This place is the only good coffee shop near my house. Unlike the rest of the neighborhood which is gentrifying it's getting more ghetto. The bathroom is always gross and they're almost always out of stuff on the menu. But it's the best

There really isn't anywhere to go for an Americano if you live in Fruitvale or the Laurel. There is Powderface by BART, but I was heading in the other direction, so I thought I'd try out World Ground.

The good; They have wifi, espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, friendly staff

The not great: My Americano tasted burnt and cost $2.05 for a single before tax, and a bagel with cream cheese was almost $3. The sandwiches looked reasonable pricewise, but the breakfast sandwiches were all over $5 with meat, and the bagels themselves were bready, and not worth the high cafe prices. Also, there were 3 staff working, and the line was not long, but it took several minutes to get to every customer - as if they were overwhelmed.

I have read other reviews that talked about their nice back patio. When I went all the way back, however, I found a strange back room that was part storage/part dining area, and a door that said "To remain closed during business hours." There was no access to the patio, though it was a nice day.

I will come back when I need coffee in this direction, but will not go out of my way.

Pros: Only game in the neighborhood, Espresso Drinks

Cons: Confusing layout, slow service, pricey

This is a neighborhood coffeehouse and cafe. They serve coffee, tea, wine, beer, other beverages. Additionally, they have pastries, some prepared foods, and lunch items.

I LoVe this place! It is a nice, laid back cafe. It is very clean and neat and it also really displays the heart and soul of Oakland (in a good way!) They have great lunches and dinners! For example, you could get a Turkey Sandwich with a side of Caesar Salad and a fruit smoothie of your choice. You can also buy treats like brownies, scones and delicious muffins! If you're ever in the neighborhood you should really stop and take a peek inside.
