Overpriced. . .but!  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

But! I've never gone there and not had something intensely entertaining happen at a nearby table. From excessively shiny girls taking pictures of each other to an awkward (and failed) marriage proposal--this place has got it all. The food? Fine, but should be about 20% cheaper. The wine selection is good, but overpriced. And sometimes the corners smell of ant spray. But, again: the people watching. Good.

Disappointing and Overly Expensive Tapas Joint  2 Star Rating - Wouldn't recommend

I was SO excited to try Cobras and Matadors. I love tapas, it's one of my absolute favorite foods, and I had yet to find a good tapas restaurant in LA.

Unfortunately, I am still looking for a good tapas restaurant in LA because this was not it. The food was okay, but not great. And the small plates were honestly too expensive. They were the price of normal plates at a normal restaurant. The whole point of tapas is to get multiple small plates!

So sadly, my quest for good tapas continues. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

I LOVE Cobras & Matadors!  5 Star Rating - World class

One of my favorite restaurants ever! I love trying lots of different dishes, and with the small portions and reasonable prices it's easy to do just that!

Good Customer Service, but... 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

I had dinner there last night. The "B" rating on the front door should have been enough of a warning. The service was nice and everyone was attentive however the food was TERRIBLE! We ordered the mussels. EW!!! EWWW!! They were the worst mussels I've ever has in my life. I thought maybe it was just me and I was being picky (after I ate 3 of them it ruined my appetite...) because my boyfriend kept eating them. However, we decided not to order anything else there and left. After we left he said the mussels tasted like they'd been fished out of long beach harbor. (he didn't send them back because he didn't want to hurt our server's feelings.) The other two things we ordered were patties of grease (tainted with the smell of those nasty mussels). Worst meal I've had all year. Seriously. Not exaggerating.

Good Service, okay Sangria, BAD food! 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

A friend and I had dinner here last night and were so dissapointed! The service was great but the food...my goodness! If you're expecting any kind of authentic spanish tapas, this place is not the place to go. Our waitress HIGHLY recommended the lentils (said they were best sellers!), and when we got them, they were like little crispy ants in a dish. They tasted and SOUNDED (yes sounded) literally burnt to a crisp! The sugar chili prawns were mushy and really gross. Guess it doesn't help that we lived in spain for 4 months, but I've had better out here. Will not return...unless it's for the olives and sangria.

Pros: Service, Sangria, Olives & nuts at the tables
Cons: Food - Stay away from the crispy ants (aka LENTILS)

Great tapas, nice atmosphere, excellent service!!! make reservations!!! 5 Star Rating - World class

We always have a great time here, our all time favorites are the bacon wrapped prawns, sweet potato fries, bacon wrapper figs, steak very tender, and cooked to perfection, and asparagus dish with nuts. Great Sangria, gets to you pretty quickly. The pace is very busy; therefore, I would recommend reservations in advance. We always sit in the area of our favorite waiter, Anthony. The Maitre'd, has always been very attentive and accommodating. Great place for larger groups. We always wonderful time, and will come back sometime soon.

Pros: Good tapas, excellent service!

Portions are way too small! 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

A group of friends and I went last night. It is a very cool looking spot. I liked the decor a lot. And we were very pleased to see Ryan Gosling hanging out with a group of friends. I think this place is great for an intimate/romantic date. There were four people in our group. Two of whom had never been to a tapas restaurant before and were concerned about portion sizes and sharing. The waitress assured us that each plate was plenty to share with a group of four people. She lied! The portions were extremely small! I've been to a few tapas restaurants before and these portions were considerably smaller than what I had experienced in the past. The average tapas entree cost around $15. That can add up really quick when you have to keep ordering just to make sure the whole group gets at least halfway full. The food itself was really good! The bacon wrapped prawns were fantastic! However, as i said, the waitress said the portion sizes were large enough to feed a group of four, yet only 3 prawns came in the entree! That meant that we couldn't even get one prawn each!!!! Ugh! The $18 skirt steak was really good, as well. Very tender. But way too small to share. The grilled salmon was excellent, but once again, way too small to share. The sangria was really good and so were the churros and flourless chocolate cake. Excellent! Besides the portion sizes and prices, my only other complaint was the personality of our waitress. She was 'cordial' but rather sour and aloof. Anyway, by the end of the night, including tip our bill came to $197. Fabulous. It's truly a genius concept to get money out of people. You feel like in order to get full, you MUST keep ordering plates of food! So your bill just grows and grows. Ha! However, all in all, I will probably go again. But next time, I will eat before going and be more savvy about how to order.

Pros: The food was excellent and the ambiance was fantastic!
Cons: Portions are way too small and tapas entrees are way overpriced!
