As we all know from the ubiquitous Jack in the Box commercial, breakfast is the most important meal. This applies even to those of us who usually begin our days a bit later. My favorite thing about the People's Cafe is that it serves breakfast all day! I definitely came here in my pjs at 2 pm a few times in high school. It also provides some of the most interesting people-watching you'll find in the city.
Get the pancakes!

A very cute and cozy place to stop by for lunch! Their sandwiches are made really well was they were delicious. A little on the pricy side, and the place is a bit small, but it is located on Haight Street so you get a great view of all the interesting people and action going on outside the window! The people there are very friendly. Definitely was a great experience going there.

Bagels and lox, gourmet sandwiches, and any coffee drink you can imagine. Prices are fairly high, but they use fresh ingredients and portions are fairly large. Service is friendly and the cafe is a great atmosphere in which to read or study.

in you are on the haight and want a good cafe lunch, you can stop by here. they have really good sandwiches and the prices are pretty reasonable. you can eat inside or if it's a sunny day you can eat outside or by the fully opened window. it's always packed so that should speak for itself.

This neighborhood place has so much potential! Fails in many ways - besides the location, interesting decor, and decent size for siting this place should be avoided. Menu is deceiving - what comes with sides/what is extra? All things on

This is good for a quick bite to eat, perhaps after exhausting yourself from shopping in the many stores that line historic Haight-Ashbury. But don't expect too much. The food is pretty much burgers, fries, salads, etc. It is satisfying

Pros: Quick and easy meal

Cons: Place lacks character or trying too hard to make it seem like they do.

Not much to say about this place. Coffee was weak. Food was ok, not awful but not great. Staff was indifferent. I liked the photos of Haight Street. The place bills itself as some kind of peace-themed cafe but this seems like a

Rubbery eggs florentine. Bitter coffee. Brittle, greasy bacon. Overcooked ommelettes with soggy, colorless ingredients. Fresh squeezed orange juice was the highlight. Sorry, not a good option, esp. in this area. If you just need a bagel

Despite efforts to rejuvenate and reinvent the neighborhood, there's a certain friendly, liberal, anything-goes attitude in the Upper Haight leftover from its heyday, and this coffee house-diner-art gallery has it in spades. There's…
