this hotel is pretty old and has a lot of history behind it but also a top line location for tourists. I have used it for years in my tour and travel experience, and all tourists loved it as they can walk to the Chinese Theather and all of the Hollywood must do stuff.
I wasn't blown away by the hotel itself, but the location is perfect. And there's always something going on. Plenty of star-spotting to be had. The service levels were good and the rooms were adequate but far from exceptional. Mind you, I was there a couple of years ago - maybe it's had a face lift since then.
This is a Hollywood Landmark. You've probably seen it in movies without even realizing it. The Roosevelt has undergone remodeling in the past few years that have brought it back to its original Art Deco style. There is a lot of history to this place, which the staff will tell you, like rooms that are supposedly haunted by celebrities. The pool is nice, and I think it's open to the public. The rooms are ok, not great, but the reason to stay here is location, location, location!
