I had taken 3 dogs now for dentals and am extremely happy with their work. I highly recommend them. I had also taken my 2 cats there for years. Both cats lived to be 19.

I love this office. I do a lot of fostering and bring all my kitties here. They always treat them with the best care and all the love they deserve as if they were their own.

I originally went to this vet hospital because the cost was less than any other place. My first fosters were strays that I brought in to see Dr. Espinosa. They took excellent care of these very difficult to work with kitties.

My next set of fosters I took in to Dr. Rodriguez. She gives me great advise how to care and help my fosters and asks how they are doing and if they have been adopted on follow up visits. I continue to take all my permanent pets as well as my fosters and local area strays to her for all their medical care.

I now come to this vet office because I trust Dr. Rodriguez with my pets/fosters and she knows exactly how to properly care for them. Thank you Dr. Rodriguez, you are an amazing, caring vet. I appreciate everything you have done for my little babies. :)

Thank You!!

I've been taking my cats to La Mesa Pet Hospital for over 16 years,,,3 cats, now two. Dr. Reese helped us with a very sick 15 year old cat, Queenie, during her intestinal cancer 2 years ago. She saved us hundreds of dollars with her no-nonsense approach to medical care.
I can call and talk with the staff regarding any health questions; they will quote you over the phone what your costs will be for vaccinations, etc., BEFORE you come in.
They never try to upsell you on anything. As a matter of fact, they will let you know if something is not necessary, which saves you even more money.
This has to be THE MOST efficient, caring, vet practice in San Diego!

When our feline friend of 19 years (Brown Cow) came to the end of his journey, we were so comforted by the reverence and dignity bestowed upon the transition by the staff at The Pet Hospital of La Mesa and particularly Dr. Espinosa.

Brown Cow is now gone but the memories and the kind letter from Dr. Espinosa remain.

Thank you all.

I love Jewel. She is very personable, caring and insightful. However, the front desk staff leave a lot to be desired, and are often rude, condescending and short. They really need training in appropriate customer service.

I think the world of Dr. Reese. I hope she reads these reviews because one of her staff was increadably inappropriate over the phone and I was shocked! I called to get my dog nuetered and was basically told no! not until the end of June and I was welcome to go elsewhere. I did exactly that! I called 6 other vets and all of them were willing to take my lab in that day ot the next. I was given price quotes and had begun my research on the vets, hospitals and staff. We ended up going to Parkway Pet Hospital where they not only met the best price they did better than that and they were amazing with the way they treated us. Our dog is now nuetered and doing great! I'm torn right now and very disappointed with The Pet Hospital of La Mesa's Staff. I'm sad for Dr. Reese. I think a staff meeting is definately in order!!!

I had a great experience at this vet. Dr. Miguel was very nice and took great care of our puppy. He even called later that day to check on our dog. I have never had any vet care more about our dog than the money. We have chosen to make this our new vet for years to come. I recommend this vet to all of our friends and family.

Dr. Rodriguez administered and recommended a drug called Tri-Otic Ointment that made my dog deaf. My dog is 14 years old and I always tested her earing and sight...since she is older, and before the administration of this drug (as an antibiotic for a small noggel in my dogs ear), my dog could hear near perfect. One day after the administration...which Dr. Rodriguez prescribed for 10 DAYS, my dog could no longer hear. I paniced and called them on a Saturday morning to see if this was a common side effect. That Dr was not in to talk to me so I explained my concern to the reception ladies and they stated that they NEVER heard of such a thing but scheduled me to see the Dr. Monday morning (her first opening). I saw her and she had no answers for me except that she had prescribed this drug to over a 1000 (yes she said 1000) dogs and never had this problem; that my dog may just be getting OLD...I freaked out...she was completely FINE before this drug was given to her! I left irritated and decided to go home and do my own research. I entered the drug online to look up common side effects, and within 5 minutes of reading reviews, I found that Deafness is a common side effect for geriatric dogs (like mine) for tri otic ointment. I am shocked that a vet does not know the regular side effects of the drugs they administer. AND all reviews of this drug (on many different sites) indicate that you should never administer more than 7 days MAX! Dr. Rodriguez wanted me to give this to my dog for 10 DAYS!!! After a deep ear wash, partial hearing has returned, but nothing like she was before I brought her to that Veterinary office. Being 14 years old, her hearing was valuable and Dr. Rodriguez TOOK that from my dog AND me! Now when I call her, she barely responds! She AND the reception ladies, need to know a bit more about the drugs they so readily prescribe. Please think twice before you take your valuable little pets to this vet!!!!! You have been Warned!

Had specialist ultrasound..diagnosed foreign body, perforation of intestine, internal bleeding. I didn't want them to do the surgery..$5000. Took to Dr. Katzer in Jamul. Cut my dog open-NO FOREIGN BODY, NO PERFORATION, NO INTERNAL BLEEDING. These people are frauds. I am suing thema and reporting them to State Board and BBB

Love this place! I've taken a number of cats here. I've never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes, and the diagnosis and care always makes sense. Prices are VERY reasonable compared to other vets.

I have taken all my pets to this pet hospital for years now. We drove as far as Campo when we lived up there. They have always been fair with the prices and very gentle with our scared animals. I would and do recommend them to everyone I can.

Dr. Rodriguez is an awesome Vet at this hospital! She helped me through so much with my 8month old puppy. He ate something he wasn't supposed to, and could potentially lead to kidney failure and stomach ulcers. She took great care of him, and called everyday to check up on him. She's so patient and takes time to sit down and actually go over all the information, and care needed. I could tell she truly has a passion for animals, and her best interest is in all of her patients. She's a wonderful Vet Doc, and you can tell she's dedicated to what she does! Not only is the Doc great, but the staff as well. I was very pleased on my visits here, and plan on continuing my pups care here. Everyone was so professional, extremely helpful and VERY CARING towards my dog and I. I definitely recommend this place for all pet owners!!! The pricing is reasonable as well.

I've been going to Pet Hospital of La Mesa since 1998, and I'll stay with them as long as I live in the San Diego area. All 4 of my dogs have been patients of this office since I adopted them. Dr. Espinosa has been my primary vet from the beginning, and he always takes his time and shows great concern for my pets. He even gets on the floor and allows my Bull Mastiff Moana lick his face.

I've also seen Dr. Reese a few times and she is truly an amazing vet. She shows so much compassion for the animals she sees, and takes her time to be sure she gives a correct diagnosis.

Great job to their entire team!

I absolutely love Dr. Reese, I really can't say enough about her! She is so patient, kind, gentle and you can tell she adores animals and treats our pets as one of her own. She literally gets down on the floor and pets and coos to gain their trust. I have never taken my pets anywhere else so I don't know how the price compares to other places but to me it's a small price to pay for great quality and having the peace of mind that my dog is being taken care of by an amazing vet. The only reason that I didn't give this place 5 stars is because their other vet, Dr. Espinosa. He is very cold and somewhat condescending. He was our vet for two visits but once we got Dr. Reese by mistake and realized how great she was, we decided to have her see our dogs every time.

Our dog broke his toe. They didn't have the right size splint to they used an aluminum bar. A week later our dog had a massive infection in his leg under the bandage, it was down to the bone. Dr Rodriguez had obviously bandaged it incorrectly. She apologized. As a result he has a huge scar which is still very painful and the toe is still broken. When I approached Dr Espinoza about it he was rude and patronizing.
Dr Espinoza misdiagnosed the cause of our other dogs lameness. He said it was hip dysplasia even though she was limping on the other leg!! I took her to an Orthopedic Vet and she was diagnosed as having severe arthritis in her elbows and hock.

Dr. Rodriguez has saved two our pets. First our Lucky Dog was bitten by a coyote and had a huge infection and she saved him. Then our kitty Cubby had a kitty virus and almost died of 105 fever. She is really the best vet in town. Dr. M. Espinoza the owner has been a family friend for many years and is the heart of this hospital. Our family is eternally grateful for their kindness. This hospital is also very reasonably priced.

Dr. April Rodriguez is amazing! She is kind, patient, and truly seems to care about the welfare of my Siamese cat. She always takes the time to explain everything thoroughly and answer all the questions I have. She also makes sure my cat is feeling calm and relaxed before any examinations (which is great since he??s so skittish!).

She was even kind enough to clean him up free of charge after he had a little accident on the way to the office on our last visit...she even gave me a new towel to line my carrier so he would be more comfortable. After each visit, she always follows up with a phone call to check up on the little guy, and to see if I had any other questions or concerns...I wish MY doctor was this good!

The Pet Hosp. of La Mesa was recommended to me by a family member and I was very happy with Dr. Reese and the experience we had! My rescue puppy went for her 1st check-up and they honored the "free visit" certificate I got from the SPCA Shelter. Dr. Reese was very kind, gentle and thorough. She was patient with my puppy and she explained everything to me in clear detail. They did not "nickle and dime" me for services and their office hours are very convenient for working folks. I would highly recommend The Pet Hospital of La Mesa!!

She was so sweet and good to my baby Meli the Mastiff. She took her time and earned her trust (after Meli's bad experience with other vet) and just sat on the floor and let her know that she was going to take care of her. She is great with animals & animal owners! She is great with dogs & cats...she also cares for my cat... so, I know. I am so glad we found her and recommend her to everyone! Your pets will be in good hands with her!

Took one of my two rescue kitties there to be neutered because they honor the "pet assistant discount". Dr. Espinoza was the Vet who neutered my kitty, all went smooth and I picked him up the same day. Dr. Espinoza even called our house at 9:30pm that night to check up on his litlle patient. I thought that was REALLY nice. The staff treated me the same as a paying customer and I have since only brought both of my cats to this office. I do not like the "trend" in other corporate Vet offices that nickle and dime you for everything. They run like a corporation not a caring animal hospital. Pet hospital of La Mesa is truley an expection to that rule. They have a customer for life with me.

I took my dog here because they honor the pet assistance discount for spay and neuter. All the staff was very friendly, very attentive and really took good care of my pooch. They gave me all the choices for the extras for the surgery, but didnt make me feel like a bad person if I didnt want some of them.

Although I live some distance from there, I may continue to bring my dog because I was so impressed with their services.

The Pet Hospital of La Mesa cares for my dog as if she is one of their own. I feel safe there because she feels safe there. I appreciate being informed about any new situation, including a choice of medications. Their rates are reasonable, the staff is caring and vets are thorough. Wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.

We take both of our dogs to the Pet Hospital of La Mesa. They are very helpful and caring. Unlike some Vets, they present all the options that are available. Sometimes expensive surgery is not the best choice, and it is nice to be given that choice. Our dogs like going there, and they are very pleasant to visit.
