This is hard for me to write, becuase I am a member of CFF ( CH) and have been an overall member for NINE YEARS and I absolutely LOVE it from an amenities point of view.

I've recently been given two " All Family ALL MONTH" access passes to CFF and I gave them away. The " All month pass" is a bit of a joke- it's only valid on Tues/Thurs/Sat. So passes are pretty useless. They make it sound like it's a huge gift, it's not.

When sitting with my friend trying to get a membership for Citrus Heights, the 12 year old sales dude was a joke. He couldnt have sold water to a starving man. I couldnt believe that this child was responsible for bringing in new members!! Then ultimately my friend felt like crap afterwards as he basically told her that by not joining a) she didn't care about her health and b) she was obviously going to drop dead any second since she didn't sign up for health. Ridiculous. What the sales child didn't know is that my friend was ready to sign up right then and there, had the money and was good to go...but a rather dumb and really lacking sales pitch, no tour, no explanations, nothing and she very quickly lost interest with the price quoted.

So sad for CFF that this woman would have brought in even more
members and they threw it away by having a horrible sales child who treated her like an overweight alien that really wasn't all that welcome. I was so un-proud to be a member there. For the price members pay, they should have nothing but the best, instead, I saw nothing but a bunch of kids barely out of high school almost bullying someone into a membership that they were not willing to even give her a tour of. Ridiculous.

I absolutely understand it's a business, but in reality, that's all it is. It may as well be phone book slaes or pen cap sales for as much as I saw they truly care about their members/health/fitness. Their front desk and Kid Care staff I understand are young, inexperienced and pretty much clueless...that's fine. I'm sure they work for tiny salaries, so I don't expect much. But for sales staff who are supposed to put the club on a platter and show it off, and act like 12 year olds, Good God, this club is in trouble!!

Some of the facilities are nicer than others. I do think think the monthly price is high. When you bring this up to the sales staff, they point out that your health is worth the price. I wonder how much they are paying. Unfortunately, with this economy I don't know how much longerI can afford to go. I guess my health will suffer. I wonder if they care enough about my health to lower the price???

I pay 120 dollars for me and my kids monthly for the membership and it is like going to school with the gym staff always nagging you for something. One time one kid, so called pool supervisor told me to go into the pool because my son who is 6 1/2 cannot be in 3 feet deep pool by himself because he is wearing a life jacket and if my kids(6&1/2 and 4&1/2 yrs) are not wearing any life jackets I can just sit outside and watch them.. Next day another pool supervisor told me that my son is ok to be in the pool with life jacket and only the children under 6 and wearing life jacket need an adult in the pool with them so she advised me to take my daughter's life jacket off to let her in pool. You won't believe this, the very next day another gym employee told me to get into the pool since my 4&1/2 is sitting on the first step of the pool, then he brings a manager who lack customer service skills and not able to listen or explain anything.I will never go there again, their staff doesn't know what they are doing and don't treat you with respect.

Rocklin California Family Fitness- I liked the gym but it is very expensive. They charge $59 for first person and $29 for second and $10 next and next.

I really liked the gym and I was a member for about 2 years but I think $59 is kinda high in this kind of market when the economy suck, and where you can get 24hr fitness for $299/2 yrs thru costco even though I don't like 24 hr fitness, and fitness 19 for $5-$9.

I wish california family fitness lower their membership and get more business.

This was for CFF in Rancho Cordova - not the one downtown.

I called the place today to learn more about the membership - mostly how much it costs for myself and my family. The first contact number sent me to a recording that said I should contact the local club. It sent me along to another recording where I put in my ZIP code, then connected me to the local club. OK.

The phone was answered by a person, but not a salesman, so I was sent along to a salesman. This is where it got fun.

I told the guy how many were in my family and asked for prices, at which point he said he wouldn't tell me - that I'd have to come in to hear him tell me. I explained that I was too busy and could he just tell me the prices. He said there are 20 different quotes he could give me, but he won't -and then started to argue with me about give me a quote over the phone. I said I'm not going to argue with you.

The last thing I said was, "Do you want my business or not?" - and he proceeded with his argument until cut him off by hanging up.

I'll pay extra not to be bothered by fools.

I joined this club in Folsom in December. The sales guy (Leigh) who registered me in the club waived the fee for my son, and he said that it was good for only 2 months, but he said, he will work with the club manager to get the waiver extended. I was happy on the offer given to me, and I got all the club cards from him on the day, and everything was fine for the first few days. The problem started for me after the first week. My son's name was not on the system, and apparently Leigh gave only a temporary membership for my son since the fee was waived for him. To my surprise, I also realized that the he did not work at the place any more. However, after I explained the situation to someone else in the office , he (Chris?) helped renew the membership for my son, and told me that I should not have any more issues. He also told me that he will speak to the club manager and get the waiver extended for me.Unfortunately, a few days later, the people at the reception would find that my Son's name was not on the account. It was very frustrating, and I had to explain the situation to another guy (Steve?) who was in their office - this time, the guy fully assured me that he will speak to the "back office" and fix the problem. However, that never happened. A few days later when we went to the club, I was stopped at the reception again, and asked about my son's membership - this time, the guy who spoke to me previously (Steve?) was present in the office, and when I went to ask about the issue, he referred to me to the General manager who was in the office - I was certainly disturbed by all the pains I was going through. The GM was not helpful at all. No apologies, nothing. Never felt sorry for the issues I was going through in-spite of collecting 2 months of membership money in advance. After some heated discussions, he simply agreed that I can use the gym until the first 2 months that I paid for, and after that I will be charged at the regular rate, or I have to sign a 2 year contract to get the special deal. With all the issues I was going through I was certainly not interested in signing a 2 year contract. So, I gave my 30 day notice to cancel the membership. When I went to the club a few days later, I had the same original problem that I had after the first week - my Son's membership was not on the account, and I had to explain at the reception on what happened. Even the GM did not fix the problem !!!! Now, that explains why all of his staff was like that - extending offers that should not have been extended to me, and never bothered to fix my problem permanently from day one!!!To my surprise, a few days later, on Jan 18th, I got charged for the month of Feb 18th - March 17th, even through I gave my 30 day notice on Jan 12th. When I went to club today to ask about this (to the GM again), he said that the notice I gave on 12th was for 30 days after March 17th. I had no idea on how their 30 day notice works. It apparently needs more than 60 days!!!! And, also he said that My son cannot use the Gym, and that he would escort me out if I were going to talk any more. I was very disturbed by these events, and the treatment meted out to me by this club. Now, I don't know about other places, but the Folsom Club is horrible. Their sales staff never tell you the truth, and have complete disregard for customer satisfaction.I must tell that the rest of the club staff were very friendly though (especially the folks at the kids club). So, please be aware of what you are signing up for, and get everything in writing. Of course, I would never go this club again.

I belong to California Family Fitness for about 12 years and I love it. There are many locations throughout Sacramento and I can always keep to my workout schedule no matter where I am at that day. Sure some facilities are small, but let's not forget many are huge. Natomas is like Disneyland! I love the staff at all the locations and they really do treat you like family. My kids love it. My husband thinks it rocks.

I have been a member of California Family Fitness for over ten years and have enjoyed their different facilities. They are usually upbeat, modern, and clean. I have found most of the staff to be very nice and cheerful. However, it would appear that their ambitions to be the largest fitness club in California come with a price. Customer Service. Several events took place over the last few months that made us finally give up our $26 dollar charter membership and find a fitness club that cares about its members.
The most disturbing was their complete lack of care or response when I pulled a soiled female sanitary napkin from the bottom of their Orangevale pool. In fact, one manger, Steve I believe was his name, laugh and thought I was going to tell him I found a ?floater?. I guess he was referring to finding a piece of human feces instead, as if that would have been any better.
I reported the incident to the corporate office in Orangevale after finding something of a questionable nature in their spa. Again, no response.
To add insult to injury, when I tried to call and cancel my membership, I was informed that I could not over the phone and had to come down in person and it will take 20 minutes. 20 minutes to cancel a membership? Or do I have to sit through their last attempts to keep me before they will stop charging my credit card.
They do have great facilities if you do not care about customer service, being just a ?number? in their corporate world, and you Always, Always check the bottom of their pools and spas before use.
Sincerely,
A former 10 year member of CFF

2 car windows broken in a 1 year period! One in broad daylight the other up front under a light. We have been members for over 10 years- generally satisfied and we've been really happy with the low monthly fee but adding the cost of car windows to that fee is getting pricey. The Sheriff's department stated that this is a common occurrence at Cal-Fit & the staff at Cal-Fit seemed completely unconcerned. Also, almost every person I have told about this has had some story about a similar incident at a Cal Fit. I noticed for a while that there was a security guard in the parking lot but that seems to have stopped & there appear to be some iffy characters roaming around at all times. We are looking into other clubs that might be more concerned with their members safety.

I enjoyed going here to work out, especially since this place provide an environment of family fun. This place encouraged my children to workout and have fun while working out too. It allowed me a chance to spend time with my family doing something that will help us stay healthy in the long run. Great staff and the cost of admission wasnt as much compared to other place. Its a great place to go to with your family to encourage one another to stay helathy and stay in shape. I highly recommend it.

I was very disappointed when I went to this gym. Not very family friendly and the help was not helpful. It is a very small place and not a whole lot of equipment.

I was disappointed when I walked into this facility. As it is basement-level, the ceilings feel low and give the space a bit of a claustrophobic feeling. There are very few cardio machines, and the weight room area seems haphazardly overstuffed with machines. Besides the facilites being sub-par, I also witnessed several women walking around in full makeup with their purses and juices, talking on cell phones while sitting at machines pretending to work out. Not a cool environment at all.

PROS: location
CONS: facility is too small
