Editorial Description by Citysearch
The Scene
Most Ballys stick to the basics for their design. Televisions broadcast silently above multiple rows of cardio machines; mirrored walls act as the primary decorative components. But thanks to high-energy television ads and low-impact membership premiums, this national fitness chain has steadily attracted a clientele bent on saving money while losing weight or gaining muscle.

The Workout
Using fairly standard strength-training equipment and/or racks well-stocked with free weights, the best of the trainers here, who are classified at four different levels, can be as skillful as those found at costlier gyms. For group classes, signature exercise options include Spinning and Powerflex, as well as a number of patented routines inspired by Tae Kwon Do.

Dirty  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By Jack H.

The gym smells bad and the men's shower area is a mess. Also, lots of guys with wandering eyes in the showers and restroom. Seems like a hookup place for men.

Rude employees and gym rats  1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

Definitely check this gym out for more than the 1 week trial period. This gym is usually so crowded that there is nowhere to park unless you wait for someone to leave.
The front desk guy won't even speak to you when you walk in (I've tried for a "hello" many times, it's almost funny how he ignores people). I've asked for info on personal trainers twice and never got a callback. Also, many of the people working out there are really rude - they won't get off the machines or stand over you until you finish. It's all ATTITUDE - rude.
Try another Bally's, like I did!

Not the Best of the Bally's  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

By D. R. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,392

This gym is generally too small to be a convenient place to work out. Its facilities are pretty mediocre and parking is not easy to come by. After a few visits I started driving a little further to a bigger, better location.

An Average Experience  3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

By Sara H. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 844

This is definitely a no-frills gym, with just your basic stuff: weights, cardio machines and fitness classes. If you want to take your classes in private, go elsewhere, the 'open' class area in the center of the gym has everyone watching you while they work out.

Join now or Die - If you want a hard sell, come here. 1 Star Rating - Unsatisfactory

By kubo

I have never been so harassed to buy into a gym membership in my life! I told the guy, David, 5 times that all I wanted to do was check it out for myself, and I was just waiting for my job stuff to be finalized. The guy would not take no for an answer. By the time I got out of that meeting, I was all frazzled and had a sh**ty workout.

Then, after all that, he proceeded to make an appointment for the following Thursday for me to come in, even though I told him another 2 or 3 times that I wasn't sure I could even make it that day.

Parking is not an issue. 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

By jenny123456

to address parking - there is a Valet after work so you don't have to worry about parking. I've never had an issue parking on the weekends. plenty of street parking across the street, too. Yes, it's a small Bally's, no pool - but it has exactly what I need. I've never waited more than 30-seconds for a treadmill - yes, you might have to wait if you want the latest model - but you won't have to wait if you want to use any of the others.

The weight machines are always in working condition and they just added another row of treadmills. I've never taken classes there, but spent over $500 on personal training sessions, and it was well worth it.

the staff is friendly & the trainers are great. I love this gym, and I'm glad its kind of small.

Pros: excellent personal training by female trainers
Cons: small

Mornings ONLY 4 Star Rating - Very good

By Oscar

If you're looking for a place to work out on the weekend or after work, this isn't the place. There's not enough parking and there are lines for the aerobic equipment. But first thing in the morning, while the gym is certainly crowded, you won't have a tough time getting on any of the machines. The pretty large free weight section is downstairs, and while the lack of natural light is a downer, it's less crowded than upstairs and the early morning crowd is a great group of people. You'll generally see the same people every day, and will rarely have to wait for a piece of equipment.

Pros: morning people
Cons: parking is horrible
