Off-the-beaten-path, private location... quiet... even tranquil in both location and atmosphere--outside and inside. Mostly water harbor view through many wall-size windows. Service border-lined on pampering, and food/table comfort and presentation was nothing short of sublime. The soup could have (and should have) been hotter had the large, shallow bowls it was served in been warmed before the soup was put in them and not "absorbed" the soup's from-the-pot hot temperature, and the salad bowl could have (and should have) been more appropriate for the salad: chilled, as I have come to expect from restaurants who do go out of their way to fully pamper their customers. The center cut sirloin and Parmesan blue-cheese-crusted sirloin that we got were cooked to ABSOLUTE PERFECTION: "medium". I always hesitate to order "medium" because I always get RARE. Even when ordering "medium-well", I almost always get RARE. This time I gambled and we got two PERFECT "medium" steaks. And "steaks"? No: definitely NOT the "Black Angus", "Outback", and so forth variety: these are a robust TWO INCHES THICK--a "fist-shaped" and size chunk of the most DELICIOUS "steak" I've EVER been treated to! "Medium"-cooked, all the way through! PERFECT! *Yum*! The seasonal cooked vegetables served with our steaks were also PERFECT: not "rubbery" like most serve, and not too "uncooked", either... just piping HOT and perfectly crispy... *Yum*! I would have rated SIX STARS if the soup was served in a HOT ceramic bowl and the salads were served on a COLD ceramic plate. Service was 6 stars... PERIOD. Atmosphere also 6 stars. A wide choice of single malt scotches (and other beverages) complete a most exquisite "picture" for anyone to enjoy with good company. James 20090428Tue ~~~~~ ><(((;> ~ <;)))>< ~~~~~

Been to Scotch & Sirloin twice. Both times the service was aweful. I won't go again. I worked in the restaurant industry for about 8 years and if a place is really busy I can usually empathize with the staff. But S&S was just plain lazy. From the hostess who refused to sit us at a window (a slow night and 3 window tables were available), to the waiter who didn't know the specials when asked and never bothered to check for us, to the bartender who let us stand there waiting for drinks for 5 minutes while she stood at the end of the bar looking bored- this place is horrible. The food was good, but if I'm payiig $30 for a meal I expect a decent staff. I'd rather go Downtown than brave those people again

PROS: Great food and wine!!
CONS: Not as good as Ruths Chris steakhouse

Where to start? Don't waste your time or money at this place. The view of the Harbor is the only good thing about this place! Made 6PM reservations, had to wait since our "waiter wasn't there yet". Upon gettting seated, ordered, served our weak drinks, then the food! The Filet & Crab Entree, had a piece of the crab shell or bone about 8 inches long, upon telling the waiter, he said he'd let the kitchen know (but didn't do anything about it), the Filet would've been great at Sizzler for $7.99 not $36. Overall, very, very, unimpressed on food, service, drinks, etc. If you go, have atleast 4+ scotches to improve your preception of the food & service.

Try Wednesday night all you can eat ribs, price is under $15 per person and they are great. The regular menu though is just mediocre and way over priced for the quality they use.

We will never go back again. The soup was warm, the rolls were hard.We both had the Sizziling sirlion steak the mushrooms were black almost burnt. The steak was so tough we could hardly cut it. WE were never offered steak sauce the baked potatoe was almost mummified. The ceaser salad was just awful. The wedge salad was a big joke(a big chunk of lettuce, 1/2 of a cherry tomatoe, 1 small peice of onion, and very gross blue cheese dressing. We didn't get refills on coffee and we asked 3 times. They never gave us water and we asked twice,We have had better food at the Sizzler

After hearing of this restaurant for some time, I decided to see for myself on a recommendation.

As a culinary professional with 32 years of work experience in the industry, I feel both qualified and justified in my overall assessment of this eatery.

On a scale of one to ten, the Scotch and Sirloin in Ventura really needs some immediate help in virtually all operational areas, and the product quality-to-value ratio is way off the mark.

To begin my meal, I started with their prime rib soup, which was made unexciting by the fact that it was barely warm.

I also had their Caesar salad which was instantly forgettable, uninspiring, and void of any discernable dressing or effort to
be in any way 'decent'. I would be embarrassed to serve such a plate and have the temerity to attempt to elevate it to the classification of a 'Caesar' salad.

For my dinner entree I chose the Sizzling Sirloin, with a baked potato. I ordered it cooked to 'medium', It arrived 'well-done' with chopped onion and mushrooms which turned black and shrivelled up to an inedible consistency as I watched. The baked potato was obvioulsy 'baked' sometime earlier in the day and was 'warm', not hot.

The bread served with the meal were warmed over generic sourdough rolls, which although flavorful, looked unbaked, anemic, not very appetizing.

The lighting was sub-standard. The background music was
a recording of singer 'Sting' coming through 'tinny' sounding speakers played too loudly.

Our server was slow to respond, and forgetful of a request for a steak sauce. I was amazed that their menu which centered around prime steaks, didn't possess their own recipes for home made steak sauce's. We were eventually brought a bottle of A1 which was ceremoniously plopped down in front
of us.

Needless to say, my dining partner and I decided to forego the offer of dessert or coffee to end the meal. How many disappointments can one be expected to endure at these prices..?

PROS: Nice location.
CONS: Far too many to discuss without a paid evaluation survey.

This is our new Christmas Eve tradition. We became unhappy with the service and quality of food at the restaurant we went to for years, but after just one evening and Scotch and Sirloin, it became our new family tradition. My husband ordered the Scotch Sirloin and it was absolutely amazing. It actually melted in your mouth it was so tender and good. I had the halibut which was good, but I will order the sirloin from now on.

Also try the wedge salad, its a hunk of iceberg lettuce with fresh blue cheese crumbles and some other yummy goodies.

We went to Scoth & Sirloin, had reservations for 8 PM and were seated at about 8:40. Ordered steamer clams for an appetizer. Some were fresh, most were not. We ordered pinot noir and were served with one red wine glass and one white wine glass. We were told that they were out of red wine glasses. Then our steaks did not seem like well-aged meat at all. The spinach tasted nasty and to topit all off all teh service was very, very slow. Avoid at all costs.
