cody's bookstore is a great place to shop for books. i shop there for vintage comic books and blank books...and, there's knowledgeable staffers there, and also they don't bother you or stop you from actually perusing a book before you buy it. i mean, i read nearly an entire chapter of a book for a school book report, once, without someone telling to buy first.

Great bookstore

by Vanessa K. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 8,600

Cody's Bookstore is one of the landmarks you point out to people because everyone knows where it is. They have a great selection of topics, and a nice relaxing atmosphere to the store. The staff is great, they are very helpful and knowledgable about where specific topics and items are.

They have good selection in books. A lot of people go here too. It gives an old fashion book store feeling. Seems like its been there for a while now. Overall good bookstore.

Cody's is the best!

by David W.

Right off the corner of Haste and Telegraph, and amist the local street venders and urchins, there is a jewel. I'm talking about Cody's books. This place rocks. I love the upstairs section where they get authors for readings and book signings. Their magazine and graphic art sections also rock.

Wide selection of books

by Linda L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,205

This place is a pretty old bookstore but today people still come by and check it out. They have wide selection of books and magazines. Its two stories so be sure to check both of them out. The workers there are nice and friendly. The bathroom are dirty. Inside they have chalk boards and people write on them saying i love whoever. Well i can only say that the girl's bathroom is like that. I don't know about the guys. Its a nice place overall just the bathrooms are kinda weird.

Unique and Impressive bookstore (www.codysbooks.com)

by Tornado W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,368

There are 2 Cody's Bookstores. I prefer the one on Telegraph, just because it near UC Berkeley. Go Bears!

The magazine selection here is very extensive. Far more specialized publications than Borders or Barnes & Noble. You have to see it to know what I'm talking about.

Cody's does special orders of any book in print - you are impressed, aren't you. Cody's is a landmark establishment in Berkeley and continues to attract many people from all around the world.

PROS: If it's in print, they can get it for you.

Cody's Books is one of the oldest bookstores in the city of Berkeley, This bookstore not only sells best-selling titles, but it also specializes in hard-to-find titles. In addition, you can bring in any of your old books to trade in for a store credit or cash. Because of this trade-in service, this bookstore is a favorite among students from UC Berkeley. I once traded sevearl English novels that I bought for a class, and I got a decent amount of refund back. Cody's also have a wide selection of magazines in the east wing of their store. You can spend a day in this bookstore just browsing at books titles or reading magazines. Be sure to check out their selections on the second floor for unique titles and hard-to-find authors.
