After stopping by to check out the place, we decided to take our dog here for leash-based obedience training. Our large 80lb puppy had turned into quite the handful on walks even though he was a dream in the house. Terry really did a great job training him, I'm in disbelief of how well he heels. Well worth the price, especially when you consider the 2 week stay. If I have trouble with training in the future, Terry said he would gladly help us with a refresher on proper techniques with no extra cost. I will refer Terry out to other dog lovers and our dog will be staying here in the future if we can't take him out of town with us.

I have a very large gentle giant dog and he has done nicely at Terry and Sandy's place over the past four years I have boarded him, usually for 10 days at a time. He likes lots of cushions so they keep him in the little dogs room which is about 30x20 feet and loves it.
He is always clean and well groomed when I pick him up and they are very upfront about any difficulties they might have noticed, such as once he needed to have the anal sacs expressed, and another time his recurring ear irritation recurred.
Terry also solved a behavior problem in a three day stay. My dog had a bad habit of trying to put his front paw on people's laps, not a good idea when the dogs paws are the size of your feet, with sharp claws. He has never tried to put up the paw since Terry worked with him. I have been very pleased with the work they do and the clean conditions of the exercise pens.

We have taken our dog to Meridian Kennels twice. The first time was a very pleasant experience with what seemed like great care.

The second was quite another issue, unfortunately. Our dog came home with a dual diagnosis of a skin infection and acute pancreatitis. The former was likely from the grooming received there, as per our vet. The latter is suspected to be from a sudden change in diet. As the food left with our dog was carefully measured for the length of stay and there was better than half the food when we picked her up, I can only assume she had other food or no food.

Needless to say, we won't be going back to Meridian Kennels.

We have been taking our dogs out to Terry for years. We have never experienced a problem. the dogs are always clean, thanks for the complimentary bath on pick-up day, when we pick them up. I have often driven up to see the dogs outside waiting for us. I will always use Meridian.

I had read the reviews, but Terry and Meridian exceeded my expectations. My dog, Bailey, has always been difficult around other dogs, but Terry assured me that would not be a problem. True to his word, when I came to pick her up after only two nights, she was waiting for us up front in a pen with another dog, and obviously enjoying her stay. She was bathed and very happy to see us. I could not have asked for a better first kennel experience. Anytime I need kennel services, I will take Bailey to Meridian. In addition I Highly recommend them to anyone.

We were up from Southern CA for the holidays. Terry was wonderful. We have a bichon that is used to it being all about him. They were great. He had a good time and we were so thankful to find such a great place where we felt good leaving him. Our family in Chico has cats so our dog needed to find an alternate location during our stay. I truly hope the locals realize what a great resource they have - either for "doggy daycare" or for boarding at Meridian. We will be a return customer on our next Northern CA trip!

Thank you Terry & Sandy!!!

We love Teri at meridian kennels. They take great care of our dogs. Of course it's gonna be dirty, he lives on land that is dry and gets wind swept daily.

I have been taking my yellow lab Lucy to Terry at Meridian Kennels for the past year. I feel very confident leaving my dog in training with him for he has turned her into an extremely well mannered and competent bird dog in the short time that he has worked with her. When I picked Lucy up she was extremely conditioned in her appearance and manners yet still a playful puppy. I also use and would recommend his boarding facilities for any dog. Every time I bring Lucy to the kennel, she gets excited at the driveway. The boarding facility is very clean and I know when I leave, Lucy will receive the utmost care.

I would NOT recommend this kennel to anyone. Our dog went there and came back with scratches on him and when we dropped him off and picked him up and came in the middle of the week, I NEVER saw the dogs out. When asked if the dogs had been out, they had not been out that day. The kennels were dark and stinky. There were alot of dogs, but only one person to take care of them all. I would not recommend this place to any person or dog. The owner was very nice, but the business seems to neglect dogs. Please stay away unless things change.

I am very overprotective of my two dogs (probably too much I'm sure) and so I approach any boarding kennel with hesitation....Meridian was everything that I could've asked for. The owners were friendly and covered all our questions and anticipated all our dogs' needs. Location is great, facility is very clean and new, and the best litmus test ever....when we picked up our dogs, they were full of energy from an excellent stay at Meridian! We will definitely go back to these folks and would highly recommend them to everyone.

This was the first time I boarded my dog at Meridian Kennels. I was concerned because my senior dog had special needs because of his age. My parents have boarded their dogs at Meridian Kennels in the past and had only great experiences. I also heard many positive things about this kennel through friends. They took wonderful care of my dog while I was on vacation and went out of their way to give him the extra attention that he needed. I will definitely use Meridian Kennels again and I will absolutely recommend this kennel.

I have used Meridian Kennels many many times over the past 5+ years and have always been very satisfied with the care that my dog Max has received there. It's been so helpful that Terry has always managed to be able to accommodate Max, even on short notice. He has also always been very good natured and tolerant of Max's "nervous" nature. Last year he even took the time to fix the gear shift dust protector in my car that Max in a frenzied state had managed to depress upon our arrival, causing me not to be able to shift into park.

I am very satisfied with the services provided by Meridian Kennels and would recommend Meridian to anyone I know. The only thing I might possibly suggest with regard to the circumstances that led to the unfortunate (and I have no doubt isolated) situation addressed in a previous review would be the procurement of a generator (business write off?) to have available in the event of another prolonged power outage in the future.

We have used Meridian Kennels several times, as has another family member. We are very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness of the employees (a nice family-run business)! We also appreciate that our dogs are bathed before we pick them up! If you're looking at boarding your dog in the Chico area, I would give this place a call!

I guess what I'm doing is reviewing a review. This "review" of Meridian Kennels basically states that if you want your dog bit and then not taken to a vet for 24 hours we are the place to go. Then it also states the Terry griped about an additional vet bill. I'm Terry and I own Meridian Kennels and I'm here to give the full story. This "review" neglected to use all the facts. I'm going to tell you the facts and let you decide if we are these terrible kennel owners as it would want you to believe. first, yes a dog was bit here when another dog tore through fencing and ended up in the same run as the dog that was bit. Yes the non life threatening bite was discovered by our staff 22 hours later, not 24 plus hours, I agree still to long. I never griped about the additional vet bill just questioned why it was 2 months later that I was recieving it. This was an injury that I would approximate takes 7-10 days to heal. I think anyone would want to know why such a long delay. So now here is the situation the incident took place during. The weekend of 1-4-08/1-7-08, the biggest storm to hit the valley in decades. Trees were blowing over, roofs were coming of homes and the power was out all over chico. all of the above was taking place here. Trees blew over, part of the roof came off our building we keep the dogs in, the power was out and the wind was gusting 80-100 miles an hour. I'm sure the noise from the wind had a big effect on the one dog panicing and tearing up the fencing and getting into it with the other dog. They're animals and they couldnt possibly rationalize what was going on. It was scarey for everyone. When I expressed the sitiation to the owneres of the pet they told me they didnt care about things were having to deal with during the storm. I'm really not trying use this as an excuse but it was the reality of the obstacles we were having to deal with unfortantly. I really think its sad that a person couldn't for a moment step into our shoes and consider the situation and would prefer to be upset and write a nasty hateful review as they did about our kennel. so I will try to put you in our shoes to help you understand that we are not these terrible people would have you believe. We are in the country, so we are on well water and that requires electricity. So we had no water and to haul buckets of water during the storm from the pond to buildings to clean kennels and go to town to buy bottled water so they would have fresh water to drink for 40 dogs and 10 horses. It was quite an effort but we did it. That evening around 6 Sandy walked through to check dogs and noticed these dogs together that weren't suppose to be,and seeing the damage to the fencing, she seperated the dogs and checked them to see if there had been any injuries. Please keep in mind during that time of year it is dark at 6 pm and we had no power so in turn no lights. on top of that the dog was black making it tougher to see, there was no blood on the floor the dog was showing no signs of any injuries such as limping ect. so I can see how it could get missed and thats what took place. The power was out the whole weekend so the next day was another long day of hauling water and cleaning and mopping kennels by hand. Due to the situation the dogs were not able to be exercised till that afternoon and this is when the injury was discovered, out in the daylight were we could see. sandy imediatly went into action and called the owners to get permission to take him to the vet. More as courtesy because obviously he needed medical attention. Sandy was honest about the time lapse and why shouldnt she be, cause thats what happened, we were honest about the whole deal. Not only were they not charged for there boarding they had no expense out of there pocket to give their dog medical attention. We have been in business nearly twenty years and things don't always go perfect, thats life, but its not what happens its how you respond to adversity and I personally think that was a banner weekend in the effort department. I'm very proud of the way everyone kicked in and worked for 3 days to make sure the animals here were in a sanitary condition. I do believe something good comes out of everything no matter how bad and alot of good came out of that weekend. we always appreciate any constructive critisism we recieve and will always use it to better our business. I just thought, if you the public, care enough to read reviews then its ony fair to you to have the whole story so we don't miss the chance t have a good positive businees relationship. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions regarding this incident I would be happy to speak with you. You can also check us out at meridianKennels.com. Worst experience ever. If you want your dog to be bit and not get a phone call for 24+ hours, leave your dog here. Our dog had another dog tear through its kennel and bite ours. Kennel owner, Terry, gripped about paying an additional $75 dollars in vet bills. STAY AWAY!

This is a gorgous setting for your dog to visit while you are out of town. Large runs, swimming ponds and indoor/outdoor kennels hold dogs while their owners are away. The only thing I did not like was your dogs could be pinned up with other dogs -- not something that I particularly care for.
