Il Fornaio

this is an italian restuarant with a bakery inside it. if it's a nice day on burlingame ave, which it usually is, you can eat by the windows that fully open to have a somewhat outdoor meal. i believe there are even tables outside. i ate here for my parents' anniversay and we all enjoyed ourselves.

I had dinner here with a bunch of friend's for my college graduation party and it turned out horrible. The waiter took everyone's drink order but mine, messed up numerous orders, charged us for our "free" dessert and tried to rush us. Not cool.

CONS: Terrible service and the food wasn't good either

I mostly like the bakery part of this restaurant, because I'm a big bread fan and I have the biggest sweet tooth you'll ever see (if that made any sense :}. Anyways, if you love baguettes, this is the place to get some nice, hot ones. They're not like the ordinary supermarket ones. These ones TASTE like baguettes. Their tarts are also DELICIOUS (the crust is unbelievable. try the pear tarts). In the restaurant section, I'll have to go back there and see if my opinion changes, because the last time I went I didn't really like my food (which is surprising becaue I love Italian food). They have really disgusting polenta (at least the one tried was). But it's not the worst place to choose. It's very good. (great service too)

This is the mid-peninsula outpost of the hugely successful Il Fornaio mini-chain. It has good food, great service and perfect atmosphere. It is without question our daughter's favorite restaurant. She enjoys the energy of the place, the fact that there are often other kids there and the bread sticks, of course.

We enjoy the Salad Del Fornaio, the grilled salmon and, of course, the Tiramisu.

It's busy, so reserve on Open Table.
