Bad Service and Excellent Food

by moses p.

My experience regarding food was similar to other reviewers. Too much excellent food . Loved the food. Here is the bad part though.

1. The moment we walked in the Korean Ladies looked at us as though they had never seen people from India before.
2. A lady served us food and said she will come back with rice in a minute. Did not show up at all and I had to get up and ask for rice because the spicy pork we had ordered was much too spicy to eat without rice.
3. The dish in which the server the noodles was dirty.
4. after we complained about all this , the manager lady did not even apologize.

we felt bad about this and have decided NOT to go again to this restaurant since the good food is not worth the bad service.

drooling in awe!

by Joyce H. | insider Insider | Rank: 23,113

This korean restaurant has the most free side dishes korean restaurant i've ever been to. I brought many of my friends there and so far, I only got 2 tumbs up!! The owner lady is very cute and friendly in way that she will go to each table and teach you how to wrap the seaweed with different side dishes. It's usually quite packed and noisy during the weekend so, it might not be as good for a romantic date. Other than that, if you love korean food, you CAN NOT miss this one....it's really worth the drive!

good food and good price

by Michael C. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 7,913

awesome food for little money! if you want to impress your friends or family, take them out to Korea House, don't worry, it will not empty your wallet, in fact, you may still have pocket change that you can take them to the ice cream shop next door for dessert!

Korea House is very cozy and it provides free small appetitizer dishes for FREE. yes, as long you order something from the menu, these appetitizers are free and you eat as much as you want.

PROS: good food and won't drain your wallet
CONS: always packed

Best Korean Food

by James Y. | insider Insider | Rank: 22,940

Korea House serves up some of the best Korean food in the Bay Area. Dinner includes a mountain of sidedishes that can barely fit on your table, and the owner really keeps in touch with the customers by showing them the correct way to eat the popular Korean style sushi with bul go gi in the center.

PROS: Great food, and wonderful character. You will not go hungry.
CONS: Can be busy.

lunch buffet review only

by Tricia I. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,093

I have never been to korea house during dinner so I have not been privy to this inundation of food from nice korean ladies. I have had the lunch buffet and I must say, come with an empty stomach.

They have about six items in their buffet so it is a small one, but all the items are pretty good. They have Kalbi so most guys are satisfied with the availability of all you can eat meat, and they have all the traditional items you expect at a korean restaurant. Kim chee of many varieties, bean spouts, sea weed soup, rice noodles for the korean food and then there's also fried chicken, some sort of chicken stirfry (?) and sushi for those that might not really want korean food but agreed to come along any way.

If you're going to try out Korea house for the first time, I would suggest not going on a Friday. They are very very crowded and there is no telling when you will actually get food. Go on a slower day like Wednesday or Tuesday so you won't be deterred by the line.

Very reasonable price, I think it was 8 dollars, no more than 10 for lunch, and you get some kind of juice with that as well.

Only reason for the 4 rating and not the 5 is because of their lack of selection. If you love korean food, you will not be disappointed, but I have had friends leave there dissatisfied because they are not really into korean food and can only eat so much fried chicken.

Beware

by Matt S. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,761

Beware the nice ladies bringing delicious Korean dishes. They laugh, they smile, they encourage you to eat more, but in reality they are trying to kill you with food.

I agree... They really do wish to kill you with kindness

by Chuck R. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,238

So much wonderfull food. Korea House was my introduction to Korean cuisine, and I have not found many Korean places that compares (the exception being Beverly Soon Tofu in Los Angeles).

The woman who runs this restaurant will come over to your table and start fixing you more to eat, even though you are so full you are going to burst. The quintessential grandmother type.

PROS: So much food! So good!
CONS: So much food!

They are trying to kill me

by M A. | top100 Top100 | Rank: 65

Very good down-to-earth Korean restaurant with all the standard Korean dishes. The only problem with this place is that they are trying to kill me - everytime we go, they keep bringing out more bonus dishes even after we're completely stuffed!

PROS: Friendly staff, good food
CONS: You will gain weight
