I've been coming here for about 2 years now, and I have never written a review for a restaurant before. But I have to deviate from the norm and tell about this place. This is hands down the best mexican food in S.F. Valley and I would dare anyone to say different. They have an expansive menu that is reasonably price. I would say under-priced for the quality of ingredients used. I'm a certified chef, and in my opinion their gringo-style carne asada burrito is the bees knees. Even after the next day...just throw some salsa on it and crema...wow I'm getting hungry now. Seating can be a hassle, but its definetly worth it. To sim it up, this place rules...

I've been going to Las Fuentes for years now. It is one of the better Mexican food restaurants in the city, much less the Valley.

Las Fuentes is not in a strip mall, or shopping center, or a restaurant row. It is inconveniently located between two automotive garages in a highly congested area in Reseda. Parking also can not be your friend here. There really isn't any, and you need to grab a space where you can.

Once you make it into the restaurant itself, you'll usually wait in line for a bit, and see a large varied menu of Mexican food on the wall to order from. You'll notice prices are quite reasonable for most dishes, even their dinner plates. (I recommend their tacos and burritos.)

You do have to find your own seating, which when its busy, can be a hassle. You also have to get your drinks, and pick-up your own food when they call your number, but all-in-all, not a big deal when you receive your food. The salsa bar is one of the best I've seen and is constantly being cleaned and refreshed.

All of the dishes they serve are excellent quality, and if anything, they give you too much of it! Meat and quality ingredients are never skimped on, and in comparison to what you pay you'll realize how good a deal this really is.

They have already expanded the restaurant once, and its still crowded pretty much all the time The staff is always friendly and personable, and you'll always leave satisfied.

I have been going to Las Fuentes regularly for over ten years now. I can't remember ever having a bad meal. Whatever I try (and I like to try new things) seems to be made with the same good ingredients and flavor. No wonder they always seem to be busy - even in this economy when many businesses are hurting. Keep up the good work. I highly recommend them to anyone.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the SF Valley!! The food is really authentic and delicious. It"s none of that Americanized version of Mexican food, and there prices are also very reasonable. Plus they have the best horchata water I tasted it's awesome!!

This is the best Mexican food around. So good that you will see people from Mexico dining with you. It's wonderful and fresh. My family and I can't have Mexican food anywhere else. Nothing measures up to Las Fuentes' quality, freshness, salsa (yum) and the great family who runs it.

Las Fuentes is the ideal place to have a delicious, convenient and atmospheric lunch. The food is plentiful, the dcor is bright and cheery and the service is fast and reliable. I like the fact that you can order and the counter and pay when you order so there is no fighting over the breakdown of the bill at the end.

If you plan on eating lunch with a group of friends you better come early because Las Fuentes tends to fill up quickly. Sometimes you might have to stock the other patrons to see when they are getting ready to leave just to get a table. There are a few outside tables but the atmosphere inside is much nicer then the Vanowen traffic.

their pico de gallo is to die for I love their hot still had pico de gallo, their chips are the best I wonder if they make their own. Their home-made horchatto is great too, and I love their Mexican Mama breakfast. While I was pregnant I craved their bean and cheese burrito (which doesn't have pico de gallo in it so the statement below is FALSE)

This place is always packed, but well worth it...The carnitas is very tender and flavorful. The only think I have to say is that too bad the chips aren't on the house. Other than that, I can see why it's always full...Good yummy food!

This restaurant has an okay variety of food, though most not some of my favorites because they put pico de gallo in all their food and I dislike pico de gallo.I particuraly enjoy the taco de pollo combonicione, and basically that. The only other problem with the restaurant is that it runs out of tables to sit at most of the time due to the excellent food. Overall, I enjoy this restaurant even if it has little selection for these who do not enjoy pico de gallo and little room.

First timer and was surprised by the adorable setting!!! Although the restaurant was not in the nicest area, the restaurant, itself is SUPER cute restaurant! Whether you are on a date or out with the buds (GIRLS NIGHT!), this place is so colorful, bright, and cheery! The service I received was excellent - smiles from the staff! Got helped right away. Food = excellent...tastes quite authentic. Fresh ingredients. Love the burritos - carne asada style! Fresh Guacamole too! Great chips as well. Loved the beans and rice. Burritos were quite large, by the way...so you can take some home for later midnight snacks! Delish! Next time I'm in the mood for Mexican food, I'm so going here! :D More authentic than Hugo's Tacos (not healthier, but better tasting!!!). They take orders to go as well!!!

I have never been less than completely satisfied with Las Fuentes food. The food is great, the prices are great, and the service is great as well. The cuisine and selection is excellent. You can find all the basic mexican food categories as well as some of the more traditional disehs.

The atmosphere is definately 'family-style' and the portions can more than satisfy larger appetities. If you go there by yourself, watch out, its easy to find several things that you like. If you go there with someone else, its a good idea to coordinate your picks so you can share, you'll want to taste everything when you see it.

Finally, the salsa bar is great with a variety of selections catered to different tastes and spiciness. The ingredients in the salsa (as well as all other dishes) are noticable fresh, with the salsa bar being constantly refreshed.

The carne asada is wonderful, but for something a little different, try the "Al Pastor" spiced pork. Its amazing.

Try the grilled trout. muy delicioso. Moderately priced but not as expensive as El Torito or Acapulco. Carne asada is good too. I've been coming here for 12 years now and I recommend this place. Sitting is hard to find when it is busy but worth it.

When I was 17, I moved to So Cal from No Cal. I moved to Reseda and almost immediately found Las Fuentes Restaurant. This was 1985 and back then it was a "hole in the wall" with awesome food. As the years went by Las Fuentes grew and the decor...wow. The food is wonderful. I've never had a bad experience. The only downfall to MY spot is the limited parking...talk about fight for a parking spot. Also, the wait can be long but what do you expect from the best place to eat in the valley. I would love for Las Fuentes to buy out the mechanic shops next door and expand their parking.

I've gone to both Las Fuentes locations and have not been disappointed with either. Service is prompt, even with having to pick up your food at the counter. The ambiance is very casual but can be loud and very busy at times. I've tried just about everything from the burritos to the plates and each time have felt more than full after eating. The salsas are always fresh and tasty. The food is affordable and will not be disappointed by the menu selections. The only drawback would be that this place doesn't take credit cards and parking can be cramped at times. If I'm in the valley, this place is always on the top of my list provided I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Definitely in the 9s range and have recommended this place to numerous people.

I tried this restaurant after a few friends said "it's a must"... but was expecting the same old mediocre mexican (think Casa Vega... no thank you!). After getting over the enormous menu plastered on the wall, I ordered... and I became a loyal customer! The food is EXCEPTIONAL... very tasty, very authentic, and very quick! I was thinking maybe Baja Fresh because it was more like "fast food", but boy was I wrong! Everything I've had there is better than good, and it's very affordable. Don't expect a romantic evening... this all about people (in small groups) having fun, chatting it up, and being super casual. Believe me, you won't be sorry... no matter what part of the city you live in, this is worth the drive!

Las Fuentes is definitely a gem in the Valley. My classmates introduced me to this restaurant. I absolutely love it there. The food is fresh and authentic, and the prices are really good. I usually frequent "hole-in-the-wall" joints for authentic food, but this place has exceeded my expectations. It's clean, festively decorated, and the food is just right. It does get crowded though, so it might be hard finding an open table. So worth the trip, though.

PROS: authentic, delicious food; cheap
CONS: lack of parking

The food was pretty damn tasty. After reading a few good citysearch reviews I decided to try it out and it was good. Finding parking was a bit of a problem but we parked around the corner and walked. I got a Carnitas burrito "gringo style" and it was great. I only had 2 problems. 1) You dont get free chips. Cmon now... what mexican restaurant doesnt give you free chips? 2) No free refils. It's the 21st century. Everywhere should have free refils. Other than that the food was tasty and Id definatly go back. The biggest seating they had was 4 person tables, so dont go with a group, and definatly dont go during the lunch rush unless you're looking to wait.

This place is the valley's best kept secret. Coming from a mexican family myself, i am pretty hard to impress when it comes to mexican tastes. This place is just sensational. My favorite is also the simplest, easy-for-americans item on the menu -- the burrito de pollo. The ranchero sauce they top it with makes all the difference, when I order a tostada, I have it with Ranchero sauce as well. The chicken soup tastes just like my grandmother's and I love the salsa bar!!! They only take cash or debit cards but the prices are inexpensive!

My friends have raved about this place for years. I happened to be in the area during lunch hours on a Saturday. I had Carne Asada (steak) tacos. At $2-$3 each they were an incredible deal, loaded with freshly grilled steak.

Later that evening, I had such a craving, I went back. I had a machaca (shredded beef) taco. Stuffed with meat like the carne asada, but spicier and fantastic. I also tried an asada burrito. Unlike most places that skimp on meat, here, you may feel like there's TOO much. It was huge and for about $5-$6, you can't go wrong.

I tried my friends enchiladas and chile relleno. Awesome, too.

One con: it is difficult to find parking and when busy (which is usually) it can take 10-20 minutes to get your food. To go orders are great, call ahead and save your entire wait in line.

I grew up in the SFV, so Las Fuentes is near and dear to my heart. It is the best place to go for authentic Mexican food. The carne asada is absolutely perfect. The flavor of their food is unparalleled. I usually go during off hours and never on a Sunday afternoon when the place is slammed with after church lunchers and noisy kids. Other than that, you can' t beat it. I've never had a bad meal here. And even though I now live in the city, I gladly make the trek to this magical restaurant to get my fix. Que sabroso! The 818 knows what's up!

I've been a loyal customer of Las Fuentes for about 20 years. I was a member of Mid Valley Athletic Club, located nearby, and discovered Las Fuentes when I heard a great story. The owner of Mid Valley, a multi-millionaire, would have lunch at a catering truck in the neighborhood every day. He got to know the owner of this Mexican Restaurant-on-wheels, Alex Morales, who was an immigrant from Mexico. One day, he made Alex an offer, "How would you like a restaurant of your own?" The owner of Mid Valley developed a business plan, found a great location, and put up the money. The restaurant thrived in the community, with people of all backgrounds traveling great distances to have the best Mexican food to be found - a true American success story! There are only two problems - (1) Because the food is so amazing, the restaurant can get crowded; (2) Once you eat at Las Fuentes, you will never be able to enjoy another Mexican restaurant again - you're spoiled for life. Enjoy!!!

Las Fuentes is so yummy. The restaurant is always buzzing with people and the food is always served fresh. The atmosphere is fun with tons of art and an outside patio. The prices are a little high. I would highly recommend this restaurant to go out and have a great mexican meal.

I grew up around the corner, so I grew up going to Las Fuentes. What can you say about a place that you watched grow from a tiny hole in the wall to what it is today? The food has always been top-notch. My favorite is the Burrito de Bistek Encebollado. They put chunks of avocado inside their burritos. I also love their nachos and Carne Asada Tacos. I have lived in Pasadena for the past 10 years, but still make the trek as often as I can since it is hard to find somewhere better!!

I was 19, I rented my first tiny apt in Reseda. About a year later, it was around 1984, this lil Mexican joint opened up down the street. It was small, but you didnt have to wait long!, It was cheap!, and the food was to die for! Imagine! what this 19 year old boy had! I was going there at least twice a week!,, I loved the food! I went there for years!, the lines started getting longer! I was phoneing in my orders now! You couldn't get a seat!
The owner bought the space next to him so he could make more room!

I still go there to this day now and then. I live about 10 miles away now, but I still make the drive, and forget getting a seat if you want to eat and run! The food is that great!

My husband and I have been going to Las Fuentes for years. It is our all time favorite place to eat. We have never, never found any Mexican restaurant that compares. The flavor is incredible and the prices are teriffic! The place is so popular and seating is sometimes hard to find but it's worth the wait! When you arrive have one person immeidately scope out a table while the other orders. By the time your food is ready you will have found a table. Saturdays at about 12 noon is a good time to go. Breakfast crowd is thinning and lunch crowd hasn't arrived yet. Friday nights are busy but if you don't mind then go for it!! The Mexican art is incredible! We remember when the restaraunt was extremely small with hardly any decorations but the food was and is still the best we have ever tasted.

In one word "Flavor". You can't match it. This place has flavor all over the menu. Stimulate your taste buds at LF. I've been going here for many years and have found the secret to thier success. The owner is very involved in the prep. of the food. It must taste good to him before it goes out to sale. Quality Control! You want to try this place out but be prepaired to wait in line during Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner rush. Food made to order self service pick-up. The place also has a deliteful display of mexican art work through-out. Enjoy!

If you are in the mid-SFV, you might want to try LF. The food is very fresh and tasty, the atmosphere is typical fast food, no big deal. Also, it is semi self-serve, so if you want full service, you came to the wrong place. This is the right place for simple down-home Mexican food served up in decent portions at reasonable prices. Parking can be tough and sometimes there may be a wait. Give this place a try when in the mood for good Mexican food at fair prices.

I feel funny about telling everyone that this is the BEST of all the Mexican fare I've eaten.......at over 9 on your own scale it seems to be well known! By repeating it I hope to encourage more to visit and partake of this wonderful restaurant. Nothing fancy here...just very good food in an excellent atmosphere and lots of leg room. Portions to fill all, everything cooked to order and all the guests feel as though they are family.

For lunch this is an excelent place to get a FULL meal. Not to mention great quality food. Only issue is you have to wait in line .. unless you beat the rush. The whole menu is good ... I have yet to eat anything I don't like.

Great place to dine too.

Tasty is the word here. LF manages to dish up great food in a hurry. The cost is very reasonable and I feel the authenticity is there. I would strongly recommend those that have not visited to give this place a try as the food, atmosphere and employees are top-notch.
