Almost a year of incompetence, lies, stonewalling and apathy.

American Vision Windows Incorporated
This review refers to my experiences with the Orange County office of American vision windows.
On November 30, 2006 I signed a contract for seven windows and three doors. The promised install date was 6-8 weeks, which would have been 1-25-2007.
The problems started with the installation-scheduling manager and my experience with him alone would have made me cancel if I could have gotten out of the contract. He was rude, misled me, refused to answer questions, and was generally incompetent.
When I placed the order the salesman assured me that my wooden French doors would be painted and/ or stained by American vision prior to install and that everything would be installed at once. This was important to me as I had a baby due and did not want paint fumes in the house with my pregnant wife. I also needed to schedule three other contractors around the window/ door install and I needed this done prior to the babys delivery date.
My French doors were delivered to American vision and sat around for two weeks before the windows arrived. When the windows arrived the installation-scheduling manager called me to set up the install and asked if I wanted the French door painted at my house or at their shop. I told him I wanted it done at their shop as promised and he tried to dissuade me by saying that the install would be delayed because of this. I asked why they didn't paint the doors while they were sitting in the warehouse and he refused to give me an answer. I called my salesman and the sales manager and they both said that they would get everything handled and the install would go on a scheduled. At this point the installation-scheduling manager was telling me he couldnt make appointments because my cell phone wasnt working. I am self-employed and have had the same number for ten years. No one else complained about not reaching me, and I was getting calls every day when American vision supposedly couldnt get through.
Two weeks later the installation-scheduling manager called me again and asks the same thing, do I want the French door painted at my house or at their shop. I was upset now and told him that I had already ordered it done at their shop and they should have been installed already. He then stated that if it was done at their shop it would further delay the install and the painter would still have to come to my house and do touch up painting (this turned out to be a lie as no touch up was ever done, or even ordered and the install crew said it was not policy to do touch up). I insisted that it be done prior to install and he said that because their painter was very busy they could not get the painting done for a few more weeks. I was now very upset and asked why a contractor could not get painting done in a timely manner. Anyone, especially a contractor should be able to find a painter willing to paint one set of French doors within a 5-week period.
By now American vision was holding up the work schedule of three other contractors at my home. Finally after several phone calls I asked for the windows to be installed separately, and I would have the doors installed later. This was done on February 23, 2007. I immediately had to contact American vision because of problems with both bathroom windows. One was installed incorrectly and was crooked, the other was not manufactured correctly and did not close completely even when latched because the sash was too short. The crooked window was apparently installed without the use of a level because one side of the 29 wide window was lower than the other which was obvious to the naked eye. The installers were installing after a rain and didnt have enough floor covering to protect my light colored carpets. They seemed to think this was all right and I had to follow them around to make sure they werent walking on the carpet with their muddy shoes.
The doors were finally installed on 3-15-2007. I have had problems with the seals on both French doors and the bathroom door pours water into my bathroom anytime it rains. On August 8, 2007 the bathroom window was reinstalled correctly but the new window sash was still wrong. The last time I heard from anyone at American vision was September 19, 2007. I am at my wits end.
