Consider going to Alhambra instead for service- dept. is unprofessional! Made my husband waste his time for a recall paint job. Still waiting for their device manager to return our call :/ \r

I visited Honda Pasadena for regular service and with a complaint about SRS light staying on my 2001 civic EX. The servicing part was fine, but I am extremely dissatisfied with the rest of my experience on the following counts:

a) for the SRS light, I was told that the OPDS sensor needed to be replaced under warranty. Since they did not have the part in stock, the part was placed on order and I expected a call from Honda in a week. I even called back next week to check if the part was available, but it hadn't yet arrived. I did not get any call from my service manager to inform me that the part had arrived.

b) After waiting two more months, I decided to visit Honda Pasadena again to check if the part was there now. It turned out that the manager who was handling my car was no longer employed and the part had been returned as they have a policy about the maximum number of days that a part can stay in stock! They placed the part on order again, but now I was told now that the part is not under warranty! I have perused several web forums and even showed the new manager a technical service bulletin, which clearly states that the OPDS sensor on cars of my model are covered under an extended warranty (except if the car is salvaged etc). So, I am not convinced that I was justifiably charged for the part replacement.

c) I had asked both my previous manager and the new one to give me a list of services that are due on my car. None of them remembered to give me anything to that effect.

I went there over the weekend to buy new wind shield wipers. I went directly the service desk and they asked me for my car model. They were priced at $6 a wiper. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

I took my Honda there in 2006 to get my window fixed. The rear driver window wouldn't roll up. I got quoted a price, I think around $300. I wanted to go out for additional quotes. But then I was told that I had to pay $50 for parking my car at their garage for the 20 minutes they took to inspect and quote me a price. I have never had this experience with any dealer or service center in the life of this car -- not through my body accidents, my AC troubles or the 2-3 other Honda Dealers I dealt with in the past in other locations/States. So I caved and got it fixed there. The good news is that they got the job done.

Now the suspicious and bad part came in about a week later. My car was stolen parked right outside of my apartment. Prior to going to this dealer and having to provide my address and location of my car, I have not had my car much even looked at, not to mention stolen parking there for 2 years. The only dealer (or people at the dealer) that knew this model of my car existed at my location was this one.

Coincidence, certainly. I have no proof they are related to it. However I am still suspicious at the timing it occurred. Especially after the theft, I got exorbitant amount of mail regarding Honda parts, and Honda replacements that I never received before.

Very odd to me indeed.

I requested a quote from them via email for an Accord. They said they had one in stock, and would sell for this price. To avoid hidden fees, I negotiated the out-the-door price with them. The sales rep agreed to the price, and said I could show up tomorrow to get the car. I show up at the dealer, and the sales rep says they're going to pick up the car from another dealer 60 miles away! They lied and never had the car in their possession. I waited 5 hours in their lounge for them to get the car over to their dealer. During this wait, the sales manager comes up to me in the lounge and says, sorry, we have a problem. Okay, what could it be? The sales manager says that as they were picking up the car, they noticed the car had wheel locks and mud flaps, and thus will have to pass the cost onto me at dealer cost, which is $500. I was like, no way, you guys would have known before picking the car up what it has, so I shouldn't have to fall for this bait-and-switch. Finally, I gave up on the long negotiation and agreed to add $100 to the final cost. Later, I go home and find out that the Honda website lists these items at $140 MSRP! Their claim of didn't-know-it-had-it and at $500 was a complete lie. But this bait-and-switch tactic wasn't the end of it.

I take delivery of the car and notice the back bump is scratched with the paint nicked. I ask, can you fix that up before I take delivery of the car? The dealer says, no problem, I'll have it fixed right now while it gets washed. He drives it off, and 30 mins later drives the car back. He gets out says, your car is washed and the nick is fixed!. I take a look, and it's still there! It hadn't been touched at all! I said, look!! it still there! He was straight-out lying even though both of us could clearly see the nick was still there. I gave up, and said give me the keys, and vowed never to come back to this dealer.

on july 3, 2008, i bought a 2008 civic sedan ex through the costco automotive program with this dealership. the salesperson, eddy lin, was extremely kind and courteous before AND after the purchase was made. there was never a moment of being pressured into buying the car. i even received a follow-up call about 5 days after buying the car. now, that's great service.

i'll certainly come back to honda of pasadena when i'm ready for another car and i will recommend people to this dealership.

Pros: costco auto program dealer - there was no haggling over the price

Cons: low inventory due to supply & demand of economy cars

Two months ago I brought my car to Honda of Pasadena for an oil change. Later found that they added way too much oil. Then the second day I noticed a huge pool of fresh oil under the car. My car never had oil leak before. Brought the car to another garage, and found that the guy who did the oil change did not tight the screw at all after the oil change (it was almost loosely hung there), which causes the serious oil leak. What a terrible service.

P.S. During the oil change they tried to convince me to change my air filter, but it was just changed about 500 mile ago, so I refused. Ever since this oil change, some strange foul smell comes out the air filter, especially when I turn on the fan or conditioner. Combined everything together, I guess maybe they just messed up with my car for revenge?

I will never brought my car to them again. Definitely do not recommend this dealership to anyone.

1] Took the car for an oil change, later discovered that the oil was not changed but topped up. Additionally the oil was filled up even high up even beyond the max limit given on the dipstick. Took the car back and got he oil level reduced to normal..
(I drove 600 miles with this high oil level before discovering)

2] Another time I paid 300 bucks for throttle body, injector cleaning. Later when I opened the airbox I saw the filter was dusty and there were still some dried leaves etc in the airbox, couldn't they have atleast cleaned the airbox and air filter atleast ..?
looking at this Im not sure If they even cleaned the TB and injectors also ?

3] Once they tried to convince me to get the power steering kit and flush job because I was hearing some noise from the engine. If they think you dont abt cars they will screw you.
this was already done a few months ago from a diff dealership.

4]Another prime example of their tech expertise : I had just bought the car, the previous owner had fitted a cheap replacement for the OEM exhaust from a lower capacity engine, so whenever I floored the throttle a loud rasping note was heard. These engineers told me its ok because I had a "magnaflow" exhaust fitted for performance...cmon how more retarded can these idiots be ? does a OEM muffler look anywhere close to aftermarket muffler or even sound like one ?

Avoid these clowns, the guys on the front desk talk sweetly to customers, what goes on behind in the garage is bullshit, dont trust this dealership..

The Internet sales reps don't get commission, so they can sell a vehical at a much cheaper rate than their associates. They aren't as knowledgeable about the cars though. I'm happy with the price I received on the car, but wanted a feature that was not offered on the vehical he sold me. Unfoturnately I'm having to live without it.

I hate the process of buying cars. At Honda Pasadena I experienced my first positive car-buying experience. The key I think was using their internet sales program. We negotiated everything via email and received a quote. By the time we went into the dealership, the deal was done: no negotiations, none of the "let me bring my manager in" nonsense. Easy! I'll buy my next Honda there.

We walked away from Pasadena Honda with total comptempt! Because the sales people were so RUDE. They treated us like dirt. They couldn't match the offer we gave them so we bought our honda at Sierra Autocars in Monrovia the very next day. I was so happy to walk out of that office and literally laugh in their faces. I thought the job of sales people were to try an get your business. I would make this a 0 star rating if it were possible.

I took my S2000 for an alignment. They did not have the proper equipment, and didn't really know that. Instead, they took my car and attempted to align it for an entire day. Then they gave it back to me, OUTSIDE of the factory specification. I called the manager and took the car back. He said you needed a laser alignment system for the S2000 and they didn't have it. He called around and finally found a place. They took the car and it was properly aligned. However, somewhere in this process the right rear tire was punctured by a nail. They told me, but said it was no big deal and that they patched it. It was a crummy patch job and leaked. I took it to a tire dealer and they showed me the tire and patch. The Honda dealership should have NEVER tried to patch the hole. I don't know if the puncture happened while they had the car, but either way, they don't have ANY in house expertise. Instead, they rely on outside mechanics which they have no quality control over. Terrible. As an aside

The Service Department is very professional and knowledgeable. They took care of the problem with my new Honda after I went to TWO other dealerships and was told no thing was wrong with my car. I'd avoid the sales staff, I went into by a new S2000 and the sales guy treated me like I couldn't afford the car and told me I would be better off with a Civic.

I told the salesman exactly what I wanted: color, make, model, price. The first salesperson left and another returned telling me, that guy didnt think he was going to make any money, so he didnt want to show me the car. I agreed to pay sticker, tax/license and Id pay by check. This was fine and agreeable until we got inside the dealership. Then came the extra charges: advertising, lot charges, etc After arguing these charges, the salesman says, "look the dealership wants to a make a couple of thousand." It was perfectly clear they were not out to sell a car unless it involved ripping off the consumer. BTW, I went to another dealership, paid cash for the car and financed a couple thousand for extra goodies. There was money to be made but the hounds of Pasadena didn't have the customer service and respect to make it.
