Designscape

I've read the previous reviews of DesignScape and it is so sad that this brilliant concept had left so many people disappointed!

I know that DesignScape has gone through some very difficult challenges in the past few years.

However, they are now completely under new management.

None, literally not one person who used to work for DesignScape is currently on staff.

They have had a complete change and are running the business with integrity and professionalism.

If you are tempted to work for this company or use their services, BEWARE They did not provide clients with contracted services and they did not pay me for work completed on several projects. They do not return calls, emails or respond to written requests. Clients contacted me in frustration trying to get the design work they had paid for. All of the Designscape employees I worked with quit as well.

This is the worst company ever, never performed, never mailed the plans, took them to court and they had filed to close the corporation. To amend the lawsuit would have cost me money and effort on top of what I have already lost with them. I tried to work things out with them and they just do not respond to your concerns, they simply withdraw the funds without performing, be careful do not waste your money.

I also was hired to do a measurement of a property in '07 (probably their first one in my state) and was pressured to do it in a hurry. It involved over an hour's drive, an afternoon of taking measurements, then drawing them up and mailing back to Calif. in a tube. I was never paid even after billing them and several calls. During this time, they even had the nerve to ask me to go up to a neighboring state, even further away, and I obviously declined. Even if this whole thing worked, it charges more and is really less efficient than just using someone local who can meet with you in person! Design was what I ultimately would have been interested in, but they wanted designers to buy their own software, so maybe I was lucky to realize I shouldn't invest money after already loosing time with them!

First, not all the designers were bad ones, but add one more to the list that worked for them that was never paid. Designscape has ripped off many designers, and the ones that were ripped off, tried to find out the others and I have had the privilege to see the many talents of each one that I got to know. I designed over fifteen plans for Designscape and I only had one client that could not sign off on the design because the person just could not understand how to read a plan no matter what I did. Honestly, I think the person was just looking for a way out once they understood that Designscape had trapped them. For all of the designs that I successfully completed, I only received one check, (that bounced twice), for a fraction of the amount that was agreed.

It so looks like it was the same person who submitted the last two postings.. I used to work for Designscape..it was a great concept but they drove it into the ground taking things away from the customer. Then they moved it to Costa Rica where things got even worse. Many employees not paid and many more clients neglected!

It was A real pleasure to work with people who have such great ideas. I read the other reviews and I can understand why things took so long. The old management was so unorganized. I had my Drawing in a few weeks. The staff offered to meet with me every day in order to complete my project just so I can get started. I am so grateful A new management team is running Designscapes I would reccomend them.

I am in the middle of this good bad thing. DESIGNSCAPES WAS RUN BY BAD PEOPLE!! NOW IT IS CHANGED!!!. I had a bad experience also but the new people over there made things right. My contractor said it was a pleasure to be able to contact the designer directly when there was a change or revision. it is refreshing to see that there are still honest people in Designscapes. It is refreshing for a company to admit there owners basically sucked and that they are taking care of business.

we contracted with Designscape in June. Nothing but problems, cancelled meetings, designers that had obviously never looked at our questionnaire or what we wanted to do.
We live in SoCal and were given a planting expert in bonsai trees???

Finally just told them to finalize the design, received it and it was crap. CD contained 6 files all unreadable. Had copies of our plans along with someone elses in our box.

We're taking them to court, not worth 2300 dollar that is for sure.

This is a terrible company. They wasted our time, they wasted our money, you hopefully save yours. They are totally incompetent and unqualified. Designers keep wasting your time by cancelling the meetings at the last minute. After many many phone calls and faxes and emails they finally gave us a rough sketch of our yard copied from google world. Looks like a childs school project with no measurements and proportions. We had totally lost all faith and trust in this company and we stopped the project in the middle. Our loss is not as bad as some other feedbacks left here but we still took the issue to better business bureau and APLD. It turned out that they falsely advertised themselves on their website as a member of APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) while they were not. Neither was the designer whom they appointed to us was a member of the APLD. They were cited for that, but we could not recover our money. This is too connected a world to have the business plan of "If I cheat every client once..." The word is getting out ....

I concur with all the bad reviews. Complete rip off.

Read the back of their contract and you will find they don't warrant satisfaction, or accuracy, or usability.

The contract does state that upon signing, you are immediately responsible to pay them. And that appears to be binding.

There is nothing else I can really write here to express what others haven't already expressed in their reviews. DesignScape owes alot of people alot of money and quite frankly I'm surprised they are still in business. One things is certain, they won't be for long.

Don't hire this company for landscape design needs. As the other people have posted, DesignScape does not live up to its promises, and the cost is ridiculous for what you actually get. There was a substantial delay in getting our project off the ground, and I had to pester them several times to even get scheduled. Last year when we tried to call them, it was impossible to ever get a live person to answer the phone, which is extremely frustrating. Even when we left a message for the so-called customer service person, it took days to get a return call back. Horrible experience!!

Designscape used to hire my company to measure the properties for them. They owe me $11,000 and have disappeared. All their staff is in Costa Rica and their management are all a bunch of crooks. Contact me if you want to hear more.

Designscape shoud be called Design Concept. Because after waiting five months for them to design my new front and back yard all I ended up with is a nicely colored plan of the layout I provided them. Their final product completely lacked hardscape detail. The attention to detail I was told I would be provided- such as a fountain a bbq island was never provided. They also forgot to include a number of existing trees in my plans and ignored numerous e-mails I sent pointing out their oversight. When I showed friends what I was provided for $2000.00, they indicated their landscape architect from a local company provided the same thing for a fraction of the cost and in a short amount of time. The fancy technology Designscape presents at their intial sales meeting is completely misleading. Avoid Designscape- their product is nothing but a rip-off!

I purchased a new home and thought designscape sounded like a good Idea for my landscaping. What I got was an unusable amaturish plan that cost $4k. I'm in Southern california and so is designscape but they decided to have me work with someone from back east who was unfamilar with the So Cal. I sent pictures of my neighbors landscaping so he would get an idea of what were doing out here and he just used the pictures I sent for his design of my yard. I guess he thought it was just fine that my yard copied my neighbors? I didn't use any of what designscape sent hired a local landscaper he designed my yard for free as long as I used him and I love it. Save your money and use someone local familar with your area.

This company is a ripoff. They will take 3/4 of your contractedd money before you see anything. If you are not satisified then you are out of luck. We were charged $1650 for a lousy design. it took over six weeks to get anything form the company. We tried to get some of our money back (any amount would have been fine) and they told us that we had nothing coming. We ended up paying a guy who worked for Disney for 30 years $400 and got a beautiful design in two days. If you do business with this company, watch your pocketbook. They will take your money fast and leave you wondering what you paid for.

Designscape does such a nice job with landscaping. They did the front of my house, and it looks really good. I had a few ideas on what I wanted, and they gave me suggestions to make it even better.
