OMG. so I've been visiting LA for about a week now & between shopping & amusement parks & everything else I am SUPER SORE!!!! My friend decided to take me into this Massage Place before my legs gave out. I'm usually weird about people touching me but my therapist was VERY PROFESSIONAL. she focused on my legs but didn't go too deep cuz she didn't want to aggravate it. the price was a shocker, $47??! and it's located right between Venice/Santa Monica so it's perfect if you're on the beach & want a little rub-down ;) DEF going back before I leave town!!!!

Pros: Affordable!!!!

Cons: Not a spa but for $47 who cares?!!!

Very bad massage. It was very disappointing and I felt cheated to have to pay for their services. Save your money and don't bother! Tiny rooms, cold, and the masseuse was not at all friendly!

Crying pain!!!! for the last hour..went to relax before a date which i had to cancel.. due to the pain! Asked for deep tissue/ Swedish massage.. couldn't even feel her touching me.. which i stated multiple times.. after twenty min decided it was pointless to sit here for an hour.. she left can came back, we decided to cut it short at thirty min. For the next ten min she proceeded to gouge and poke at me with all her might, despite my crys and telling her that what she was doing hurt. when i went to pay they charged me 37 out of the 47 for the hour.. oh and for a full body massage she only touched my upper back. I argued about payment and said i felt worse.. holding back my tears. They offered nothing and i just wanted to get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to cancel an appointment here and after being verbally attacked by the woman at the front desk, she then hung up on me! Even after I had sincerely apologized AND thanked her profusely. Her comments to me were completely rude and unwarranted. I had been a customer for years and although the massages weren't top notch it was always convenient and CHEAP! Never again will I go back.

Pros: cheap

Cons: rude staff, horrible customer service

After a wonderful massage from Grace I was treated extremely rudely by a woman at the front desk named Carole. I found out later that she is the mother of the owner, so, good luck getting anything changed. But, hopefully this review will caution those thinking of going here.

I gave my credit card to Carole after the massage. She asked me what my gratuity would be. I said 20%, thinking that was a good amount, $8.00. She immediately "corrected" me telling me I should read the sign saying it was common practice to give $10 - $20 per massage. Her manner was so gruff I was taken aback.

I upped the amount to $10, however, if it she'd presented it in a kind way I would have given more. The massage was great. But, she was curt, condescending, and clearly intended to guilt-trip me . She then proceeded to tell me how they worked really hard and deserved it. I agreed, but, being shocked by the way she was talking to told her I was surprised at the way she was presenting it. It was uncomfortable for a customer who innocently thought they were giving an appropriate amount. She continued with "you know some of the masseuses won't even work on you again unless you leave at least $10, again, in a rude and condescending manner. I told her I was embarrassed by the way she was talking to me, especially in front of others. She said "You are embarrassing because you would leave such a small tip. Wow! Can you imagine? I found out later this is the way she treats people. No matter how great the massage, she ruins it.

So, I highly recommend Grace as a masseuse, but, caution you to patronize "The Massage Place." If they cared about treating their masseuses and masseurs so well, they would pay them better rather than expecting the customer make up for what they don't want to pay. AND, if they cared about repeat business they would treat the customer better, as well.

Pros: Grace is a great masseuse, but, only works on Mondays and Tuesdays

Cons: You have to put up with Carole. And so do the poor employees.

I also went to a "Massage Place" near my house in Venice on (Washington blvd) frequently for a few years because it was close and inexpensive. One day after a mix-up, the office girl made reservations for two people at the same time, not one. I was informed that I would still be charged in full for the second person. OF COURSE AFTER my massage. When I said no to their request, I was also subjected to incredibly rude behavior
The owners there had no sense of treating a repeat customer with any degree of fairness. They did nothing but say the same thing, that they always charge the full amount no matter what happens, apparently even if there is a mistake.

I went to a "Massage Place" near my house in Venice (Main Street) frequently for a few years because it was close and cheap. One day after a mix-up on the part of the receptionist (she told me my appointment was 15 minutes later than it was) I was informed that I would still be charged in full, and worse, I was subjected to the most vile and dismissive, incredibly rude and un-professional behavior I may have ever experienced at any establishment ever. I actually really mean that. She had no sense of treating a repeat customer with any degree of fairness because of her error. She did nothing but recite ad nauseam that they always charge the full amount no matter what happens, apparently even if the mistake was on their end. It was shockingly rude. I would highly recommend avoiding this place at all costs. Sure, you might get a cheap massage, but who cares when you could be treated like this.

If you are looking for a place to relax, go somewhere else.

The Massage Place offers $45.00 massages. I wanted a relatively cheap massage, but $45.00 isn't that cheap, especially when signs are posted everwhere that the recommended gratuity is $10-20%. It is, however, cheaper than a spa where you pay for the amenities, which are definitely lacking at the Massage Place in space and decoration. My massage therapist conducted my massage with the lights on throughout 75% of the massage until I think he realized he forgot to turn them off in the first place. I booked a deep tissue massage and ended up instead with a hybrid of shiatsu, accupressure, and "I may break your ribs and puncture a lung because I'm pressing so hard on your tiny frame" technique. The cradle for my head was uncomfortable, causing my jaw to feel more tight than it ever had before. Once it was over, I asked him what kind of technique he used on me. He replied proudly that it was a combination of everything he had ever learned.

A very reasonable price for a quality massage. Three locations in Santa Monica, Venice and Marina Del Rey.
