This place is amazing. Even for someone like my wife, who isn't real fond of zoos because she doesn't like seeing the animals caged, this place is a treat. The animals intermingle, much as they would in the wild, in huge/open enclosures. We're talking acres here folks. The park was originally started as an effort to preserve and increase the numbers of black rhinos in the world when they were do dangerously low. They had great success in their efforts and have expanded into what you can see today. It is such a different experience to see the animals in a more natural setting, with space to roam, and a mix of creatures in one area. Take the tram ride and really get to see the variety of animals calling the place home, and you will learn alot from your tour guide. They also offer "safari" packages, which are very similar to going on a safari in Africa, whre you will get to travel through the enclosures ina jeep for an up close look at the animals. The giraffes will likely come visit you, looking for treats. They also offer interactive experiences for smaller children, with a petting zoo, lorikeet enclosure, and opportunities to feed the giraffes (if they are hungry). My son was surprised by their rough tongues, kind of like a cats.

Great place, so much better than a traditional zoo. The only real drawback can be the climate. It is VERY hot here in the summer months, I recommend visiting in the early spring or late fall.

I love it here, it is more relaxing than the zoo!! Everything is in a more "natural" setting. Everything is spread out, and it never feels too crowded. The tram ride is great to be able to see the animals in the "wild".

This was definitely an awesome place to spend the night. We participated in the Roar 'N Snoar where you get to sleep over at the park and sleep in tents right by the wild animals! You could hear all the crazy noises that they make at night and go on the behind the scenes tour of the park while everyone is gone!

My family enjoyed this park even better than the San Diego Zoo. They are partners and you can get a pass to visit both parks if you wish. Sea World also offers a special pass where you can go to those parks as well as a few others if you are looking to hit all the spots. This park is like being on a safari!! You feel as though you are in their habitat. There aren't many cages - it's us watching them in their element. VERY COOL. Our favorite part was the train ride around the perameter of the park - it's a must see.

I do not really like the San Diego Wild Animal Park. It is very boring and you can hardly see any animals there. Sometimes it seems like it is just an empty park.

I always enjoy the Wild Animal Park. They have tons of animals and way more room than the Zoo so the exhibits are much better. They also have many exotic animals and great shows. The best part is the tram which takes you through an african plain with all the animals roaming freely for the visitors to see in their true habitat.

The Wild Animal Park is the greatest zoo I have been too. It has a great atmosphere and is very well kept. The thing I like most about the parl is how in one sections many of the animals are allowed to roam free with other animals.

I went on a slow day, so the lines were extremely short and the parking was simple. The guided tour around the park is interesting because the guides are extremely knowledgeable and also funny. But this may not be that exciting for younger kids because you don't get a chance to see many animals up close. It seems nicer than a zoo for the animals because they have such wide-open spaces to roam, but that means that they aren't very close to you. They have an option to go out in a truck and feed some of the giraffes, but I didn't have an opportunity to do that. For that option, the price increases. Overall, it's a fun opportunity to see the animals in their recreated "natural habitat."
