The Tempurpedic beds we bought seem all right so far (time will tell) but the representatives Delta Bedding send out to hawk Tempurpedic products seem to require a lesson in accuracy. Three of us were interested in purchasing a Tempurpedic bed from the Delta Bedding rep at the Arizona State Fair, two of us did buy. We asked about delivery and what the set up entailed, the rep informed us that the beds would be delivered, set up and the mattress cover would be put on for us, our old beds would be taken. I said I wasn't sure as I had furniture to move which would be hard for me to do - "No problem, the people who deliver will move anything that needs to be and put it back, you'll never know they have been there. " I asked if he was sure. "Oh yes, we only use the best delivery people who go out of their way to make sure you are happy." I was suspicious as this didn't sound like 'modern' practice.

When delivery time came, two of us went to the third person's house, a recently widowed lady, so she would have someone in the house with her. I am glad we were there. There was no way the delivery people would do more than set the bed up - no tools can be used (not that that was a requirement), and nothing, including mattress covers, were going to be touched let alone put on as promised. My friend called the sales rep who spoke to the men, still no luck, they claimed they stuck to Tempurpedic's recommendations of what they could do and that was NOT touching a mattress cover. So much for helping me move my furniture! They were rude and offensive to my friend, she was very upset. The rep called back claiming he had called the delivery company, spoken to the owner who was going to fire the two men and the rep also claimed he had cancelled Delta Bedding's contract with the delivery company. My other friend and I were witness to this conversation.

The next day I called the rep to inform him I did not want the same delivery people. He reiterated exactly what he had told my friend and assured me a new company would deliver mine, really nice people.

Two days later, imagine my surprise when the self same delivery company called to set up a time to deliver my bed! I told them what had happened at my friend's house and of the phone call and that I did not want their staff in my house. Minutes later the owner called to see what the problem was. I had a very interesting conversation with him. The rep had not called him, had not cancelled their contract and certainly had no right to make such exaggerated claims concerning what the delivery company would do. They had had three other complaint for the same exaggerated claims from the rep. I checked with Tempurpedic as to their guidelines for delivery and the delivery people were working to their requirements.

Now I wonder if the other claims made by the rep had any basis in truth. Does Delta refund the difference if you find the bed cheaper elsewhere? Is the bed as good as claimed (as I said, time will tell) or was his whole sales pitch just one big 'inaccuracy'. Doesn't help Tempurpedic's reputation either, even if Delta Bedding is only the middle man.
