This place probably the crown jewel for Chinese seafood restaurant in Los Angeles. Their food are full flavored and yummy. Newport style lobster is their main famous dish. Also I love their fried rice and stir fry Ong choy

YUM YUM YUM! I can't say enough about their house special lobster - it is truly to die for! It's definitely a must if you're sick of the bland "lobster dip in butter" kinda thing. Definitely plan ahead and pad in some extra time if you have a big party because you won't get seated if your party's not all there. And the line is LONG!

We've eaten at this Newport Seafood and also at the Rowland Heights location. Can't pick a favorite location, both are very good. Like everyone says, get the lobster dish! Clams and geoduck are very good dishes as well.

I feel ripped off. 1st, we had to wait in line. We ordered house crab, french style beef and veggies. They used the same sweet/pepper gravy for both the crab and beef. And the most ridiculous of all, the veggies were swimming in grease and half BURNT!!!! I didn't dare to send it back cos I didn't want spxt in my food. Our experience was rounded up with the waiters forgetting to come back with the change. Plus it was a bit pricy for what we had!!! For Christ's sake, why would people queue to come to this ridiculous crappy hole of a joint??

Pros: None

Cons: Queue, rubbish food & service, expensive for what it is, have to pay cash

This has got to be one the best lunch special restaurants out there. But it is CASH only. Food is cheap and you should definitely get the clam, fish fillet, and kung pao chicken. If you can afford, get one...tasty, but good if large parties.

If you are craving lobster done the Vietnamese/Chinese way, this is definitely the place to go to. The house lobster is their #1 specialty. The chicken feet salad is delicious, and so is the black pepper steak dish. Plan ahead though, because this place will get packed all day, especially on weekends. Parking can also be a problem, but street parking is generally available. Prices are decent, you get what you pay for, and more. I definitely would recommend this place.

Authenic, succulent Chinese dishes including house special lobster, crab, fried whole fish, French beef, etc. Daily (7 days a week) lunch specials are very inexpensive ($4-6 per and fast! On holidays, there are no lunch specials, except for take-out. Hot & Sour Soup included for dine-in only. Located in BUSY plaza, so good luck parking.

PROS: Excellent Chinese food, esp. fresh lobster & crab
CONS: Parking is tough in this very busy plaza, so go early

Tanks filled with giant lobsters, bustling crowds, and great smells, that's what this place is all about. At lunch, you can get a whole fried fish for 3.95$! Try the French Style Beef, it's a real winner, as are the clams, frog legs, and the expensive but worth it, Lobster in House Special Sauce. A real find! Warning: this place can be crowded!

In an anonymous strip mall in Alhambra that already boasts a great pho (vietnamese noodle) place, we keep going back for Newport - the wait is long, the kids run wild and the parking sucks, but once seated the waiters will get you the lobster whether you want it or not (believe us, you want it) and you will begin to understand the allure of the place.... Other to-die-for dishes - the calamari, the steamed fish, the fried noodles and the "dou miao" (sweet pea shoots - a kind of green vegetable). Strangely enough, considering most of the staff (and presumably the kitchen) is Vietnamese, the vietnamese dishes are indifferent - forget the "bo luc lac" (beef) and stick with the chinese dishes.
