Bad food, iffy service
by Robert K.
Tried this restaurant based on some great, some bad reviews. The corn chowder was watery with little taste and an overwhelming garlic taste. The cobb salad was over dressed with an insipid dressing and the bacon tasted like bad jerky. To make matters worse, the waiter added a 25% tip to the bill, telling us he "thought he heard one of us say that was what we wanted to tip. Needless to day, we will not be back!

The Engine Co #28 restaurant in downtown Los Angeles harkens back to the days that horses pulled the fire engines to fires. The interior decor of the restaurant is very cool and the architect kept many of the original details.
The food was awesome. A little bit pricey, but the food was very worthwhile. I would recommend this restaurant for a first date.

Bad service and lousy food
by Anonymous
Chad our server dropped the menus off, took our order and then didn't reappear until he dropped off the check. I ordered the red beans and rice with andouille sausage. Its pretty clear the "chef" has never had andouille or cajun food. Absolutely one of the worst dinning experiences I've had in Los Angeles in the 10 years I've lived here. This place is a waste of time and money; fortunately, its not an expensive restaurant.

The restaurant is conveniently located at walking distance from my office. The service is great, the food is wonderful, and the ambiance is always upbeat and friendly. The restaurant caters and delivers to the local offices. I recommend their assortment of sandwiches for your next office meeting.

I took my better half to dinner for his birthday. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The service was impeccable. I would recommend dining there.

We enjoyed Engine COmpany 28 very much. This is a renovated fire station on Figueroa with a beautiful restaurant and a swanky bar inside. I had a great steak sandwich. They have an excellent selection of beers, and don't miss the "Library" of single malt scotch!
PROS: Fine bar and restaraunt

This restaurant is in a renovated 1912 firehouse in downtown LA. I had my 18th birthday here and it was perfect for an intimate group of 10 to have dinner. The crme brle with fresh berries is fantastic and the setting is very unique. It is about 20 dollars per plate. Valet is recommended because parking around the restaurant is not worth the stress.
