I have been to Lauthr many times and have always had a great experience. It has a very upscale feel but with very fair prices for the excellent first class stylists that work there.

Heidi is incredible with the latest hairstyles and Megan is a top notch skin technician. You get the best in the North Bay.

I recommend Lauthr to anyone is Sonoma or Marin counties - it's worth the drive to have your hair done right the first time and every time.

I have been going to Lauthr Salon for over a year now and I will NEVER go anywhere else for my hair or skin. They know what their doing and do it professionally. I enjoy the environment the most. When I walk in I am always greeted with a smile and asked if I need anything, like a glass of water or some tea. I almost always fall asleep while I am getting my facial done by Megan who has improved my skin dramatically. My hair is kept looking fresh and vibrant by Heidi. She always shows me tips on how to style my new look and I appreciate that.

The salon is a great way to give back to yourself at the end of a long hard day, so go enjoy yourself!

At my first hair appointment I was offered a beverage and I had a selection to choose from. I went with the peach ice tea. It was perfect because it was hot out side and I had one heck of a day at the office. It literally made my day. I left there feeling refreshed and beautiful. Every appointment is like it was my first here and that is called good customer service.

Lauthr is a unique salon, not only because of its large size and urban feel, but for the atmosphere among the staff...You can tell instantly that these people all get along...there is no salon drama...You will get personalized care not only from the stylists, but from their great esthetician Megan, and anyone else that you happen to meet during your appointment.
Great skill...relaxed environmnet...fabulous boutique...
all Bumble and Bumble products...and most of all friendly....

58-year-old guys like me don't have the thick and wavy hair any more so getting a hair cut that looks good is actually a lot more difficult than you think, as any 58-year-old guy will tell you.

I walked into Lathur because I saw it across the street while making a deposit at the Bank America at Washington & Petaluma, and had a little time on my hands.

I could not believe how very cool the place looked and got the best hair cut of my life while drinking a glass of wine, all for a special price of 25 bucks!

You guys gotta get in there.

this salon is wonderful! I used them for my wedding this past weekend and was more then pleased with how beautiful my bridesmaids and I looked with the help of the Lauthr staff!!!
They had never ending champagne for us and a great lounge in the back for us to hang out in while we were waiting for everyone to be finished. I would recommend Lauthr to any bride who is looking for a great salon!!

I recently got married and had the pleasure of getting my hair and makeup done at Lauthr!!! The whole experience was so relaxing and fun. They even had champagne for my whole bridal party. My hair was a pretty elaborate style so I was very careful when choosing a salon. I recently had a wonderful experience at Lauthr Salon!! I came in for a facial and it was by far the best facial I have ever had. They use Yonka skin care products which smell and feel wonderful!! Megan, the esthetician was great and really friendly. I highly recommend that if you want a great facial in a beautiful environment, that you check out Lauthr!!!
They also have a fabulous boutique in the front with tons of fun things for summer!!!!

I went to the new Lauthr salon this past weekend and was so delightfully impressed. The new owners and staff are very professional and the salon has a hip and edgy feel to it. There is a great boutique in the front of the store with some really unique items. The atmosphere is unpretentious, unlike other upscale salons I?ve frequented, and most important... the stylists are creative and innovative in their approach to hair and skin. What a refreshing approach, listen to your client?s wants and needs. I felt completely at ease letting my stylist, Kristeen, design a color and cut just for my hair. I LOVE my hair! I believe I?ve found a new home.

I am new to the area and walked by Lauthr. The window displays and colorful exterior caught my eye. I made an appointment a few days later for a waxing. The staff was so curtious and it was such a relaxing expierence, I cant imagine going to any other salon. Megan, one of the owners (It was great to actually meet and build a relationship with an owner) was amazing and after working with her I made a second appointment for a facial. Everyone that works there is very professional and expierenced and the salon was extremely clean. I have already told half of the girls in my office about Lauthr. Hands down I would recommend anyone to go to Lauthr for all their beauty needs.

I recently visited Lauthr for a hair appointment. It is under new ownership and they have done amazing things with the place. There is an adorable boutique in the front for you to shop while you wait. I was given a warm welcome and offered an array of beverages right away. I got my hair done by Patty and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She was very patient and gave me the best shampoo I have ever had!

The new owners have completely transformed the place and my favorite part is the fabulous boutique in the front!!! My hair and eyebrows have never looked better!!! I have tried almost all high end salons in Sonoma County and I have to say that the ambiance and staff at Lauthr has finally met my expectations of what a true salon should be. I got the best highlites I have ever had, my stylist Heidi got my blonde to a beautiful platinum blonde that I have always asked for but never got. I also was able to squeeze in a bikini wax with their esthetician Megan and it was great, as painless as it could possibly be and she was quick and very clean. They have a boutique in the front of the salon that has tons of fun stuff like rinestone tank tops and cute shoes at very reasonable prices. I felt rejuvinated after my time at Lauthr and I would highly reccommend this salon to anyone who wants fantastic service.

I had my hair done by a wonderful woman named Amanda Groom. She was very friendly, down to earth, easy to talk to and she did a fabulous job on my hair! My old stylist was stale and I felt that she always gave me the same thing over and over again. I needed a change and Amanda was it. I whole heartedly recommend seeing Amanda. She will change your perspective about sitting in the stylist chair. I actually enjoy my visit with her. She will make you look amazing and feel young and vibrant. I hope you'll visit her soon...Amanda Groom!

If you live in the north bay and want a hot / now / trendy cut go to Lauthr - When you walk into the salon you have to pinch yourself in order to remember that you are not in San Francisco, but instead Petaluma - It totally has that city / trendy vibe. I have always gone to Kathy (I think it's spelled with a K) - Her cuts are so 'now', she is so fun to talk to, and she always makes me feel like I'm at some upscale spa - Always offering me special teas, etc. - Just tell her what general look you want and let her go with her creative flair - You will not be disappointed - She has a way of listening to what you want and mixing it with how she thinks you will look best - I always leave the salon feeling hot and I always get lots of compliments.

I followed Kathy over from another salon, and I have to say that Lauthr's space, hair product lines and overall atmosphere is fantastic! I am always greeted promptly, served a beverage, and walk out of there an hour later with lovely highlights and styled hair. Kathy will take the time to give you exactly what you are looking for, and is extremely knowledgeable about not only styling but what products will make your hair look great in between coloring sessions or cuts. The large space gives each stylist plenty of room to get creative, and the special events with other local businesses are always fun and unique. You may forget how to spell Lauthr, but you won't forget your experience there!

Kathy Jeter has the combination in a hair stylist I've been looking for. After going to a Salon for 15 yrs I decided to try Kathy, a stylist my daughter recommended. She gave me a cut that is perfect for my hair and lifesytle AND the color is so youthful! The products she has recommended me to use on my colored hair have kept it feeling and looking healthy. It's a challenge to satisfy a middle-aged client... my expectation was for her to take 10yrs off my looks ... and she did!

Also, I enjoy walking into Lauthr Salon. It has a open, urban, hip atmosphere. I always notice how focused each stylist is on their own client. It's a classy place. That reminds me, I have an appointment next week!

First let me say that I am a male that takes great pride in my hair and looks. I just retired and moved here from LA and now living in Napa Valley. A hairdresser friend of mine from LA suggested that I MUST go see a young lady named Amanda at a salon called Lauthr in Petaluma. So, I said ok lets give Amanda a try. I made the appointment and was pleasantly surprised with the service Amanda provided. I was offered a hot or cold drink as we sat to discuss what we were going to do. I told Amanda that a friend from LA recommended her and I trust her to do whatever she wanted. Let me tell you that when she was finished, I could not believe the work she did on my hair. I was very impressed. As soon as I left Lauthr, I called my friend back in LA and thanked her so much for recommending Amanda to me. I will now follow Amanda wherever she may be just to have her cut and style my hair.

I had my hair cut and colored by Kathy and it's one of the best cuts I've had in years (color is also perfect). The vibe is cozy AND trendy (hard combo to accomplish). I also snagged some Cinema Secrets concealer which is the only thing that can combat infant induced dark circles:) Lastly, there is parking down below them which is a huge plus in a downtown location.

First let me just say how amazing Amanda is. There are very few stylists that listen to what you want these days, Amanda not only listens, but she follows through with what you want, and in the end the results are always spectacular. I've been getting my hair done by her for a little over a year now and every appointment I have had turns out fabulous. She's always on time, polite and she is extremely focused on her work. Not only that she makes you feel like your at home when you are at the salon. She is always up on the latest cutting and coloring techniques and knows the best products to care for your hair. I highly, highly recommend you visit Lauthr to get your hair done by Amanda. If you are looking for a new hairstylist, call Lauthr ASAP and make an appointment before she fills up! I went to lauthr to have my hair cut and dyed, The stylist that they gave to me her name was Amanda she suggested that I go darker with blonde highlights! I said are you crazy.... she said that I looked to washed out with my hair being just blonde. So I let her do her thing and boy was that the best thing I have ever done. I have people tell me all the time that I do not look like the same person and they love my hair. The best thing about my new hair color and cut is people say I look a lot younger. I also enjoyed the service at lauthr very nice and clean salon.

I live in petaluma and was going to another salon in Santa Rosa. A friend was getting married and picked lauthr to do the hair for the wedding. I was a bridesmaid and loved what they did to my hair for the wedding. The space is really cool and the receptionist was so nice. We had a lot of girls in there for the wedding and they stayed calm and took care of all of us. My hair for the wedding was not a typical wedding hair, I felt stylish and it stayrd up all night. I liked it there so much I made an appointment for my hilights. My stylist was great, I had my hair hilighted and she did what I had been trying to get my other stylist to do. I love my color. I feel like she listened to me. I will go back and send my friends.

I dont want to rip this place too bad- but for a salon that was basically empty the 4 times I was there- I was always forced to "wait". I had highlights done and each time they were very "chunky" and far away from the root. I left with what always looked like a 1 month growth. If I pulled my hair into a ponytail- the streaks were horribly obvious- not natural, not what I was looking for. I know, I know- I kept going back- but it was the evil "I knew"- and while it was not a good color job- it was not a damaging one either. The hair cut was very "I just got out of a cheap beauty school" chop. Not bad if you like Betty Page bangs...Also really too expensive for what you get......

I have had nothing but great experiences at Lauthr. I have been getting my hair done by Kim, the owner, for years and years and have always been given a hip, stylish cut and color. I appreciate the fact that Kim and the other stylists are always going to classes and educating themselves on best practices. I feel that there is a desire to always be learning and improving their craft. I have recently moved away and have yet (after 5 years) to find a salon or stylist that compares. I still drive back to Lauthr for services. I like the honesty I get from Kim when I bring a photo in of a style I want. She'll always tell me if my hair texture won't work or if the cut or color won't work with my face or skin tone. I've had girls who have just cut my hair in the style of a photo I've brought in and it looked nothing like the picture and terrible on me.
As for the salon, I love the open space and feel. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I like to get there early to look at all the products that are available. I think you will find what you need at Lauthr Salon!!

What incredible experiences I've had at Lauthr the past few years! I've finally decided to write about it and share my stories. First of all, the setting is incredible! Old rustic antique building that's very open. I love it that you feel a seclusion with your stylist! I can't stand other salons that are cramped and way too cozy. The feel is clean, relaxing and very Zen. They offer wonderful espresso drinks as well as elixir's and beautiful teas. The service is always top notch! My color is consistently perfect and always what I ask for. (why don't other salons know how to do that?) My cut's have always been the best....whether I want something simple or fun and wild. I also admire how they contribute to the community. Many times, the salon has opened up on their usual shut day and service homeless folks and/or women and children from the shelter. What a nice way for a woman to build back her self confidence. This is just one of many examples of their heart felt help in the community. I always look forward to my appointment at Lauthr. It's a time to relax in a great open atmosphere and leave feeling renewed with a fabulous cut and color! I highly recommend it.

I've been a client to Joe Hamer's Salon, Elle Lui, Biquor & Biquor, and The Leading Edge and am very critical when it comes to my overall satisfaction with a hair salon. I have very high expectations of a hair salon and I have "moved" from the salons above simply because at least one of the following critical aspects was lacking in my experience with each:

Obviously I want my hair cut/color to be done to my liking, but equally important would be: 1) a professional staff , both in appearance AND conversation; 2) a stylist on time when I arrive and timely with my appt as well; 3) a clean, yet modern and chic salon atmosphere; 4) genuinely friendly and outgoing employees to create a warm atmosphere; 5) the industry's best products & competitive pricing; and 6) feedback (and changes) from my stylist to ensure that she is providing the best "look" for my face and skin coloring

Kim and her asst provide not only a terrific cut/color (and massage) each visit, but ALL of the aspects above necessary to me for a pleasant salon experience. I expect a lot and I don't want to have to wait 1/2 hour for my stylist, nor do I want to see bare midriffs or an unprofessional number of piercings/tattoos on the staff.

At Lauthr, the staff greets me with a smile, offers me a beverage, and I've waited only 5 minutes max for Kim. The atmosphere is very modern, the music is always terrific, the staff is courteous, friendly...and cute, and my hair always looks great when I leave. A few extra chairs/magazines could be added to the waiting area but I know this is already being taken care of!

I am a professional and I don't have the time/energy to waste on a salon that is anything but the best experience for me. And for me, when compared to most other salons locally, Lauthr is by far the best for me!

One of the best parts of Lauthr is the space. I love the openness of it, and that they kept the original hardwood floors, it adds to the comfort of the place. My favorite room is the back, where the treatment rooms are. The color, use of the skylights, and the separation from the rest of the salon, leads to a relaxing and peaceful environment. The staff is always friendly, courteous, and very informative. If I have a question they can't answer, they find someone who can. They have a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether you are a long time client, or a first time client. I have been getting my hair done by Kim, the owner, since before she opened Lauthrs' doors. I know the high standards and expectations she has in herself, and it flows down into her staff. Her constant quest for education and training in her art, is available to everyone that works for her, even the front desk. I know that I will get the best service possible, no matter who I see. For me this is what sets Lauthr apart from most salons. I recently moved away, and although there are many capable salons in my area, even award winning, I will continue to come back home to Lauthr. For me there is no other salon.

I have heard really mixed reviews about this place and reading the other posts, there isn't a really consistent experience to be had at Lauthr. I see a stylist named Mandy for my cut and color. I have been extremely happy so far with everything she has done. She is professional and friendly and has a great personal style that reassures me I am in good hands. I have received a lot of compliments on my hair since she started doing it. The receptionists are very friendly and helpful. There isn't anywhere comfortable to sit and wait for your appointment. As other reviewers mentioned, it always seems slow and kind of empty. My stylist is good though.

I will not be returning to Lauthr salon. I've heard nothing but good reviews from a couple of my friends but they all go to Kim, the salon owner. So I decided to give this salon two chances after the first one turned out to be a bust, I was placed with someone clearly fresh out of beauty school and in no way capable of managing her own hair, much less mine! I found the receptionist was fairly nice but never appeared happy to be there, I soon found out why. The second time I asked for the color specialist thinking I would be with a top stylist with imagination and fashion forward creativity, but she gave me a very manufactured, generic, run of the mill highlight lowlight. I felt 'cloned' when i walked out of there, every other girl had the same style! And it wasn't a particularly great one, either. Also, during my appointment she badmouthed about another client who had just left, how unprofessional! The girls were pretty gossipy, and all the other stylists hung out at the front desk and rudely just stared while I checked in for my appt and when I paid and left. No one working there seemed to really even like eachother, weird vibe for me.

I've been going to Lauthr Salon since it opened in Petaluma, and have had the good fortune of having my hair cut and colored by Kim, the talented and creative owner. In fact, she just won a national hairstyling award. I've had my hair done all over the bay area and other places in Petaluma, but Lauthr is absolutely the best. Kim has high standards and personally manages every detail of the salon - including the training of new hairstylists. The staff is always friendly and goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The salon is in a large warehouse setting complete with old wooden floors, which can feel a bit empty at times as referred to by another reviewer. But I feel this is mainly due to the size of the place and certainly not the quality of the work performed there. Personally, I love how open and roomy the salon feels. You're not sitting on top of the next lady getting her hair done like so many other crampt salons. I look forward to many more years of going to Lauthr for my salon services.

I love my hair!! Kim the owner just did the most fabulous cut & color on me. I showed her a picture and she instructed me that the pictures I chose where not the best for my face shape and life style. I am not a celebrity I had to remind myself. Kim came up with another idea that was even more stylish than the picture I brought in. I am a mom but still want to look up to date and stylish and a little on the punk side. Kim said she goes to New York to study at bumble and bumble so I felt she was knowledgeable about what is in style. Not only do I look like a celebrity it takes me only minutes to style my hair. Kim recomended bumble and bumble styling products and I love them. I have never been to a hairstylist and had them be so honest with me and want to listen to me. The salon is beautiful and the receptionist was so nice. I was going to another salon in Petaluma that was "too cool" for their own good. I am telling all my friends about Lauthr.

Two of my girlfriends recommended the esthetician, Audrey, at Lauthr, and now I am hooked too. She is a superstar! I love spas and expensive resorts for treatments. Sometimes they are great and other times, they are just blah. I have never ever experienced such a relaxing facial anywhere else. Audrey is so warm and welcoming. She offered to adjust the temperature of the room and even asked if I had a music preference. When she got down to business, I knew I was in capable hands. She didn't chatter at all during the treatment which is a huge plus in my book. When I asked a couple of questions about my skin and why I'm still breaking out at 32, she was a wealth of information. She recommended some things to try without the buy-a-million-products hard sell. Speaking of products, everything she used during my facial felt great and smelled amazing. The massage was to die for and my skin has been great for days. She did extractions which almost always hurts and I barely felt it...wow! She never left the room and was always working on me (another huge plus) and at the end, she quietly left me alone to dress and had a nice glass of ice water waiting for me outside when I was ready. Just superior service.

I went back for waxing before my vacation ...brazilian (woohoo), brows, legs and underarms, and she had me finished in under an hour with a completely thorough and pain-free job done. I cannot begin to say enough good things about my experience at this salon. Thanks, Audrey. I will be back any time!

I also had a bad experience here. While the receptionist was very nice, the place was pretty empty. On a Saturday. I don't know who the other reviewer went to but i felt that this girl had just ran out of beauty school. She did not do what i asked (at all). She seemed like she knew it wasn't good and was trying to make me believe it was GREAT! I don't care if i get a cappuccino, i just want great hair. And i didn't get it here. I will not be returning.

I had the best experience at Lauthr. I travel often for work and always have my hair done on the road. This salon by far is the best experience I have had. The minute I walked in they offered me a cappucino and I was surrounded by makeup lines I usually only see at Sephora. I first had a (painless) bikini wax :) then I had my hair highlighted and cut. I love my hair!! I am a Lauthr loyal

I was almost in tears within minutes. It took a good 15 minutes for her to even VAGUELY understand what i wanted. She clearly didn't know general hairstyling techniques.

She washed my hair and then RIPPED through it with a brush!!! WHILE it was wet!!! No detangler, no wide tooth comb... just ripped through my very thick head of curly distressed hair. I heard it snapping and i winced and crouched over. I considered walking out several times during this horrifying experience, but i was too chicken. My 'style' was half-done (half curled with a curling iron and the rest 'scrunched'. yes, scrunched.) when i left. in tears. The salon was empty, i should've known.
